Vatican Café, an art piece that could be called many things, such as abstracted or a piece of cartoon characteristics. The oil on canvas painting is made by Jim Demomie in 2014. There is various of symbolism in this painting, for instance the title its’ self. Vatican Café, Vatican is the gathering of the entire bishops of the Roman Catholic Church and Cafe is a small restaurant. This painting has a great deal of religious symbolism within it. Didacticism to the veiwer, it is to entertain, but to also inform and instruct at the same time. An example of this would be the Vatican Café. From the first look at this art piece your first thoughts maybe, The Last Supper by Da Vinci. Futhermore, your connstation of the piece could be of …show more content…
What draws your attention to him would be the white hue behind his head. Vatican Café is overall a creative art piece, but with all art peices are ones opinion. How does one perceive an art work? Not everyone has the same veiw or feelings on one piece or another. A work could have flaws to one person, but at the same time the flaws could be the perfection to another. As in Vatican Café, the many colors to this painting could be the final touch to making this complete. Others, ideas could be that the colors are too many and loses your focus of the main points of the piece. Or that the cartoon characteristics make the painting look easy and child like. On the other hand, it can give the painting a simple kind way of showing the worst in a subject. Overall, what formally attracted me to this piece of art work would have been that it resembles The Last Supper. Not only does it resemble The Last Supper, but it does it in a humorous way. Although, it looks foolish at first, it has so many meanings behind it. Jim Denomie nationality is Indian. He said that in the Indian culture, to tell stories to kids about history we should learn from, they add humor to disguise the harshness. The cartoon caracteristics add that humor and foolishness, so that the harshness of the content is not to rash. I do personally like the true meaning behind this piece. Even at first glance you think this painting may be a joke of some sort. But doing more research on it, you relize the importants
I like this painting because of the feeling and memories it reminds me of. The water and rocks remind me of all my childhood memories of swimming in the water and hiking mountains. The bright and light colors create a cheerful and
At first glance I would describe this artwork as a busy piece of art, but taking a closer look I think the painting gives off a happy, positive and united feeling. The artwork overall is very detailed and there are many hidden messages making it something inspirational. I really like inspiring or any art with a deep meaning behind it. It gives off something even more special when there's a hidden important lesson in the artwork, which this painting has. All in all,
It is a famous example of Renaissance art showing portraiture, realism, and some perspective. In this painting there are four distinct characters. Each has a different expression that shows how they are feeling. There is also more detail in the faces then in any other parts of the painting. Another technique it demonstrates is heightened realism. Whereas before the Renaissance the figures may have been painted simply and in only enough detail to get the general idea across, these figures are shown more realistically. Lastly there is the technique of perspective as shown in the background of the painting. The sea stretches out into the sky and the land in the background is shown how it would look if the viewer was actually
Assumption Cathedral is famous for its murals. The walls are painted in extremely fine detail, and on the top of the walls there are images of God. On the middle of the
Sometimes words cannot exactly explain what we want to convey, so we need a visual to support it. A similar thing was observed in the article of Alan M. Dershowitz, he cleverly makes use of Ben Shah’s painting in the article to grab the attention of folks. The author writes about a murder case of a paymaster and a guard of the South Braintree by Sacco and Vanzetti, both were Italian immigrant anarchists. Surprisingly, the truth was not revealed that whether Sacco and Vanzetti were the killers and this case is still unsolved. I agree with the author that the trials could not get to the fair results. I believe that the painting is an ironic symbol of the justice. It silently expresses a lot what the text can’t. I think the painting adds words
My personal reaction to this art is that they are scary. Also, this is an old painting and it has to do something with religion.
The painting shows man and nature in harmony. A clear sign that he focused mostly on drawing is the geometric forms used in the painting. He used very calm tonality to give it the calmness. His artwork and brushwork are very fluid and focused. This painting has no historical meaning because this painting was after his transition from historical to landscape. Instead of telling a story it is supposed to evoke a calm mood. The golden light contributes to its peacefulness. Now that I have explained both paintings individually, in the following paragraph I will talk about their differences and what makes them different.
In my opinion, this work of art was truly amazing with the touch of darkness, mystery, and elegancy. The artist used the color mixture very well for that old antique look. The artist did very well in painting the background black and the woman black dress to distinguish the dress apart from the background. The phonograph is also distinguished from the background by painting white around the device. It gives that feeling of romance and darkness at the same time. The painting leaves the viewers of wanting more which the artist should had incorporated more things rather than just the woman and the phonograph. In the end, the masterpiece is absolutely amazing with a touch of the old century and modern
The reason I this piece of artwork appealed to me was because of the vivid use of colors. The bright pastels of pinks, yellows, blues and purples caught my eye and drew me in. They created a bright, relaxed, elegant and uplifting feeling to the setting. What I thought was interesting was that at first glance you see a woman, but rather than looking joyful, she seems upset or confused. Due to the colors of the setting I imaged the women’s emotion would match the bright and uplifting colors. I thought the artist’s choice of color was unique because I would typically imagine the colors to be gray and black with the emotion of confusion and sadness. It really causes the viewer to have to examine the image as a whole as well as piece by piece.
Northern Art often focused on the world at large; they rarely painted religious works of art without including some sort of symbolism of the real world in there artworks. In terms of the real world, in the context of this painting, I feel that the architecture and the clothing take away from the religious focus. The clothing is very detailed and the oil
<br>At the bottom left side of the painting is a man about to be eaten by a termite who has a game table on his head. This is illustrating that the tables are turned on the man who has committed some terrible crime. In the Inferno this is represented by Lucifer eating the three worst sinners, Judas Iscariot, Brutus, and Cassius, all who betrayed their
The painting illustrates the artist’s rendering of what happened to Chief Wi-jún-jon when integrated into the white culture following a trip to Washington, DC in 1832. On this returning side you see no Indian heritage, it has been destroyed by civilization. The painting is a great view through the artist’s eyes and mind as to how he felt about the change which occurred with the Chief during his time. George Catlin truly honored and respected the Indians that he captured so elegantly in his paintings and I believe he felt saddened when Chief Wi-jún-jon returned to his native people looking and acting liking a white person.
When I see the painting the shape is symmetric in the sense that there are the same amount of people on both sides of Jesus. The genre of this painting is Christian art. There are also four panels on both sides of the walls. In my opinion, the target audience that this painting was intended for are those who are believers of Christ. I feel this way because I think that this painting portrays the event that is talked about in the bible in the scripture Matthew 26, verse 21 where Jesus says “…"Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.". He then continues in verse 23 saying, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me”. In the painting, you can clearly see the man two seats away from his right reaching for the bowl at the same time as Christ. This event lead to the Holy Eucharist, also known as communion or the Lord’s Supper where Christ takes the bread which was to symbolize his body and wine which was to symbolize his
I personally get a sense of perfection in a human world when I look at this painting, which is a bit misleading but appropriate for a time in which men were beginning to question the divine and finding answers in the natural world where science and mathematical solutions were starting to make sense of everything around us.
When I saw the painting for the first time it grabbed my attention. At first I thought it was the beautiful colors that attracted me to the painting, but it was more. In the picture the shadowy men look scared. They looked as though they were trying to run away from something and this lake that forms into this river that is surrounded by tall grass is the way out, or at least a place to hide until the coast is clear. During that time in my life I felt
