Setting goals is the one thing that keeps me focused, or shall I say keeps my eye on the prize. Beginning my academic short term goals by earning a Career Diploma from Penn Foster Career School in Medical Coding and Billing. Then going on to pursue my Associate of Science Degree in Health Information Technology with Kaplan University. At that point, I immediately re-enrolled in the Bachelor of Science Degree program in Healthcare Administration. A long-term goal is to return to Kaplan University for the Master’s Degree program in Healthcare Management.

I am at an exciting point in my life and career. Being in my capstone class for the Health Care Administration program and earning my Bachelor’s degree through the University of Phoenix is an achievement that I would not have given myself credit for just two years ago. I was given the biggest vote of confidence by my previous employer to go back to school and earn a degree that will get me past the road block I was stuck in as a surgery scheduler.
I have decided to pursue a career in health information technology. My eventual goal is to get a job in a medical billing and coding setting. I am lucky enough to have a couple of family members that currently work in this field, so I am ahead of the curve in knowing what to expect and where are good places to apply.
Our goals in life reminds us that we hold the key to elevate ourselves, to reach our full potential of success. Using that key we unlock the door to success, testimonies and motivation to those whom hold important places in our hearts.
