There is a large variety of equipment available in today 's market for computer based music creation. If money is not an issue, the technology can give scope to endless possibilities. However, if funds are limited, you can still produce a respectable piece of music using inexpensive equipment. The nature of hardware and software needed is determined by the capacity in which you are intending to use it for and what you are aiming to achieve.

The most common and reputable OS used in computers is Microsoft Windows and Apple MacOS. Internet research suggests that many of the latest DAW software companies recommend Windows 7 or 8 for Microsoft and OS X 10.8/10.9 for Mac.

Microsoft Windows offers the most flexibility in terms of computer choice, as it is not limited to one brand, whereas MacOS will only run on Apple computers.
