We all know technology is a good thing, right? Or is it? We can all come up with reasons why technology is helpful or appropriate like we can for a particular medicine. And while some drugs are really great to cure or prevent a disease, sometimes the side effects outweigh any possible benefit. The same is true with technology. Some common negative side effects of technology are kids playing on their phones instead of going outside to play or young people not interacting face-to-face as much as they used to. Parenting is an area that has suffered since the rise in technology, specifically with phone use.

Innovation is the act of introducing something new; this could be an idea, a method, or a device. Innovation happens every day and if you pay attention you will see it all around you. With some new technology we as a people have to ask if it’s ethical, socially acceptable, or sustainable because sometimes the boundaries tend to get pressed. These questions can apply to every invention or discovery known to mankind. Not all of the latest and greatest become big news buzzing your ears with social media wars, picketing, or even rioting but they all have a life span as technology advances and humans continue to push the limits. The advancements are designed to help people not only do the simplest of tasks but at times extend to perform the greatest of tasks. There is one major driver of change that is transforming the future of work and that is the upsurge of smart machines. The rise of smart machines will lead to significant changes to how work is organized and how we complete work tasks.

Is technology influencing the way we think, act, and communicate? Yes, of course it is. Is that a good thing? That is a more complicated question. Our lives are changing as new technology arrives, whether you want to believe it or not. In many ways, that is a positive thing; in other ways, it can be perceived as negative.

We use technology every day, but have you ever stopped to think about just how much technology or internet is being used? Have you ever stopped to think about when we first picked up a tablet or first started watching television? Technology has positive aspects such as having the ability to communicate with people in a different country. However by being introduced to technology at a young age is very harmful to children. Too much access to technology causes many problems in young children as well as in teenagers. Too much technology and internet affect a child’s mental health, how the child interacts with others, and can lead to physical health problems.

Nowadays, Technology has broad speculations in our lives. Technology has advantages and disadvantages. There are much diverse age groups that use technology daily. It has come to a fact that we rely on technology to get a breather from our hectic daily life. The very definite functional part of technology has been seen visible in the lowest part of the age group. Young children and teenagers in first world countries have been growing more attached to technology the more advanced it gets. The controversy that includes the pros and con effect of technology on children’s life has been in speculation till this day and maybe continues into the future.

The new and recent technological advances are taking a huge growth to new and bigger heights in the world .From computers to laptops to supercomputers, technology is not resting for a single day. Now the impact of technology has been in the educational environments such as schools, classrooms and so much more. It has given students, teachers, and staff access to new and higher resources than ever, but the question is whether this huge growth has made a positive impact? Technology doesn’t get in the way of learning in fact it has increased the amount that kids want to learn. Technology does not get in the way of learning it helps with kids being able to look up lessons, and video tutorials if they don’t get the lesson when it was taught in class. It gives kids easier ways to relearn topics instead of having to read a book or even sit through the whole lessons again. Having technology is also better because you don’t have to waste time going to a public library for research projects.

By increasing the use of technology, it is limiting us from face to face interaction. Being on your iPhones 24/7 is creating a huge problem for the upcoming generation. Most people can sit behind a computer for hours typing how they’re feeling, whether on social media, email or text messaging, but they lack eye contact because they are so used to staring at a screen and hitting the send button that when they’re standing right in front of another human being they lack the basic skills for human interaction.

The brain is often affected by the amount of information that it is being forced to take mentally. In Restak chapter “Attention Deficit: The Brain Syndrome of Our Era” from the book The New Brain: How the Modern Age is Rewiring Your Mind, he goes into depth about how technology is affecting the brain’s functions. Parents and their children are already at risk with the impact that is being forced upon them every day both at home and at school environments. To balance the risks of technology, schools should require fewer tasks, parents should follow the same guidelines that they are preaching, and parents also must put restrictions on when their kid(s) should be able to use their device(s).
