The stock market game assignment was a new learning experience. The simulation gave us $100,000.00 to buy and sell domestic equities. The guidelines made the game a bit more straightforward by not allowing students to trade certain items. This assignment gave students the opportunity to see how the trading market works. Overall the stock market game assignment was a great way for any student to learn how the market works by having hands on experience with buying and trading their own stocks.
Coming into the is assignment I knew a few things about the stock market such as when it opens and closes,to always buy low and sell high. I knew there was trading fees but this game did not include it into the trades. I had a few stocks in mind that

This can help determine whether or not to sell or buy more as the stock might be in the bull market. I made more than a few mistakes because I did not read and analyze the stock more. The first mistake was selling Fitbit too early. The stock I thought would be on the rise because everyone would be buying it for a christmas gift. However during the two weeks that I held it Fitbit dropped quite a bit. Considering I bought 3000 stocks of FIT I was worry. When FIT rose one day I sold it immediately. It turned out that there was a came that FIT was being bought by a chinese company. The stock rose over one dollar which would have made my portfolio …show more content…
I believe that people should invest safely into the market by buying either mutual funds or going to someone that will make sure they can manage a positive grossing portfolio. My problem with the stock market is I like to gamble and this is gambling, I enjoy buying more quantity of stocks instead of diversifying more of my portfolio. During this entire project I picked out incredible stocks. If I just waited to sell the stocks I would have made over 20,000 dollars. However, no one can guess where the market would turn out. The thursday before the assignment was due I was in second place and that afternoon the tech stocks just crash and keep going into
The Candlestick chart has formed a Bullish pattern which suggests that buyers are entering into the stock. The stock should continue higher for the short-term. By looking at Intuit’s charts we can observe that Intuit has had steady gains despite a period of loss between mid-July and mid-August. We can also see that it has a Support at 43.44 and Resistance at 47.42. If it breaks this resistance the stock should continue higher to 50.13. The close proximity of resistance at 47.42 will be focused on as a possible refraction from this level may occur.
In order to succeed in any business, it is extremely important to understand the stock market. In this assignment we were asked to follow the stock market continuously for four months and understand the market. The stock market is a global marketplace, where goods and services are traded in the form of equities.
The company does a lot of technology work. The best stock i had was Microsoft. I bought 111 shares of it and it went up 4.41% since i bought it. I made a total of $260 off of it. This was the stock that i had originally wanted to invest all my money into but i backed out of my plan and invested into multiple stocks to decrease my risk. The reason i had invested into seven stocks was that i knew some would drop and some would gain so i wanted to balance out my money that way if one stock started doing really bad i would have another one doing good, decreasing my risk. When i bought my stocks i decided that i would just leave them alone and see how the gain or decrease. I didn't want to keep selling and buying more. This strategy didn't work out so well because my US oil stock dropped so low. i should've sold it when it was reasonable and bout something that would make me money. Later down the road that stock would make me a lot of money when the price of oil goes up and that why i think i kept it instead of selling
For many people, the star market is a popular method for obtaining money quickly. Despite the risks, many people invest their money in stocks. The stock market allows the public to buy shares of a company, or a stock. These shares come in the form of an official document, and grants you a small fraction of the company you invested in. As companies do well, their stocks are worth more. Stocks can be bought and sold through the help of a stockbroker. The goal is to buy a share of a company, then later sell the share for more money than you bought it for. However, the market is risky; this is proven by multiple crashes in the market, resulting in loss of money.
The company I chose to invest in for the virtual stock game is Costco. Costco’s ticker symbol is COST. I purchased one share of Costco at $149.24, but it is currently selling at $150.80.
The purpose of participating in the stock market game is to explore the fundamentals of the stock market. It does this by providing a tangible, real-time simulation of the stock market, and how current events affect the DOW. The stock market game also teaches students to make smart decisions and most importantly to be patient.
Playing the stock market game taught me how to invest through trading with stocks among companies. I believe that it would give me insight in the future when I’m dealing with real-life investments giving me the knowledge of buying, selling, shorting, and covering. Using actual money rather than theoretical money seems quite scary when it’s lost whenever it’s unpredictable where the money will end up. In my opinion, I think that the main purpose of the game is to demonstrate the reality of stocks and how they function. Even though the game was fake, it gave me real worries about the chances that I could have made either losing it or winning it. Although I did not win, it did give the experiences that I need for my daily life. I should instead go with my instincts
Monday, September 10, 2012, I started Stock-Trak, an online portfolio game. Stock- Trak allowed me to gain hands on experience testing different investment strategies in a risk-free, yet realistic environment. From September 10 to November 16, 2012, I took part in one such simulation by managing an online Stock-Trak portfolio. I was given an initial amount of $100,000 pretend cash with which to invest. All monetary decisions were at my discretion. This paper discusses my trading experience , my portfolio’s performance, the strategies used during the simulation, what I learned in the process, and how I will implement the knowledge gained from the simulation in future investments.
For the month of December, I was given an assignment consisting of $100,000 and four stocks to invest in. My four stocks were The Ralph Lauren Corp., Visa Inc., Master card Inc. and The Chevron Corp. As stated I was given a month to record my data and I ended up with a total capital gain of $5,518.36 for the one month period for my investments. I have to thank you Mr. Acker, this project was not difficult, but it did confuse me. Receiving this assignment scared me in a way, because I didn’t know what I was getting into. The finance world is scary and tricky, one minute the market is doing good and other days it would be low. While calculating my capital gains or losses I thought I would lose a larger

