I became captain of the Varsity Scholastic Scrimmage team in my junior year because of my dedication to the club. In a state full of corn fields and rural towns, many high school kids spend their teenage life training to compete at a high level on their respective stage. When training, these kids have one goal in mind; the state championship. The state championship events in Iowa bring in thousands of fans and create some of the greatest atmospheres in high school sports. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to make it to these championship events. Whether they have to stay back home and work or do not have the funds to afford the trip not everyone gets the chance to go watch their favorite teams at state. In the past, these people had been fortunate enough to have the ability to turn on their TV and catch the games, but with the recent television agreement made between the Iowa High School Sports Network and CSN Chicago that privilege is no longer available to everyone in the state. In a state full of fierce competition, people should have the opportunity to watch the championship events from border to border.
