Would you be willing to stand up for the right thing even if everyone around you thought it was wrong? This is a story that talks about how one person stood up for something that he believed and he stuck with it even though everyone around him thought that he was not in the right mind for thinking the way he did.
Bob had always been a good student and he made great grades in school. He the type of student a teacher dreamed for so you might expect the surprise of the people around him including his family and his teachers when he decided to dropout of school and start his own small business.
No one supported this move especially his parents and everyone told him that he was being out of his mind and that he should concentrate on his school
’s case because he knew he would need a new job to make money and provide for him and his family, so he tried something and it ended up working out very well in the end.
Another great example of standing up for what you believe in is my friend Jerry. My friend Jerry shared with me about a time
The theme that anyone can stand up for themselves and others by being an upstander instead of a bystander is exposed by Peck’s use of inner thinking and revealing actions. The author’s
Director and actor Spike Lee presents his "truth" about race relations in his movie Do the Right Thing. The film exhibits the spectacle of black discrimination and racial altercations. Through serious, angry, and loud sounds, Lee stays true to the ethnicity of his characters, all of which reflect their own individualism. Lee uses insulting diction and intense scenes to show how severe racism can lead to violence.
Why is it important to stand up for what you believe in? It’s important to stand up for what you believe in because we all have an opinion in what we believe and what we don’t believe in like i believe in a god that once we die we will go with him for our eternal life but someone else might believe in reincarnation which means once we die we will comeback as someone else. But if people who believe in god meets someone who believes in reincarnation might fight about who is right and they might talk someone down in what they believe in. Even though we don’t know what or who is right there is always gonna be someone who is gonna fight over what they believe in even though we don’t know who is right about what they believe in.
“To stand up for what you believe in is more important than to be scared of imprisonment or death.” – Socrates The Apology
1. Have you ever stood up for something that wasn’t popular with everyone else? Do you find it difficult to stand up for what you believe of no one else agrees?
Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I am here today to encourage my peers and to also challenge my peers. The message I have focused on today is critical for the future is standing up for what is right. The future of humanity depends on our ability to speak and stand up for what we believe in and our values. We must use the youth to help this work and make this society a much more supportive and understanding society to live in. Today, I will discuss three texts that deal with the issue “Standing up for what is right”. These texts are: “WorldShaker” written by Richard Harland, Bob Marley’s song “Get Up, Stand Up” and the song “Caught in the Crowd” written by Kate
He said the constant moving made him more willing to take risks and change. However, it also made him introverted as a child. He decided didn’t want to make friends if he would have to move and leave them in two years.
All through school, Bob played football and track. He was very athletic and quite small, which made him good at football, because he could dash down the fields. He was especially good at track, he held the number one time in the state on the 100 meter dash for multiple years.
There comes a time, in most citizens’ lives when they must stand against their government to produce change. Change can only be acquired if people take the necessary actions for it to take place. Nelson Mandela was a historical revolutionist who helped his people in Africa, to revolt against the government, in order to bring about change. As a result, he was sentenced to prison for 27 years for trying to overthrow the government. Many revolutionist, such as Arundhati Roy and Martin Luther King Jr., explain in their essays how the role of the citizen is to stand against injustice, and how the government labels them as anti-national because of it.
If you asked for advice from people, most would say, "just put your head down and blend into the crowd." But where would we be today if great thinkers like Thomas Edison just "blended in"? To be frank, America would be quite unlightened. Society brainwashes anyone into thinking or saying what society wants people to say or think. No matter what though, sticking up for what you believe in should always be important to everyone. Standing out of the crowd to make a point for what you believe in is always the right thing to do even if it seems wrong.
The weather is sizzling hot and tensions are slowly coming to a boil in this Bedford-Stuyvesant Brooklyn neighborhood. Slowly but surely we see the heat melt away the barriers that were keeping anger from rising to the surface. The Blacks and the Hispanics own the streets the Koreans own the corner store and of course the Italians own the pizzeria, the Cops who happen to be all Caucasian, prowl the streets inside out, looking for anyone to harass. Toes are then stepped on and apologies are not made. Spike Lee creates the perfect set-up for a modern day in Bed-Stuyvesant. Without fail Spike Lee is transformed into an anthropologist. Spike Lee’s goal is to allow viewers to glimpse into the lives of real people and into a neighborhood they
Reading from when he dropped out, you would not think that much success would come to him. After he had gotten fired, he was lost for a while. He felt as if he let everyone down. It really dawned on him, but he knew he wanted to continue doing what he loved.
In the real world, we can connect to the people who do not stand up for themselves in their life, you need to be courageous and positive every time.
