This is a summary of my observation of the product in the beginning. Over the past six months I have mentored Sonya in a religious setting and in a group therapy setting. In the beginning the product displayed no evidence of the establishment and the use of referents and signs were often used when classifiers should have been used. In addition, some sign were produced inaccurately structurally and conceptually and it was evident that the ASL syntax conveyed a limited range of grammatical structures and the vocabulary depicted in the product was limited. This is a summary of my observation of the product over time. During our post conferences we discussed which ASL features to focus on to enhance the interpretation. In addition, videos
“Makaton is a signing system devised by a speech therapist in the 1970s to help adults with severe learning difficulties to communicate. It is a basic means of communication and encourages language development in children and adults with communication difficulties” (Mukherji et al, 2000, Pg. 94). The Makaton vocabulary was designed in 1972 by Marget Walker, she came up with the idea of Makaton through responding and working towards to needs of deaf adults with severe difficulties. Grove et al (1990) highlights that through working with these adults she was looking at signing to teach them language and communication skills. This shows that Walker developed a communication tool through working with the adults with disabilities, this shows
A few sets of parents underwent training in order to correctly teach their child the most effective way possible. The dependent variable being measured was the language skills their children learned over the course of a few months. months. This study reported, “that a group training model for the parents is beneficial in targeting language deficits observed in children with ASD” (Minjarez, 98). The children from the study presented enormous growth in their language skills as well as behavioral and emotional. These experiments as well as others currently being conducted help provide beneficial evidence that focus on other ways to provide education for children with ASD. Overall, while PRT itself has tremendous benefits, the fact that it can be brought into the home with evidence that it is effective is even better. This method has continued to be revised and studied for many years since the 1970’s and making it available to everyone who has a child with ASD is the overall

Before then, many CODAs and other family members had to interpret for their loved ones (Terp Topics). In most cases, the interpreting being done was poorly executed consecutive interpreting instead of the preferred simultaneous interpreting that is common among ASL interpreters today. Since family members were poorly trained, one of the RID’s first objectives was to set up training programs for interpreters. In the early seventies, some of the first Interpreter Training Programs (ITPs) were created, but they were not as up to par as they are now. Originally, they were six to eight weeks long, and now, they can range anywhere from two to four years (Terp Topics). Also during that time, the RID completed their first interpreter certification examinations in 1972, and in Tennessee, Maryville College set up the first Bachelor’s Degree for ASL Interpreting. Two years after the first certification examinations, the National Interpreter Trainer Consortium (NITC) was established to set the national standard for interpreter training programs (Stringham). Among other firsts, the World Association of Sign Language Interpreters (WASLI) was established in 2003 to set up national associations for the Deaf, support already standing Deaf organizations, and to help with the booming interpreter population (History). In the end, interpreting is still relatively new as organizations like the RID are not even 100 years old
While leaving the police department parking lot, I observed Sherry lying on the front driveway of the Griffith Fire Department. This officer and a citizen assisted Sherry back into the building. Sherry stated she finished voting and was walking back to her vehicle and tripped over the uneven sidewalk. Sherry suffered minor abrasions to her right knee and palms of her hands. This officer offered Sherry medical attention, however, she knowingly and willfully refused. Sherry stated she would be fine and departed on her own. This officer photographed the uneven ground.

When entering this program, I had certain preconceived notions of how I viewed society, individuals, and interactions. During this program, I have learned various theories both agreeing and disagreeing with my personal beliefs. While collaborative language therapy may not mesh with my beliefs completely, this theory integrates my views with theoretical foundations and approaches I can see myself utilizing.
During my work placement, I was allowed to be involved in the ESOL class, the aim of the ESOL class at (BWHAFS) it aim was to strengthen the English language skills of Somali women service user and its tailored around speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. I was able to use different ways to teach the women, I used sign language which was a transferable skill; the reason for using sign language was because some of the women just started learning how to recite the alphabet and numbering. Having done this, I have meant standard S3, S12, S18 of CDNOS (CDNOS, 2015). At the end of the 2hours lesson the women confident and much happier in themselves.

Her brother has to come and stop her at one point, but she is unresponsive to this stimuli. She starts hearing voices and screams when her brother takes away one of the dolls on the blue stool.
