Are we being watched? Was the moon landing staged? Is there a secret society of people training a select group of individuals for a restructure in government? Conspiracy theories have reigned supreme in our society for years. From Jesus having a family, to the assassination of President Kennedy, conspiracy theories have been handed down through the generations. There are books, movies and literature that all take on opposing views. According to Webster, a Conspiracy is “an agreement between two or more persons, to commit some crime in concert; particularly a combination to commit treason, or excite sedition or insurrection against the government of a state; a plot” (“Conspiracy.” An American Dictionary of the English Language; exhibiting …show more content…
Conspiracy Theorist speculate that September 11th was a planned and executed event caused to spark the “War on Terror”. Bombs attached to the plane that crashed into WTC and detonators inside caused the demise of the twin towers. A missile crashed into the Pentagon, not a Boeing 757. Flight 93 was staged. There are eye witness accounts for what they saw and heard on that day. “We were the first ones in the second tower after the plane struck. I was taking firefighters up in the elevator to the 24th floor to get in position to evacuate workers. On the last trip up a bomb went off” says 51 year old firefighter Louie Cacchioli (People Magazine 09/24/2001). Lon Rains, editor for “Space News” states “I heard a very loud, quick whooshing sound...I was convinced it was a missle. It came in so fast – it sounded nothing like an airplane”. (911inplanesight.com) There ar some that believe that Flight 93 was brought down by a missle. The phone call made by a passenger in a locked bathroom said, “We are being high jacked! We are being high jacked!...was going down. He heard some sort of explosion and saw white smoke coming from the plane” (www.whatreallyhappened.com).
Yet another controversial subject is the moon landing. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin are names sketched into our memory as the first men on the moon. For every website, book or magazine detailing that mission on July 20th 1969 there is a website, book and magazine dedicated to proving that it was
On September 11, 2001, 19 people hijacked four airliners and carried out suicide attacks against their targets.. Two of the planes crashed into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, the third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Over 3,000 people were killed during the attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., including more than 400 police officers and firefighters. (“9/11 attacks”2010). The conspiracy theories started just days after the September 11, 2001 attack. The conspiracies were easy to spread fast when using the internet and they became more and more elaborate as time went on. The most popular 9/11 conspiracy theory is that 9/11 was orchestrated by the American government.
Roughly 2,753 people were killed on September 11, 2001, by terrorists who overtook commercial airplanes (Jones). The cause of these thousands of deaths were a series of attacks in New York City by an Islamic terrorist group, Al-Qaeda. However, there are still many questions about what actually happened the morning of September 11, 2001. As there are many different conspiracy theories about what happened that day, 9/11 was an attack which began with Al- Qaeda hi-jacking airplanes, but ended with more questions than answers. Many questions still remain about the authenticity of cell phone calls from inside the planes, why air defense was told to “stand down,” and how three buildings imploded as the result of two buildings being struck by airplanes.
Brian Keeley’s short essay, “Of Conspiracy Theories” discusses conspiracy theories and their value in an epistemological context. Keeley defines a conspiracy theory as “a proposed explanation of some historical event (or events) in terms of the significant causal agency of a relatively small group of persons-the conspirators-acting in secret (Keeley 1999, pg. 116).” Keeley seeks to answer the question of why conspiracy theories are unwarranted. His interest in the warrant of conspiracy theories focuses on ¬the unfalsifiability of conspiracy theories and how conspiracy theories are founded upon an extraordinarily large amount of skepticism. In section III, Keely discusses what a conspiracy theory is, and contends that there is no grounds for
One of the most controversial events ever to occur is still being talked about to this day. September 11th, 2001 will forever go down in history as one of the most tragic disasters to hit the United States of America. It was heartbreak for all of us to see those towers fall and thousands upon thousands of American lives destroyed. One might ask themselves; didn’t everything get explained a little too quickly? Why did everyone so quickly forget the details to this tragedy? The events of September 11th, 2001 are surely going to be remembered for its brutal truth and will always remind us of the hate that we as humans can create. The events of September 11th happened so fast that lots of details were overlooked but now, six years later one
Those who believe the WTC was destroyed by controlled demolitions argue the debris that blew out of windows was the result of an explosive. But experts disagree by saying the debris was simply the contents of the offices inside being blown out with air as the floors collapsed on top of each other. Also, demolition professionals say explosives are placed on lower levels, whereas, the planes hit the buildings at very high floors. No signs of a bomb were found in the wreckage of the buildings (Debunking the 9/11 myths, n.d.). Those who believe the planes that hit the WTC were remote controlled say there is no way al Qaeda could have even come up with the plan to hijack and crash the planes, much less have acted it out within an hour. The manufacturer stated the planes that hit the buildings had only one system of control: from the flight deck. Many telephone calls were made from passengers on the planes saying they were being hijacked.
The Illuminati is a secret society that was established in the late 18th century. Not long after it was created, it was supposedly abolished completely. However, many people believe that the Illuminati still exists today. While the Illuminati is an exceedingly broad topic with many conspiracies involved, the supposed actions of the modern-day Illuminati and the New World Order conspiracy theory are the main topics.
