Temperature Rising Global Warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air, landmasses, and oceans its projected prolongation. Many believe that the Earth is currently facing warming in the ozone layer brought on by the rising levels of trapped gases known as the greenhouse effect resulting especially from pollution. Global warming is, in Laymen’s terms, altering the balance in energy of the earth (Reid 27). “The topic of climatic change has been in question since the late 1980’s” (Reid 170). “Contrary to what some believe, global warming is affected by human life and the tolls that technology and the resulting greenhouse gases have on the environment. The human influence is disrupting the natural …show more content…

“The freons that are found in aerosol cans and the decomposing fertilizers release nitrous oxide into the atmosphere” (Breuer 105). “Chlorofluorocarbons, hydrochloroflurocarbons, and hydroflurocarbons have high potential to destroy the ozone” (Reid 96). “These chemicals are of man-made origin and can be found in products such as refrigerators, foam insulation, and aerosol cans contain these chemicals” (Berner and Berner 34, 42).
In addition to the preceding chemicals and gases, carbon dioxide also plays a role in global warming. “Carbon dioxide is the gas that affects the trapping of solar radiation and the greenhouse effect the most” (Breuer 104). “One way that carbon dioxide is emitted into the atmosphere is by biomass burning or the burning of rainforests” (Reid 171). “By burning rainforests, also referenced as deforestation, organic carbons from nature are being burned and released into the atmosphere” (Berner and Berner 29). According to Encarta, Scientists project global warming to continue at a rate that is unprecedented in hundreds of thousands or even millions of years of Earth’s history. “They predict considerably more warming in the 21st century, depending on the level of future greenhouse gas emissions. Scientists project further warming of 2.4 to 6.4 Celsius degrees (4.3 to 11.5 Fahrenheit degrees) by the year 2100” (Encarta 1). Scientist also predict that more people die from heat stress or will get sick, due not only to hotter days but more
