TDEC Internship Experience I did my internship with Tennessee Department and Environment and Conservation (TDEC). Overall my experience was wonderful and would recommend any undergrad to go through the process to get an internship. Through this internship, I learn valuable experience and knowledge that I am unable to get in traditional undergraduate classes. I was also able to gain a great reference for when I am applying for career jobs. I went in every Thursday from 11:15 to 5:15 and Friday from 7:30 to 11:30. I worked 10 hours a week for 15 weeks, totaling 150 hours. On Thursdays, a got experience working in the administrative side of TDEC, where I helped with organization, updating information, and filing. On Fridays, I primarily got to
The process of finding an internship was very stressful for me. I honestly had no idea where to start or even what I was interested in. It took me many weeks to do research into different facilities that had internships available. After calling tons of organizations I finally interviewed at one that felt right for me. The interview took place with Laura Crain, who I also interviewed for this essay. The internship is at the McHenry County Substance Abuse Coalition.
As an accounting major, I would have preferred to intern for a company that would utilize my accounting skills. There were not that many accounting and finance opportunities that were offered for this semester. Sadly, there was a student who dropped the internship due to the lack of accounting firms who were interested in taking on an intern. However, the internship organization was flexible and accommodating to all the interns. Chris Gaines has been a vital part of the internship program. My experience has been positive due to Chris Gaines direct interaction during weeks where we met as a class and always readily in
For my internship, I served under the Allegheny County Health Department in Pittsburgh, PA. I served as the National Health Corps Member for the Women, Infants, and Children Program as their Care Coordinator for all nine offices. Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a supplemental nutrition agency that targets pregnant and postpartum women and young children ages 5 and under who are at risk of malnutrition. My supervisor Annie Nagy along with my mentors in the office made sure I was able to receive all of the materials and resources I would need to have a complete and successful internship.
I have been interested in Technology and certain aspects of Science since I was a child. As I became older I came to a realization of how much I love Technology; I began to excel in my technology and engineering classes but not do as great in my science classes. I began to loathe science as I took upon the love of Engineering. As I have researched different types of engineering in previous years, I have stumbled across Agricultural and Environmental Engineering. I have decided instead of seeing science a challenge I cannot overcome I should work harder to be better at the subject. Therefore, I can combine my love for the planet and horticulture with my love for technology and engineering. Having an internship at USDA as a Senior will further help me achieve my goal of having a career in the STEM field. I feel having an Internship my senior year will cause me to further succeed as the research I will hopefully be doing can cause me to grasp a better understanding of the different types of careers open to me in the future.
I selected this particular internship because it revolves around education and communication skills, both of which are featured in my internship. This internship focusses on “informal science education and engaging the public about science”. There are a few similarities between this internship and mine. Science education is the primary goal of this internship and my internship focusses on teaching urban ecology. The second similarity is that you must be good at presenting information you have been previously trained on.
As a paralegal intern, handling administrative duties such as scheduling while quickly learning and applying new knowledge to support the firm’s immigration caseload. Helped in implementing computerize filing system and interviewed clients for case intake. During the internship, got hands on practice with all the legal procedures and got the practical done with the theories which I learned in school courses. Mr. Sharif would take me to the Huntsville prison to help in translating and have proper communication with the inmates. I am an immigrant from Pakistan so the multicultural clients feel more comfortable in approaching the attorney and staff. The experience was extremely self-learning
This letter is in response to your recent inquiry about OFTC 286 and 288 Internship I and II. There are two courses requires the student in the Office Technology Program that require you to do an internship in your field. The classes are OFTC 286 Internship I and OFTC 288 Internship II. These classes are to be taken your third and fourth semester in the program. They are both four-credit-hour classes, with one lecture hour and 15 hours of on-the-job experience each and every week.
The main task of my internship was to gain more experience and knowledge of our respective field. Overall, the experience proved to be both enjoyable and rewarding. During this internship I used the skills that I learned from my Medical Assistant class and used them in the real world scenarios at the hospital. Also while I there I was exposed to new experiences. Such as performing Urine test on Drug and alcohol patients. For this procedure I had to stand in the restroom with the patient's and watch them urinate into a cup. I had to stand in the restroom with the patients because in the past they try and cheat the system. For example
I believe that interning in the Environmental Stewardship program presents the best opportunity to help me build a foundation for what I want to do. Resolving issues like climate change adaptation and greening supply chains involves engaging multiple stakeholders. To mitigate the effects of global warming, it is imperative to consider environmental, economic, and political issues. These problems have multiple dimensions that require people that can work within and across these various subject areas. My second choice is the Small Islands internship because it likewise combines issues of governance and environmental challenges. However, this program is focused on the disproportional impacts that climate change will have on small islands like rising sea levels and
The internship was a channel to direct my passion for helping others; my supervisor assigned me numerous projects that involved communicating with community leaders. One project was a collaboration with the U.S. Probation Office to reduce recidivism, and it allowed me first hand encounter on how to create policies and procedures to promote community and individual growth. This insight has inspired me to attend law schools to influence legal policies. After the internship, I continued my involvement in the community outreach through the Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters and The Females' Center of Excellence & Leadership, Inc. by mentoring at-risk youths and providing learning opportunities to the youths.
My internship placement is at Positive Living Niagara, which is non-for profit organization located in Downtown, St Catharines. The focus of this organization is to offer a band of innovative and proactive tactics to harm reduction, prevention and a person- centered focus on support and education for those at risk and affected by HIV, HCV and STBBIs in the region. The organization is comprised of 3 major departments, which are Support and Education, Street works, and Case Management. I work in the office while generally overseeing these departments every Friday from 9:00am – 5:00pm. My supervisor is the Executive Director of the organization and his name is Glen Walker. I have been given a main task that is to redesign the organization’s annual report. Along with this task I was given others such as succession planning, analyzing, and revising existing polices.
When deciding on our internship project, we wanted to do something that would be useful for future interns in the DFCS office. We were very nervous the first few weeks due to not knowing what to expect or what the staff expected of us. Our internship is a large portion of our education within the Community/Public Health major, so we wanted to make the best of it. We had many questions, which contributed to our nerves and were often afraid the case managers and supervisors would not have time to answer them. We asked the questions anyway, which facilitated learning along the way. With that in mind we came up with The Intern’s Guidebook to help ease the nerves of future interns and guide them through the internship experience. This in turn would
10 hours a day from Monday to Friday and six and a half on Saturday.
Over the past 10 weeks, I have worked at Deloitte & Touche, LLP as an Audit Intern. Overall the internship was an important learning experience and invaluable in my professional development. I was able to gain real work experience in audit and network with many people at different stages in their careers. There were many Deloitte-sponsored intern events in addition to the regular daily work I performed on my three engagements.
It has been a while since I started at the internship and I am really glad I decided to work here. I think the experience in this area is a good preview of my career and future. I am learning some important skills and finding out some things about myself and the tough skin I will need in order to stay in the area of juvenile support.
