Professional Portfolio The Early Education field is not something to overlook because it is something that helps children all across America everyday, and without it most children wouldn’t be in school. There are many different career opportunities you can peruse in this field, but what does it actually take to become a professional, and make a difference in the way children learn. In order to become a professional in this field you need to poses certain qualities, and methods in order to teach children the ways of a life they have the opportunity to live. I have chosen this field because yes it is a challenge, but I have learned from the teachers, and adults around me that in order to make something of myself I will need to take some risks to make a difference in the lives of others. When hiring a professional there are certain qualities you need to obtain in order to be able to reach the needs of every student. I believe that the most important quality a teacher quite as myself can posses is establishing a interest in each student they have. I would also establish a warm, caring, and loving environment where my students know they can talk to me about things, and come to me for help with work, or any issues they have. When teaching children especially you need to be able to keep lessons enthusiastic, and keep the kids entertained in order to keep their attention. Lastly a professional needs to make sure they can plan, and stay organized while they are teaching or doing
Early childhood is a field I see myself staying in for a long time. I am currently working at a child care center, and enjoy learning about the different ways to run a center and the new information available to us. I have worked at two child care centers, and while the curriculum and rules are different, the goal of having the best quality of service for the parent is the same. Providing for parents and wanting the best for every student by having staff who wants to work and wants to do everything they can to supply the best for children is how to deliver quality care. After finishing school, I would like to open up my own child care center. By creating a safe, fun, and loving environment for children, they are able to learn, grow, and develop, in the best possible way.
I believe that as an early childhood educator my goal will be to promote the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of each child. I also believe that play should be the base of learning since children learn best by doing. I believe that a balance between teacher-directed and child-initiated activities is essential balance can be developed by using the developmentally appropriate practice approach, which means that activities should be “appropriate for each child and relevant to the child’s ability, needs and interests, also including the child’s family and being respectful to the child’s culture.
Saumya Patel is 5 years old. He attends Kindergarten at Sumter County Primary School in the Sumter County School System. Saumya is very intelligent, and is very far ahead of many of the students on his level. He is very independent, and he is very capable of doing many things on his own. Saumya sometimes questions why he sits in a kindergarten classroom with his intelligence. He does not understand why some of his classmates act their age.
What young children learn at an early age can affect future learning in elementary school. With that being said early childhood educators have an impact on children 's learning during the first year of schooling. For instance, in a daycare-type setting toddlers learn to work together, they learn to share, and they learn to cooperate. Concepts such as these, though not limited to, are concepts that are not just used when they are first learned. As children grow up learning to work together, share, and cooperate would help in being successful in school and outside of school.
I am a student at Florida Atlantic University studying early childhood education. I am enrolled in EEC 3214 class this semester; the class is called designing and implementing a blending curriculum: birth to age eight. I am required to complete a field experience assignment at a preschool. I will observe young children ranging from three to five years old. I assure you that I will keep all information confidential. In addition, I reassure you that I will not share the information collected outside of my course and that no identifying information will be shared. I will respect and follow all the school’s policies and procedures in a professional manner.
When I went to NAEYC conference, Nov 18-Nov 21, Orlando, Florida, I attended 4 session. One of them was “America’s Best and Brightest: New Market Research on Attracting and Retaining Early Childhood Professionals.” Because I lack English listening skills, I couldn’t understand whole contents. However, I came to know about ‘understanding the attitudes and beliefs of current educators about the profession’ and ‘identifying factors that will be most helpful in encouraging educators to make the field a long-term profession.’ I thought that these contents would be useful and helpful for our classmates, as well as me, in understanding “current preschool teacher in the United States.”
As an early childhood educator, my mission is to encourage, inspire, support and motivate students while providing a fun, safe, and affectionate environment which builds friendships and lays the foundation for students to become life-long learners.
As an early educator my professional goals and aspirations have change since I read the interview conducted by the author, Denise Scott. As I read this article, I been inspired to reach out to my community, families, students, and peers in order to become a better leader. To make a difference I desire to be a leader in my community. In my community, it is important to connect to students that are entering the childhood field, however to create an atmosphere that encourages mentoring and learning (Rodriguez, 2005). As early educator leaders, we have to promote students by being a positive role model, therefore this would allow them to see the character within us. To work with children, leaders should exhibit good qualities, passion, leadership abilities as well as understanding for others. We have to create an environment that leaders can thrive (Scott, p.1 2005). As educator, we should lead as well as follow to be an effective leader in the early childhood field, however this mean continuing growing. The prospective students need to be aware that this field has no ending. The field of childhood studies is always changing and we have to stay embrace for the future There are challenges and should know where your strengths are as well as your differences (Scott, 2005)
Teachers, receiving training from universities to enhance this new trend for early childhood education was good for the movement. However, as a potential college student and someone
Throughout my course work I have learned how essential Early Childhood Education is to the proper growth and development of young children. Without quality care young children can be limited socially, emotionally, and cognitively. Personally, my reasons for choosing ECE as my field of study has matured into responding to the need to provide quality professionals that produce quality care to every child regardless of ethnicity, ability, culture, or gender. However, looking back on my prior experiences I have worked with children in all capacities within my community. I have coached soccer of various ages, taught Sunday School, ran preteen Bible studies, and taught character building classes for young girls. Even though these experiences motivated me to enter this field, I now see child development from a totally different perspective.
I have chosen to go into this field because I want to be one of those early childhood teacher that get children ready for important part of life. Having little cousins to watch growing up as well my own children and see them grow in their early education has shown me that I want to be part of that. I love the thought of being the first person to get the children started with their education by helping them along the way with fun filled classroom activities and games.
As a parent are you choosing the right path for your kids to grow up on? Are you kid’s futures based off where you chose for your kids to their education? There is a lot to consider when it comes to deciding where you send your kids to college. The most common are public, private, or even a mixture of both. This topic has often been debated due to that fact of the children’s futures could be at stake or does early education even matter where you start. There are many aspects to look at, but in your childhood, education will impact how well one does in the future.
To accomplish anything there needs to be a plan to get there. This applies to my academic goals and to my career path. No matter what I want I wanted to achieve in life, I needed to have a plan to get there. With my academic goals I needed to focus on what I inspired to be. Throughout my education I had outstanding teachers. Some made a dramatic difference in how I viewed the world and what I wanted to do in life. Before I knew it I saw my dream job play out right before my eyes. I knew that I wanted to make something of myself and hopefully inspire someone to make a change. Now that I work in the field with kids it made my desire to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education.
Ten years from now, I see myself doing what I love to do—teaching. What brings me joy is the moment my students’ faces light up, when they finally grasp the concept that I was trying to teach them. Moments like these are why I am pursuing my bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, so I can better other people’s lives and help my community.
In order for our youth to have the best education possible, there needs to be people that are willing to work with them and push them at a young age. They will need to be able to help them when asked and be patient when they're struggling. They will have to be able to talk to the parents and treat everybody equally. An early childhood educator will need to do all of theses things at once in order to offer the best education possible.
