**Hello guys,** A question that we all have to ask ourselves at some point is **Should I get a new computer?** Sometimes you ask yourself because your computer doesn't seem to be able to handle all your games and programs as fast as it used to and other times, you're just trying to convince yourself that you need a new one so you can upgrade to the latest and greatest. That's another case where having a more powerful computer can probably save you way more time and money in the long run. It doesn't have to be a job either, it could be a hobby you spend a lot of time on. If you get to the point where your computer makes it not necessarily impossible, but impractical to do something you either need or really want to do, then I think it's totally justifiable to …show more content…
Honestly, it probably wouldn't make sense to upgrade the whole computer just for game performance, unless it's really old. You'd probably be able to get away with just upgrading the graphics card or maybe it is the case where the computer overall is pretty slow and frustrating. I still wouldn't just jump right into a new computer because there are a few options you can take
The most important question you will need to ask yourself is: what do I need or want a computer for? What tasks do I want to be able to accomplish? It can be very easy to get seduced by offers of higher performance and state of the art graphics, but if you never use the computer to its full potential, then that is simply money wasted. Conversely, if you wanted to use a computer for gaming or creative
Have you ever wondered how much money people have spent on their home computer? Does it always have to be an expensive investment? Is building your own computer very difficult? These are some of many important questions people ask when searching for a new computer. Well, stop looking and start researching. You will see that there are many advantages to building your own computer. When people build their own computers, they typically have no issues with hardware, unlike pre-built computers that you usually see in Best Buy, Walmart, Target, and even Micro Center. Their warranties are brief and limited, and when there is a problem, it can be a hassle to send back. But when you buy all the components in a computer and built it yourself, you can usually find out what’s wrong by using the process of elimination. People should not be afraid of building computers because it can be very educational, fun, and can possibly be a career if you are really interested in it.
One of the problems with buying a computer is that when you buy one it is pre built, and all of the components are chosen for you. If you want to upgrade a prebuilt computer you have to send it into the manufacturer to change out certain components, or if it is broken the company has to send out a tech. to work on it. This can take away time for the user to work with it. The last problem with buying a computer is that there is a lot of hype about the newest and best computer. This creates a problem because you may just buy the PC without knowing much about it, and you just buy it to have the best out there even though it may be worse than building your
It's 2014, 7 years after the debut of Apple's first smartphone, 6 years since Google launched its direct competitor and 4 years after Microsoft did the same. Whether you are an Android or Windows user, an Apple loyalist or a newcomer to smartphone section altogether there's never been a better time to buy the iPhone.
The same goes for phones and computers, i.e. you can easily buy a phone or a PC that is much faster and has much more storage capacity than you need. Whenever renewing these items, check that you only buy what is needed, e.g. PCs and smart phones allow you to check which resources they utilize.
When we first buy a new computer we typically don’t have any concern about the computer malfunctioning. We expect everything to work exactly
The market of computers has many different options and brands for customers to choose from. Everybody has their own opinion on why they buy a certain brand and what they think are the best qualities on a computer. The knowledge buyers have can vary from someone who knows everything about the computer and how it works on the inside; to the average buyer who mainly needs it for school, business, or personal everyday use.
Lets start off with the basics, and how your computer functions. If your computer is a multi-tasking, gaming computer. Then you will need a few performance enhancers. Enhancers such as programs, hardware, and maintenance. Looking for a new computer that is for gaming? If your wanting to buy a new computer, you will need one that will last 5 years plus. Get one with the following, 2 GB of RAM, 512 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800 GTX, and dual core processor. These are just the easy basics that you should be looking for when buying a new computer. Program Sweep: Make sure the only program on your computer is the operating system. The operating system, for example is Windows 7. My computer is a 2007 model, and its getting old. It runs brand new, but the hardware can 't handle the new type of games that are out there. I have a PC, so its easy to replace the hardware, and this makes getting parts easier. The performance hardware on my PC are, 2 GB RAM, dual core processor, and a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE. Programs that Increase Performance: Something you will want to buy is Tuneup Utilities. This program is great because it automatically increases your computers response rate. From start up, to shutdown. It will run a Live Optimization. It also comes with programs that are like a upgraded maintenance kit for your computer. From disk defragment, to gain disk space. Computer Manufacturer: DELL is a great computer manufacturer to buy from. Their site provides you with updates, programs,
‘Most desktops offer a better price-to-performance ratio’ (Kb.wisc.edu, 2014), they are also the most versatile in terms of upgrading. Although it is possible in many cases to replace the RAM and hard drive in a laptop, a desktop allows for all the main components of a computer
Would you know how to fix your computer if it crashed and started to malfunction? What if some parts were not working? Knowing desktop hardware if you own a computer is important. Say if one part of your computer is malfunctioning and you knew which part, you could easily replace that part if it is able to be replaced. However, these breakthroughs have caused this rapid growth to come to an end. As the vast spread of these technologies made personal computers become a commodity, where customers are looking for the best bargains in terms of price from mass dealers; rather than looking for professional advice on what’s best for them from a certified computer dealer.
I recently began to venture into computer gaming and in seeing the pros and cons of building your own system versus buying a prebuilt, decided that I was going to build my own computer. With no sound foundation in this new venture I decided that I was going to learn as much as I could about each component before making such a big investment and quite possibly, immediately breaking it. After looking at a few different pieces of equipment, I found myself looking at the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit). One of the first articles I read was a gaming enthusiast that was explaining how people who purchased the top of the line GPU a few years ago for an outrageous price, were being outperformed by a newer GPU for a much lower price. This sparked my
Another feature that some CPU’s have is called Hyper Threading. This is a process in which a single CPU acts like two separate CPU’s. It splits each core in half, so that it can perform multitasking a little bit faster. A common misconception is that Hyper Threading is the same as just doubling the cores, and this is not true. The number of cores are doubled, but not the power of the cores. The power of the cores are split in half. Hyper Threading does not have a substantial influence in the speed of the computer, but it will help a little when multitasking. If the computer is being used for gaming, then Hyper Threading will not have an impact in the quality of the game. If the computer is being used for video
Technology changes so rapidly. It is sometimes really hard to believe that the laptops, tablets, smartphones and touchpads that we use today are descendants of the supercomputer that once used to occupy the whole room. During a press conference many years ago, Bill Gates offered his opinion that anything greater than 500MB of hard drive memory would be pointlessly unnecessary.
The higher the processor rate, the faster in which a processor can process information and thus the quicker it will be. In some instances, individuals boost clock speed by ‘overclocking,’ a term used to push the clock speed beyond the manufacturers recommendation. This is common for those who use their computers for gaming. However, doing so will void the warranty and can overheat the CPU.