Throughout history, people have attempted to come up with explanations to make sense of events which could not be comprehend, such explanations are commonly known as conspiracy theories. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the official definition of conspiracy theory is “a theory that explains an event or set of circumstances as the result of a secret plot by usually powerful conspirators.” These theories can range from minor events, to large scale terrorist attacks. A few well known theories include, Bill Clinton caused 9/11, the Earth is flat, and a reptilian race is planning to take over the Earth. Conspiracy theories can inflict various amount of damage, but it dependent on the conspiracy theory context. (Mckay). In an
A conspiracy theory, in it’s purest form, describes a hypothesis concerning an incident in which more than one person is involved. Since 1963 more Americans have believed in a conspiracy against Kennedy than have believed in a single assassin working alone (Majority in U.S. Still Believe JFK Killed in a Conspiracy). After years of investigation, evidence continues to prove the majority of Americans wrong. There was only
On September 11, 2001, the United States experienced an attack that changed our country forever. It was reported by the New York magazine that 19 hijackers were responsible for the 2,996 deaths that day, leaving our country in shock. The official report stated that there was a total of 4 planes involved; Flight 11 crashed into the North tower, Flight 175 crashed into the South tower, Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon and Flight 93 was overthrown by passengers and later crashed into the ground in Pennsylvania. There is no doubt that this was one of the worst tragedies our country has ever experienced but many still question the truth behind it. From the discrepancies in the stories of the event, to the fault in the towers mechanics, it
What if everything one was supposed to believe was wrong? What if the people who are supposed to protect citizens from danger, do not? What if 9/11, the most tragic day in American history, was caused by the people we are supposed to respect and we are supposed and to believe, our government? Could our government have masterminded this horrific crime? Actually, I believe they did. In August 1997, on the front cover of FEMA’s, The Federal Emergency Management Agency, Emergency Response to Terrorism Manual it shows the World Trade Center towers in the cross hairs, sights used for aiming a gun or missile for accuracy, and then again in June 2000, the Department of Justice released a world
On September 11, 2001 four passenger commercial jet airliners were hijacked and as a result approximately 3,000 human lives were lost. When asked about 9/11, many can recall exactly what they were doing when they heard the news that a plane crashed into one of the World Trade Center (WTC) buildings and many Americans can tell you how it all unfolded and the reason behind such a travesty. The “official story” provided by officials, and restated by Sofia Shafquat, producer of “9/11 Mysteries: Demolitions” say that “four passenger planes were hijacked and taken radically off course, within an hour, two of the planes had flown into the enormous steel towers of the World Trade Center, creating fires and eventually toppling them” (Shafquat).
If you’re like most folks, who have been socially conditioned in The United States, you will think of the word, “Theory”. This brings two words together creating the phrase, “Conspiracy Theory”. The term was first used the night of November 10th, 2001 by President George W. Bush. "We must speak the truth about terror. Let us never tolerate outrageous conspiracy theories concerning the attacks of September the 11th; malicious lies that attempt to shift the blame away from the terrorists, themselves, away from the guilty. To inflame ethnic hatred is to advance the cause of terror." –President George W. Bush. With this said, George W. Bush literally crushed the credibility of any “Conspiracy Theory” that may ever present itself in any public setting, or conversation regarding the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks. In Phrase, “conspiracy theory” there are two words, the first being “conspiracy”. The active word, “Theory” next. By definition, a theory is only an Idea, a Concept, or a Hypothesis. For example, in theory, if one were to buy a Lottery Ticket, that person could win a lump sum of money. Now, without buying a lottery ticket, the chance of winning is only “Theoretical”. However, once the ticket is bought… the chance of that person winning is now a possibility. With the purchase of a lottery ticket, a winning chance changes from a theory to a possibility. With that, one can determine that if more tickets are bought, the chance of winning progressively becomes more likely of a possibility. Now we can use this same model, on the idea of “Conspiracy Theories”, as long as there is no evidence presented, such claims remain as “Conspiracy Theories”, forever. However, once the smallest piece of evidence is presented, no matter how insignificant or circumstantial that piece of evidence may seem, the once called “Conspiracy Theory” becomes a possibility. Once more and
The official story of 9/11 is a conspiracy theory in that the government claims 19 hijackers conspired together to hijack four planes and create terror in the world. Four American airplanes were hijacked; two were driven into the World Trade Centers and the third airplane into the Pentagon. The fourth airplane suspected target was the White House, but it was diverted by the brave men and women aboard that hijacked airplane, and crashed the airline jet before it could reach its target. It was like time stood still as America watched through television broadcast these unbelievable and horrifying events taking place. The reports told of the smell the jet fuel, burning flesh, and people jumping out windows to their death to escape the flames.
The September 11 attacks were tragic events that had spread shockwaves of horror and grief across the United States. The tragedy became the subject of controversy as some skeptics began to doubt the details reported to have transpired that day. Some people question its legitimacy, theorizing that the Bush administration devised and orchestrated the attacks to further its agenda. Filmmaker Dylan Avery discusses and promotes this prevalent conspiracy theory in his documentary, Loose Change 9/11: An American Coup. Avery argues that the government possessed foreknowledge of the attacks by comparing them to precedents of similar situations. He challenges the official explanations and provides his analyzations of evidence from the reports and media. Avery effectively appeals to pathos, ethos, and logos in his film, but his compelling argument is ultimately undermined by fallacies.
To most a fairy tale, to some an interesting topic of discussion, however, to a small population, 5 % to be exact, Government conspiracy does exist. How, you might ask, do I intend to prove that indeed government conspiracy is real? I do not intend to prove it. In fact I only intend to inform you of its ever growing ploy of world domination, capitalism and control and open your mind to the idea that government conspiracy is out there. Throughout history as it is known to repeat itself, I will show facts that support this “theory” and dismiss the legendary lies we have been taught to believe through a system known as memetics.
