The first year at the university, all of the students was living on campus dormitory. It was not just a place to stay, but it was also a way for fostering academic and multicultural program. The program is intended to facilitate the students to adapt to college life, student world and hone soft skills, such as communication, organizational skills, and understand the diversity. There were four students in one room. Therefore, I had three other roommates. It was the first experience for me to live in another place for a long time besides in my own home and also shared a room with three other students. The intensity of understanding the diversity has improved had more interactions with almost everyone that represent the ethnic and culture from western to the eastern islands of Indonesia. I would like to say that this is an essential emotional asset that could bring unity on our campus and also develop our nationality. I learned that we need to help each other in joy and sorrow in order to build success, not just for the study but also to build relationships emotionally with others. I had my first girlfriend when I was on my undergraduate at the same university. This first romantic relationship was made me that when we want to be loved by someone, we also need to love them. In addition, we also have to accept our personal differences in order to maintain a relationship. While I was in undergraduate university, I had my very close friends. Since we came from different cities and
They 're everywhere! McDonald 's hamburgers can be purchased in cities and suburbs, on riverfronts, in college football stadiums and in discount stores. There are fast food restaurants at most major road intersections, and billions of dollars are spent annually to advertise everything from fast food frozen yogurt to kid 's meals. Grocery stores have even gotten into the act with their own versions of fast food restaurants. Families with sick children can stay in Ronald McDonald houses located close to the hospital where the children are receiving treatment, and businesses routinely come to the aid of disaster victims.
Primarily, I am a part of Chinese group at Arizona state university, just same like me, they are many students came from China too. So we kind of stay together and play together like a family. Specially, we are living by self, and far away from family. If I have any problems or have troubles, then friends are the only hope. By the time, I can have people to share with my feelings, and my friends may give me better solutions to solve the problems. For example, before I came to Arizona state university. I tried looking for apartment around school area, there are many options online for me to pick, but I don’t know which one has best price and best location for freshman student. In addition, I find one of my middle school friend who has already studied in ASU, but I haven’t contact with him for a long time. After I started to text him, asked him some questions about ASU, and he was very happy to help me. Finally, he helped me to find an apartment around school with
Students in the classroom come from a variety of backgrounds. Their lives are shaped by their families, their communities, but also their peers in school whom they will spend hours a day with throughout their educational career. The ability to form relationships with others, to create lasting friendships that grow and evolve with time, is detrimental to all children and their development. Lacking the ability to do so, whether it is directly because of their conditions or because of how other students perceive them, can dramatically harm them emotionally and mentally.
What's mine is yours. Having lived a year in a student hostel I understood this phrase was the best to describe my first year student life. We shared everything: all of bright spots, all of difficult moments, all of the books and all of the cakes. My roommates are my best friends now and I trust them as I would myself. I believe amazing adventures and close friendship are waiting for us too! Also I believe, my dear roommate, you’ll get at least one new hobby living with me. I promise I’ll share to you with my frenzy for mountains. Oh, that’s really amazing! I’m a participant of the university tourist all around team(sports tourism university team member) and every weekend we get to go to incredibly picturesque places of Zailiyskiy Alatau.
Making friends on U.S. campuses could be challenging for those who are an international students. It’s not easy to make friends with American students because they tend to be independent and keep distance from others. In Rebekah Nathan’s book “My Freshman Year”, Nathan claims that social life and developing friendships on U.S. campuses is difficult for international students because American students would make them feel uncomfortable and invisible at times. Nathan’s argues that American students don’t put any effort in talking to students from different race, ethnic, and background. International students are usually on their own or be with their friends since Americans wouldn’t make friends with them. In nathan’s book, she discusses about the
During my first semester, I was struggling with understanding a few concepts in my COMM 290 course and decided to ask help from girls that I had initially met in my learning community. While studying, we discovered common interests, and eventually developed close friendships. In fact, we planned on becoming roommates, as we noticed that we worked well together more so during the early stages of our friendship.
The number of students attending the University of Alabama has reached a new high of 37,100. That number is a 2.4% increase from 2014 (uanews.ua.edu). As the number of students is predicted only to increase in the years to come, the University must reflect on the housing options for these 37,100 students. Freshman students required to live on campus face a difficult situation--lack of housing. With that being said, the best and most efficient way to cope with the ever growing population is to allow freshmen to live off campus, and build more apartments around campus to allow thousands of more students to have places to live in the future.
be at an educational disadvantage compared to the students attending the predominantly white suburban schools. (Batts, 2012).
Explain the linkages between the business case and moral case for diversity in organisations. Support your key arguments by sourcing ‘diversity statements disseminated/ publicised by Australian organisations to justify their claims for managing diversity.
Stock-Track Report Eugene Myslinsky - 208083420 For the past three months we have been participating in a Stock-Trak Simulation exercise to experience what it takes to trade in the stock market. In this report, we will explain which strategies I chose to follow, which investments were the most and least successful to my portfolio and lastly, what advice we would give those who are looking to trade with real money. Investment Strategy and Selection The strategy I employed for our Stock-Trak simulation was to diversify our portfolio among different sectors, various stocks with relatively low risk, and stocks which were positively/negatively
Eighty percent’s of transfer students coming to LIM College have to go to admissions for credit re-evaluation at least three times before graduation. Due to the fact that admissions don’t pay close attention to course descriptions and transfer credit with other colleges that LIM College are partners with. Many transfer students have problems to graduate on time as they were planning. However, if admission would follow the transfer credit policy, all full time transfer students should be able to graduate after two years from transferring. Study has shown that many students quit school after transferring to a different college because of the credit requirement. However, many colleges, including LIM College, have a maximum amount of transfer credit allowed (Admissions, 2014). Students should find out course transferability before enrolling and also check that the courses will total toward general and upper level courses. Although, LIM College has a maximum transfer credit requirement, transferring the right credit with help students be on the right track and graduate faster.
As I said, interestingly, in our dormitory the only room which has different kinds of roommates is our room. It is such that other students call our room as “room of diversity”. It’s the name that they ascribed to us because we have almost all categories of roommates from different provinces with various nationalities. For instance, Sebqatulla one of my roommates is from Herat. Due to having some described characteristics of this class, he fits in the second category. He is serious when we speak to him with a serious tone and he is witty and joking when we do so. In a single word he, adjusts and fits himself in the any environment he locates.
Our group has six members: 2 Thai students - Terng and Dear, 3 Indonesian students - Anthony, Antonia and Stanley and finally me – Aidar from Kazakhstan. All of us had different background and different culture,
After interviewing older students, I notice that lifelong learning not only develops the friendly and caring bond in the school, but also promotes harmonious family relationship. All the participants mentioned that they get along well with other classmates, they receive instructions and care from engaging and warming teachers, and their family relationship has improved since they started to study in the UA. However, only female students said that they shared and exchanged personal matters and kept in contact with each other after class.
