As a college student, the information David Randall presents is very intriguing due to the fact that most of us are sleep deprived due to late night studying, among other things. It is very evident that Randall relies on statistics to build and progress his argument. He tells us how over time certain statistics have increases and by how much. This opens our eyes and makes us realize that there really is an issue. By providing these sources Randall becomes trustworthy and our doubt of whether this is true or not are put to rest. The author comes into contact with our feels once he brings in true stories to the picture. He informs us of the incidents that have occurred due to sleep deprivation. Flags are being raised not only because of suicide rates, but because sleep is beginning to have an effect on the overall body. Fingers are now being pointed towards parents for being the reason of unhealthy habits. Sleep deprivation is becoming a larger problem causing physical, emotional, and mental issues; Frank Bruni expresses strong evidence when referring this problem to the fault of our society.
I think the sleepwalker statue should be removed from the campus. The lifelike statue is an amazing artwork, but should not be on any college campus. The statue does not look presentable or appropriate for where it is now. The statue should have never been allowed to stay on the campus as long as it has; the creator of the statue did not ask for permission to place his statue on the campus. The statue should have been removed from the campus or sent to an art museum after students expressed they were uncomfortable with the statue. A petition was signed by more than 500 supporters to help the students’ argument to get rid of the “sleepwalker”. The statue might have been more acceptable at a college with both women and men.

Sleep affects grades in more ways than one or two or even three. It affect how people feel, think, and act (Gruber,2013). This states that people that have less sleep behave differently than people that get the recommended amount of sleep for their age.They may be more likely to have mistakes in a class or job. They might even act different than they usually do. Sleep also has an affect of no motivation or effort in the work they do (Gruber,2013). This is important because this tells that the person that does not get enough sleep does not have much motivation or effort they put in to the work they perform.People with motivation tend to do things better than people that have none.
In the article Teachers,Students and Sleep, author Dave Stuart address the effects of different qualities of sleep have on students. Stuart covers the causes for poor sleep and the consequences this can have. The author repeatedly references the work of Harvard graduate Maria Konnikova, along with Shawn Stevenson who has a bachelor's degree, thus they appear to be reliable sources. Stuart cover the negative effects of artificial light close to sleep, and the many positive effects of regularity in other activities on the sleep cycle. Dave Stuart makes his readers reevaluate how important sleep is.
This source was produced by The Media Production Group at Dartmouth and Dr. Carl P. Thum, Director of the Dartmouth Academic Skills Center. Carl Thum himself works with students at Dartmouth University in which he provides coaching for students suffering from ADD and also leads various workshops, mini-courses, and coaching sessions for students as well. In this video, several students and faculty members are interviewed on the relationship between sleep and being a college student. In the various interviews, the students admit to the struggles they have in being able to function when suffering from sleep deprivation and how severely the lives are affected from it. The faculty members themselves admit to the several instances in which they have witnessed students suffer as a result of sleep deprivation in their testimonials. I will be incorporating this video to indicate the varying degrees at which sleep deprivation can affect students and will include quotes from other students in this video in order to create more relatability for the reader when hearing from students besides myself and how they have learned to address sleep.

Personally, I believe that the words that this individual has a difficult time uttering is, his belief that Joe Slater, a man suspected of murder is innocent. To begin with, I have concluded to this stance, for the reason that this doctor, seemed to be the mere savior, that had a glimpse of optimism and certainty that this gentleman, did not slay his family throughout the first chapter, “Beyond the Wall of Sleep”. For further explanation, Dr. Kaufman through the tone of his words seems to feel empathy to protect Mr. Slater from his death, as hinted when said, “that fateful night I was widely agitated and perturbed, for despite the excellent care he had received, Joe Slater was unmistakably dying”.

Furthermore, she gave examples of unfavorable results due to this problem.
