Marshall Mathers vs Slim Shady
Are you a fan of rap? If so, you probably know who Marshall Mathers and slim Shady are. Actually, it’s a trick, they are the same person, Eminem. How similar and different are Eminem’s two personalities?
In case you do not know who Eminem is, the backstory. Marshall Mathers grew up without a dad because his dad left when he was a baby. He grew up with his mom and his brother Nathan. Marshall’s mother took prescription pills that she didn’t need, which caused Nathan to be taken away. Marshall started raping in the underground and was always pushed around and made fun of because he was a white rapper. He later “ruled” the underground. Marshall is the one who usually raps about the struggle of his life like in the songs “Lose Yourself” and “Not Afraid”. Slim always creates controversy when he is the one singing in the song his most controversial songs are “We As Americans”, “Kim”, “I’m Back” and “Kill You”. In all of those songs he talks about murdering people. In “I’m Back” one of his lines were censored, this is what he said, “I take seven [kids] from [Columbine], stand 'em all in line Add an AK-47, a revolver, a 9A MAC-11 and it oughta solve the problem of mine”. “That's Slim Shady, yeah baby Slim Shady’s crazy Shady made me but tonight, Shady’s rock-a-bye baby.” This quote is from the song “When I’m Gone” which is a song made about him and one of his daughters Hailie, in this song Marshall makes a lot of references to Shady including saying, “I turn around, find a gun on the ground Cock it, put it to my brain, scream Die Shady! And pop it.” Eminem started to split Shady and Marshall in his songs by making them almost exact opposites in personalities. Eminem is the one who takes pride in his technical raping abilities and crowns himself a Rap God in his song “Rap God” he asks a rhetorical question by saying, “Be a king? Think not, why be a king when you can be a God?” He has a very crude sense of humor and doesn't care about anyone or anything, in his song “The Real Slim Shady” he makes a comment on his friend Dr. Dre, “And Dr. Dre said, nothing you idiots Dr. Dre's dead, he's locked in my basement (ha ha)” the laugh after says a lot about
