My Senior Project Analysis

When I think of a senior project, I think of an educational opportunity that help students obtain adult-like skills, interests, and hopefully, maturity. Also, it’s a form of expression for most students, because it’s their chance where they can show and demonstrate what they’ve accomplished throughout their experience with their topic. As I mentioned before, it helps students obtain interests but also helps them acknowledge others and expand their minds to new possibilities or opportunities. I also think that senior projects are beneficial for a student's future because if they worked hard enough on their topic, and chose to pursue it as a career, they could have their senior project as a listed experience to set them aside from other applicants. The Senior Project is an important part of a student’s final year of high school. It integrates skills, concepts and data from the student’s program of study into one culminating project. Students work on individual projects. A Senior Project consists of a major product/artifact, portfolio, oral presentation and a written reflection paper.

For Claudia Cifolelli’s Senior Project, she provided service for the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya, Africa. This organization provides a safe haven for injured and orphaned elephants that have been victims of the illegal ivory poaching throughout Kenya. In order to help raise money to fund this organization, Claudia organized a silent auction containing art pieces related to wildlife made by students and alumni from Natomas Charter School and other local artists. The money she made went to the Medical needs of the Elephants in Kenya.

My project took a little bit of time, sweat, and hard work but was a success in conserving water. My project is a gutter system, that leads to a rain barrel, which collects water for later use, like watering the garden. The reason I built this project was because my garden is under the eaves so the garden is not able to absorb the water when it rains, and this project solves that. The people who helped me with my project are my mom and brother. They helped me cut and attach the gutters to the roof. The water collection system was built at my house, and I had to go to Home Depot for supplies. My mom drove me to Home Depot where I picked up the supplies to build the gutter system. Fictional Writing is literature that is written by an authors to produce stories with a goal to entertain the reader reading the story or for the author to tell their point of view in the story. The result of the written piece of fiction doesn’t have to be a long novel; The finished piece of fictional literature that the author wrote could also be a short story or a poem. Fictional pieces of literature don’t have to be written by authors but by playwright and scriptwriters who write for plays, television shows, and video games with important parts of their fictional writing being on the characters, the plot, the setting, the theme, the style of their writing and tone towards different subjects that are present in the fictional story that is written.

I am writing this for Engineering 1201 Practices and Principles’ Whole Life Concept Project Part 2. I have researched technical and non-technical skills that will allow me to reach my goals in the future. South African activist, Nelson Mandela, said “It always seems impossible until it’s done”, but how does someone get it done? I believe the answer to this question lies in the application of the abilities we learn throughout our lives. It is important to recognize skills as those that are more helpful to reach one’s goals and where to learn them. My individual passion is to make a difference in the lives of low-income communities around the world by building sustainable infrastructure. This will allow there to be more funds focused on improving the quality of life. One of my goals includes forming a nonprofit contracting company that will aid in the construction buildings and bridges. In order to make a successful company you need a wide variety of skill sets.

Coming into senior year, I actually expected the difficulty of the senior project. The senior project is a very time consuming task. It is a major part of determining whether or not we graduate. I never thought that I would be so unsure of my project and what it will require. I need to find out how I will collect my data. I also need to determine my product and how it relates to the project as a whole. An additional issue that I am facing is that I am having trouble putting the concept all together in my mind. Once I actually just use one full moment to gather my thoughts and combine them, I can plan an effective closing project. I want to go out with a bang and finalize the legacy that I am leaving here in Warren County.

The company I work for recently met with our primary client in hopes of identifying any potential shortfalls and to gain insight on our customer service ability. During this meeting one concern seemed to dominate the study; the client felt they were not getting adequate personal attention when they called. They also indicated "it felt like voice mail hell" when routed through our phone system. It was apparent the issue of phone etiquette needed to be addressed within our organization.

The purpose of this memo is to rank myself in regards to the RSS project and presentation. The ranking will be from 1 being poor to 5 being excellent. I will also give a detailed report on how I felt that I could improve my sales call and how I could’ve improved each category.