On the 8th October of 2014, Mr. Moore has given me and everyone that have him for Economic an assignment in which we have to compete with everyone in that period, period 5 for me, by trading stocks in order to gain money to contest and win the game and the prize for the winner is to not write a 10 pages essay if he gain more than 25% and have a 10% boot to his/her grade, for the second person in that period’s lit, he/she will have a 5% boot and also the same in the essay. And the game end in the 19th December of 2014,I have lost the contest by not gaining but losing the money in which 26.6% of $5,000 that i have in my account when i started, so my punishment for losing is to writing a 10 pages essay that follow the teacher’s expectation. Now about the experience that i have throught the game is that stock is not normal, it is always changing, and sometimes it changes in a big amount that you can gain a big amount of money in an instant but of course you can lose all of your money and also make your account goes negative. Stock market is like gambling, you don’t know if you can win or not, look like u win but turn out u lost all the money or it goes the other way. When the game ends, I end up losing 26.6% of $5,000 that I have because i didn’t understand the concept of the game that much like others who made profits. One of my biggest trades that I made was the buy of CZR company with 289 shares with an amount of $15.71 each, because I saw that It started to going up but I
The Stock Market is a vast and confusing setting. It has influence on many aspects of the economy like pensions, bond markets, and even retirement accounts. However, many aren 't educated about how the Stock market works, how it affects the economy, the difference between stocks versus bond and mutual funds, nor the amount of illegal activities taking part within the stock market.
Our task for this project was to play a virtual stock market game on www.marketwatch.com. We had to read market related news and then buy and sell stocks of NASDAQ based on that news. I started playing from the 9th February till the game ended on 21st April. At the end of the game, my ranking was 11th out of 24 players and I had made a profit of $5401.48 at the end. I had actively taken part in this game, playing most days of the week when possible. I have learnt that stock prices do follow a random walk like we learnt from this course and that any new information that affects the stock prices has immediate

When thinking about financial institutions and how I can implement what I had learned, the first topic that came to mind was stocks, bond, wall street. The thought that there is a lot of money that can be made there peaked my interest ergo, this book written by Peter Lynch was intriguing. Because the amount of knowledge I know about Wall Street is insignificant, the understandings and experience of Mr. Lynch have been useful in my endeavors to acknowledge the rules that make up the trading rooms and actions people make in order to stay ahead of the market. Though this book covers just one opinion of many in the end, his expertise will only benefit partially
