Interview a Teacher
This past week, I was honored to interview my teacher, Professor Lysaught. He is a outstanding math instructor at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, Illinois. It was a wonderful motivational experience to hear his career change journey. Without a doubt, he instantly became one of my mentors.
Initially, Professor Lysaught started his career as a trucking company owner. Although, his job was great and saved enough for retirement, he pursued a further career by continuing college education. He wanted to try something new and exciting in a different industry.
Unlike many freshmen college students at 18 years old, Professor Lysaught began his college education in his late 30’s. At 38 years old, he earned his bachelor’s in Math from Circle Campus, now known as, University of Illinois at Chicago. After earning his degree, he wanted to become a teacher therefore, he went back to college. In 1994, he attended Chicago State University, and was certified as a teacher instructor.

After a few years, he left that high school and began teaching at Richard’s High School. A few months later, he realized teaching high school was not right fit for him. Although, things did not go smooth the first few years, that did not stop him from continuing his search for the right job in teaching.
It was on a random day throughout the week, Lysaught was browsing the morning newspaper and found something wonderful. On the back of the newspaper, in the ad section, there was a job advertisement for Moraine Valley Community College as a math instructor. Without hesitation, he immediately called the school, was interviewed and got the
SSCM Gilmore made an unannounced visit to Martinez Elementary School to conduct an interview with Madison Williams. The interview included school counselor Tamara Mathis, Madison Williams, and SSCM Gilmore. Madison is a 4th grader at the elementary school, with no known behavioral issues in class. She is known to be on time for school every day. Ms. Mathis reported that last year she was in her office a lot discussing the illness of her mother. Madison reported that she is aware what inappropriate touching is, and who she can talk to if someone touches her in bad areas. Madison reported that no one has touched her in a bad area. She reported that she would tell her mother or the Ms. Mathis of who touched her in the bad areas. She reported
My person that I interviewed is very unique besides being a very good teacher. She had received the honor of being selected ‘Teacher of the Year” a few years back here at Perkins County Schools (Grant, NE), so I knew her methods and strategies were tried and true. She has several different hats in our school system with English Language Learner (ELL) being just one part. She was asked to work with/for me in this program with our high school ELL students while I concentrated on Elementary and Middle School. She is in charge of the district’s Speech department which has also had great success. Finally, she is the school’s Spanish teacher, and a very good one. I have
What does it mean to be a school teacher? Before mindlessly declaring my major in teaching, I have decided to ask a teacher them self about their experience. My mentor, Gina Biles, has taught sixth grade students at Clear Lake Intermediate School for more than fifteen years. The opportunity to mentor a college student sounded exciting to Ms. Biles, who has always loved motivating, inspiring, and educating the youth. Throughout the interview, her goal has been to portray the life of an educator and to stress the impact education has had on her life.
Mrs. Lawrence: When planning a lesson, I start with the objective. What is it I am supposed to be cover. Once I know, I start with a hook. I access their prior knowledge then I move on with either an example or model. All along I ask questions to make sure the students
This is a very important component in education to be aware of and when you are a teacher. I interviewed a first-grade teacher at my local elementary school to gain more information about the processes that our local schools go through for professional training, interventions, and in the classroom to ensure that students are developing their abilities in reading. My main focus was on what our school’s process was, how support is given, professional training offered, and what more is needed to be done to increase success for students.
For my practicum, I went to Crossing Points on the University of Alabama campus in Garland Hall, room 308. I observed and helped with individualized tutoring on Mondays and Wednesdays at 8:00am to 9:00am, and Thursdays at 12:30pm to 1:30pm from October 2nd through November 20th. My supervising teacher was Amy Williamson.
I interviewed a childcare teacher engaged in the Early Childhood Development. She graduated from East Tennessee State University. She has been intrigued by children her entire life, she has volunteered with children with disabilities and worked with children since age 16. You can say that teaching has been a dream job of hers. Going through the interview I went through a series of questions as follows. What are positive and negative parts about being a teacher? What disciplinary styles work the best? And how can teaching in America be improved?
For this assignment we had to interview a teacher. The teacher I chose was Mrs. Gilbert. She is a special education counselor and algebra teacher. She has been a huge influence on my life. I can not wait to share the things I have learned from her in this interview.
Both my mother and my step-father are from a small town in Tetzhu located in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico. They met in Dallas through family members from my mother’s side of the family, and had an instant connection. Although my mother already had my brother and I, he still took us in like his own children apart from the fact that he was only 19 years old at that time, and my mother was already about to be 30! Despite their age differences, there are very happy married to this day, and we now are a family of five. My youngest sister is now 8 years old, my brother is 17, and I am 21. We are all a very close family and I truly value what both of my parents have done for my siblings and I. I’m very grateful for having both of
As my tenure progressed at Wilson, I was offered the position of grades 6-12 Mathematics Department Chair. The new position also coincided with
Though there were many interviews ranging from elementary to high school teachers who teach gifted children, I chose to reflect on the elementary teacher. I thought this information was the most beneficial to me since I am in an elementary school. The elementary gifted teacher gave me a lot of insight about many of my students and what to expect in their future. The gifted program in the elementary school is from first through fifth grades. Many students are not tested in kindergarten because they want to make sure the giftedness is truly there not just high achieving tendencies. Some students may test at the end of their kindergarten year, but they do not start being served in the gifted program until first grade.
Popovich’s knowledge comes from her past as well. Receiving an M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in education administration with an undergraduate degree in computer science, Jerry has been through the teaching process as well. Her personality traits and types of work show the love of education. Teaching science and math, then moving on to assistance principal and topping it off by becoming principle speaks for itself. The creativity Popovich
I am reaching out to you because of a new professor who contacted us about teaching a dual-credit Precalculus section through North Central Texas College. I hope your day is starting out well.
The teacher I interviewed has taught for more than ten years at the same school. She started as a fourth grade teacher but she now works as an interventionist.
Jennifer has devoted her entire career to Mid-West U. She was initially hired as an Introductory History instructor. While teaching history, she earned her PH.D and was appointed Assistant Professor and as time progressed she was promoted to Associate Professor due to her popularity and excellent teaching ability. Over time, she would become actively involved in various activities on
