Many researches are educating pregnant women about the danger of cigarettes, alcohol and the potential negative effects of cigarettes, alcohol on fetus development. However, scarce research directly addresses specific effects of marijuana on pregnant women because women who use marijuana also tend to smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol and more likely to use other drugs such as cocaine and heroin. Thus, it is difficult to identify the precise effects of marijuana on pregnant women and on a fetus (Leemaqz, 2016.). Marijuana is the most commonly used illicit drug in the United State (Murray & McKinney, 2014). According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, 40-60% of marijuana users continue to use during pregnancy. Studies have also shown that marijuana crosses the placenta negatively affecting brain development, and increasing the risk of pre-term birth. Proposition 64, the California Marijuana Legalization Initiative for adult use just passed after the election, California is added into the list of 26 states legalizing marijuana for medical or recreational purpose which could increase the number of women using marijuana during pregnancy. Due to above evidences, doctors warn pregnant women, women planning to pregnancy and breastfeeding women that they should discontinue their use of marijuana and should consider alternative therapy.
It is this writer’s belief that these babies should be cared for by another family member or child welfare agency until the mother can prove that she is responsible. This would be measured by the mother attending counseling sessions where she learns about the dangers of drug abuse and she would also undergo random drug testing to assure the child will be safe in her care.

By the time he was only five years old Joey was taking six different medications, as much as three times a day. The side effects of the pharmaceutical drugs caused loss of appetite causing malnourishment and he was diagnosed with anorexia, his family watched him withered away. His mother looked for an alternative method, which she refers to as magic brownies. Twelve months later Joey has never been happier and had gained back the weight. In this case , just like the last, the medical marijuana used to medicate the condition was high in CBDs. Joey's mother went on to The Good Morning Show to share her story, in hopes that others can benefit from it, (Sircus, 2).
She reported being gone for about 1 night and refused to reveal who she had spent the night with. Mirna was prescribed an inhaler approximately 6 months ago and did not have it with her when she left home. She added that she has not had a need for it recently. Mirna told me that no one exploited her, touched her or sexually assaulted her while she was away from home. She told me she feels safe at home, but the fact is that she is bored. Mirna told me she would speak to Ms. Escobar about any problems she has, but does not care to as she is only bored. Mirna showed signs of deception when asked about marijuana use and once challenged she admitted she smokes weed. It should be noted she was stopped with a group of males on May 25, 2016 (136633) and among those males is her cousin Kristian Portillo (16-138739). Mirna denied any association or affiliation to any gangs. Mirna has had a prior runaway incident (14-825050) in Arlington County and as assault incident at school
Marijuana has been a debated issue for some time with many articles on the subject. The article being analyzed will be “The Truth About Medical Marijuana” by Carrie Shortsleeve, about her interview with Dr. Mahmoud ElSohly. This article will most likely piqué the interest of those who are seeking to use Marijuana as a source of treatment for their medical issues or even those that are just curious about the subject. The main focus is discussing the positive and adverse effects of the medical marijuana on society and medical patients, so Shortsleeve’s motivation of her article seems to try to give as much information as possible for her readers. So the question remains, does Shortsleeve do an adequate job of maintaining ethos, pathos, and logos

Medical marijuana had been the last resort for Hester, being that she had never been a user herself, but felt there was no where else to turn while her son was “knocking on death doors,”(Mother gives son marijuana to treat autism). She described Joey to be hostile, dangerous, and that his weight plummeted to just forty six pounds while using thirteen conventional medications to try and stifle his erratic behavior, but unfortunately all seemed to be failing (Mother gives son marijuana to treat autism). The marijuana was baked into quarter sized brownies and given to him every couple of days, rather than the other medications that were given to him three times a day. After the first use of the marijuana Hester reported a significant change in her son within hours, he was requesting food he never had before, and he had a calm attitude. After regular use of medical marijuana he gained thirty eight pounds, maintaining a more stable and healthy weight, his temper had nearly ceased to exist, and began to show signs of communication. “He is now no longer a danger to himself or society, and is like a completely different boy,” Hester told Good Morning America. Not only did it affect his overall body and mind but also cut down his once thirteen medications down to only three medications, working on getting it down to only two (Mother gives son marijuana to treat autism). Joey’s psychiatrist stated “it’s affect on Joey’s brain
How alarming would it sound when your young teen says weed is normal and it’s a way of life….the nightmare still doesn’t end as for most of our parents in NCR it rings a bell only when they face medico legal complications, some medical emergency or sever behavioural issues of their adolescents. This further gets complicated when this notorious cannabis leads to uncontrolled surge of dopamine in the brain and causes very ambiguous mood disturbances with obsessions.
