Coming from an undergraduate institution that focused on providing a ground-breaking and revolutionary education, I wanted to continue receiving an education that is the fruit of research and experience. NYU's
I will possibly find myself involved in various programs outside the classroom which may include arts, media, cooking, culture, religion, recreation, technology, sports and athletics. I can even get the opportunity to join the student clubs and as a fact there are more than 50 clubs at NYU-AD. Or I could even create my own club to go out into the community and find myself involved in various service oriented activities. NYU-AD is also home for multidisciplinary labs and research centers. NYU can prepare me for the challenges and opportunities of this interconnected world. In addition to that, it creates a unique capacity for student to access the facilities at the entire university
Growing up the main question a child is asked is, “What do you want to be when you grow up? “ , and most kids respond saying a doctor, lawyer, or a cop. In reality not everyone sticks to their first idea, and it’s slim that they actual start working in the chosen career. Therefore, I have decided; as well as, grew interest in being a dental assistant for a pediatric office.

Being a first year student at the Fortis Institute Dental Hygiene School, I have experienced many wonderful things. I have made new friendships, enhancing my learning experience, furthering my career, and my personal favorite experience, clinic. I have learned many techniques from observing the other students during this time. Also, being in the clinic had shown me that being an RDH is what I want to do. A career in Dentistry is my main goal in life. I want to pursue a career in Dentistry for many reasons. Being a Dentist, you get to aid people and make them feel better about themselves. I have the personal qualities to be a Dentist and know that I would be great at the job. I would look forward to going to work every day. Dentistry contains many tools and oral practices that I am not familiar with. It would be awesome to get to be familiar with the lifestyle of a Dentist. Someday, I might even be able to live their lifestyle. Focusing in school is the main priority for all jobs. Dentistry also involves a diverse (longer) college route than most. This means that the academic requirements to be a Dentist are quite time consuming, but the
To start, I have always had an interest in the health field and knew it was where I saw my future. I came across dental hygiene and quickly became fascinated. I learned just how important it can be and how many tend to overlook it. Given the opportunity, I would like to make sure my patients understand the importance of dental hygiene and share my knowledge. I feel because I have been given an opportunity that others weren’t so fortunate to receive; it is my responsibility to give back. I come from a small community in Northern New Mexico in which I plan to return and offer my knowledge and skills. I also have plans of doing missionary work for those who are unable to afford dental care. To be accepted into the prestigious Division of Dental
Regardless of your political stance, dental care is a service that all people should have access to, privately, or publicly. In the United States alone, millions of Native Americans on reservations are stifled from receiving the much needed dental care they require, the consequences are harmful to their health and prosperity.
I knew I was passionate about helping and influencing people; however, I was still finding my interest. Yet, my experience has allowed me to direct my interest towards a career in dental hygiene.

A girl, long black hair falling like curtains around her face, sat in her college classes with no friends, nearly invisible, this was me on my first day of college in the United States. Growing up as a little village girl, ironing my school dresses before sunrise each morning, combing my hair, packing my lunch, completing my homework with precision after school each day, and then helping my grandmother in the evenings, made up my childhood routine. I spent my childhood being raised by and living with my grandparents in a village in India. These were some of the best days of my life. Our relationship provided me with a unique gift to learn about their life experiences and wisdom. I loved being my grandfather’s grocery shopping companion and my grandmother always told the best bedtime stories that were oral traditions passed down for generations.

The campus proximity to New York City would allow for many internships opportunities in English or Law and provides me with numerous opportunities to explore different cultures and gain new perspectives of the world. New York University has all the qualities that I look for in a college and it would be an honor to continue my education at such an established
