Thankful Essay “When asked if I look at my glass half full or half empty, I simply respond with I am great full to have a glass.”-Anonymous. In life, we are given many opportunities, as well as many challenges, but not all of us are taught to be great full for these events. When we progress in life, we may not see these challenges as worthwhile, but these little things in life are what we should appreciate the most. As said by the quote in my first sentence, “ I am thankful to have a glass.” That is a perfect example of an object so overlooked in life, yet so needed. Everything I am thankful for, can sometimes be overlooked. I am grateful to have a home, a supportive family, and pets. Being grateful for a home sounds pretty basic and

On September 6, 1620, 102 men, women and children from England boarded a small cargo boat called the Mayflower and set sail for the New World. The passengers left their homes in England in search of religious freedom from the King of England. Today they are known as "pilgrims."
First of all, I would like to thank you and the Honor Society for this humbling opportunity for me to join the National Honor Society. The truth behind the tradition is surprising. Thanksgiving and the Pilgrims seem to go together, but the truth is, the Pilgrims never held an autumnal Thanksgiving feast. However the Pilgrims did have a feast in 1621, after their first harvest, and it is this feast, which people often refer to as "The First Thanksgiving". This feast was never repeated, though, so it can't be called the beginning of a tradition, nor was it termed by the colonists or "Pilgrims" a Thanksgiving Feast. In fact, a day of thanksgiving was a day of prayer and fasting, and would have been held any time that they felt an extra day of thanks was called for. Nevertheless, the 1621 feast has become a model that we think of for our own
Perfection is a tricky beast. A bubbling, illuminating, effervescent creature, always flitting in front of my eyes and heart, simply begging to be chased, excellence has always held a special, unquenchable place in my heart. Perfect grades. Perfect looks. Perfect performance. Perfect persona. Perfection. With a capital P. Perfection, with all of its glimmer and promise, is my raw, ragged, ravenous Achilles heel.
Instead of making use of this life-changing concept, most sit and bemoan about the grievances life has thrown their way, yet do nothing to ameliorate them. It is unsettling to think that I can lose everything at the drop of a hat, but I find this so fascinating because with each opportunity of loss there is a possibility for something better. With every death and accident there is a reminder that life is short and unpredictable, but we can't let that stop us from being that kind stranger or having childlike wonder, instead we have to let it be our reason to strive for change because just when things seem stagnant, there is a new door ready to open if we would only turn the

Overtime other cultures began to settle on these islands also, such as the Spanish, Japanese, and Americans. Out of these three cultures the Americans were the most domineering and devastating to the Marshallese people. The Americans took over the Marshallese native land and forced all of them to live on one island in deplorable conditions. The Marshallese had their freedom revoked from them; they then had to live under the Americans rules. Two of the Marshallese characters in this story who believes strongly in withholding many of the native
I believe there are many traits in life that make you a good person and lead you to live a happy life, but being grateful is one of the best traits you could obtain. Being grateful is one thing I feel many people in our society forget to do. One day I learned to always appreciate what I have instead of what I don’t.
