Topic: Leadership “Leadership is cause, everything else is effect”—By Stephen Adei Leadership is the ability to influence others towards achieving a goal that will benefit a community, an organization, and a nation as a whole. A leader sets goals, communicates the goals clearly to follows, set conditions for achieving the goals, guide followers towards achieving the set goals and increase the morale of followers through motivation. A leader also sets values underlying the operations that are geared towards achieving the set goals. I think a good leader should have the following qualities. A leader should be ethical. An ethical leader is one who does the right thing when no one is watching. S/he sees moral issues in decisions and situations.
Being a leader is an important position to fulfill because not everyone carries leadership qualities. In order to become a good leader, this person must obtain specific qualities which should come to them naturally. However every good leader still needs to work on their qualities to become an even greater leader which may require a long time of work. Being a good leader can be hard because not everyone is going to agree with the decisions being made. Every good leader should have certain qualities that will help them succeed in every situation. A good leader should qualities such as being passionate and motivated in everything they do, to have patience when working with others, and to be fearless.
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
All of us have a natural leadership style within us. However, the way we go about displaying this natural leadership defines whether we are a good leader or not. A good leader is someone who helps teach, respect, and inspire the lives of individuals around them. Also, a good leader is someone who is not afraid to step up and take action when it is needed to be. As a result of stepping up and taking action, they are radiating the natural confidence and power that a good and strong leader should contain. In all, a good leader is someone who listens and cares about the lives of the individuals that surround them, and every action and decision they make is for the benefit of the greater good.
According to Webster’s Dictionary, leadership is the power or ability to lead other people, the act or instance of leading. I believe that Leadership is an art, the art to get others to follow and accomplish a common goal or task in a harmonic manner. A leader can be shown in all kinds of shapes and forms. To be a great leader many people believe it consists of modeling the way, inspiring a shared vision, enabling others to act, and encouraging the heart. Over the course of me learning how to become a better leader and being in leadership roles, I’ve learned that all these are very necessary to be a great leader.
Leadership is defined as the ability to accomplish a set goal(s) due to the act of inspiring and motivating a group of your peers. Former United States president Dwight D. Eisenhower made famous a quote that stated, “Leadership consists of nothing but taking responsibility for everything that goes wrong and giving your subordinates credit for everything that goes well.” (Notable-quotes.com). One of the most important aspects of the work area is leadership. Without leadership, there will be no guidance to for teamwork and the percentage of successful goal will be slim to none. Becoming a great leader is no easy feat however. An exceptional leader must lock in on specific attributes such as intellect, moral character, and human

My idea of leadership is being able to inspire others, motivate, set a vision, communicate, respect others, and of course, lead by example. A leader must have an honest understanding of who they are, what they know, and what they are capable of. To be a successful leader, you have to be able to convince your followers, not just yourself or your superiors, that you are worthy of being followed. In my opinion, this can build confidence in their followers to have faith in you, in order to be able to lead. I strongly believe that good leaders are made rather, and not born. If you have the desire and willpower, you can become an effective leader. Good leaders are developed through a never ending process of self-study, education, training, and
Ethical leaders espouse moral values, altruism, civic virtue, good citizenship behavior and conscientiousness both in their personal and professional lives. They imbibe the same core values in their followers. They demonstrate moral judgement in their decision making process, influenced by the long term interest of the stake holders. Also ethical leaders hold their followers accountable for their conduct and establish a reward and vicarious learning process for ethical conducts
Ethical leader’s to me is someone who is helpful, honest, and responsible and someone who accepts your own core values. Leaders who lead by example but also have the ability to recognize talented individual who show the aptitude and foresight to finish the idea at hand. Some who makes the hard decisions even if it does not help further one’s career. Instead the decisions one makes are being made for advancement for all involve in the process.
Ethics is defined as distinguishing between right and wrong. Ethical leadership is leading in a manner where everyone's views and rights are taken into consideration. All leaders should be role models, but often times some are not. Leaders who lead ethically are role models, they show others the importance of good conduct and in turn, help others become ethical themselves. Being ethical forces you to be more mindful of your environment, causing you to make your decisions more carefully. Ethical people are generally in a growth mindset rather than a fixed mindset which is crucial to being able to lead well. Communication is key in leadership and ethical leaders are able to communicate more effectively. You don't have to be ethical to be a leader, but being ethical is what makes for a successful leader.
Leaders who are ethical are people-oriented, and also aware of how their decisions impact others, and use their social power to serve the greater good instead of self-serving interests.
What qualities make a good leader? You can ask a hundred different people, and you will get a hundred different answers. A good leader is someone who accomplishes the mission, has the respect of their subordinates, and makes the difficult decisions when needed. For me, I believe that a great leader needs to have a variety of qualities, but most importantly a sense of fairness, hard work/care, and common consideration for others. Different experiences throughout my life and time at West Point have lead me to believe that these three tenants are what are most needed for a great leader. In terms of a leader’s moral character, common consideration has the greatest influence on the success of a leader, because without common consideration, a
Leadership is defined in Webster’s Dictionary as the “action of leading a group of people or an organization.” Leadership is also the ability to set trends, inspire, motivate, and sway others to produce desired results. There are different styles and ways of performing leadership and a good leader has the ability to take ordinary people, put them all together, and hopefully yield successful results. For organizations to have sustained results from their performance there must be a good balance of business insight, technical and interpersonal skills, and good team dynamics. A leader must know how to use all these areas as well as trust and communicate with their people in
From research we see that there are many qualities that people value in leaders. Some of these qualities include: having high standards, supportive, inquisitive, involved, honest and having integrity. When I think about leadership I think of a person who is self-aware and always striving for improvement. To be a good leader you need to know how your personal biases may impact decision making in various situations. Bias or values can effect how you interact with those you come in contact with on a daily basis. A good leader can set the tone for students, staff, and parents by being consistent and clear in thoughts and in actions. The leader is the foundation of the building.
“Ethical leadership is leadership that is directed by respect for ethical beliefs and values and for the dignity and rights of others. It is thus related to concepts such as trust, honesty, consideration, charisma and fairness.”
