The development process in Human Development begins in before conception with heredity. The next important stage in development is prenatal development. The is the stage of growth after conception and before birth. In this stage, there are many risk factors to consider that can affect the development of an embryo either during the pregnancy or after the pregnancy. A very well known risk factor during this time is smoking, drink and the use of drugs. Teratogen is the different agents such as, drug, alcohol, and tobacco that can cause different development problems at birth. I conducted a research experiment to see how women felt about these activities they partake in, and if they know the danger it producing toward the normal development of a fetus. In the following paragraphs, I will discuss how I conducted this experiment, and what my finding produced about the matter. Process:
The first and hardest part of this experiment was finding women friend of mine that did not have children already and used drugs, alcohol, or tobacco. I don’t have many women friends that don’t have kids or are into drugs/alcohol/tobacco. After going down my phone list I could not easily find 4 female friends who meet the qualification to participate in this research assignment. For the privacy of my friends, I will name each participant after the first four letter of the alphabet (A, B, C, &D). When formulating the questions to gain the information needed upon this topic, I came up with 8 different
Whilst the mother is pregnant if the baby is exposed to toxic chemicals, foods of a certain kind, or also stress from the mother then this can permanently change the cognitive development. Infancy is one of the main times when the child begins to develop their intellectuality so this means that if any of the above have been exposed to much to the baby, when they are going through infancy they may struggle with their cognitive development. Those mothers that smoke, eat unhealthy foods or go through stress or trauma whilst they are pregnant usually notice a risk of delayed cognitive development when the child is an infant. On the other hand if the mother doesn’t smoke, eats healthy and remains stress and trauma free whilst going through the pregnancy, the infants cognitive development is usually normal.
Many components are hazardous in the prenatal development stage including intelligence and other congenital disabilities. Drugs whether prescription or illegal, alcohol and smoking are hazardous to prenatal development and may cause long term struggles with intelligence and cause defects.
A baby’s genes are determined at conception. If something is faulty at this stage, this can have a huge impact on the child’s development. This may be physical or intellectual. If a mother takes drugs or smokes when pregnant, there is an increased chance of delivering an underweight baby at birth. It can also lead to cognitive problems for the child as they get older.
Produce a report to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of different theorist of development. This report should identify how these theorists have influenced current practice.
Counselling and psychotherapeutic theory is a way of understanding human development and experiences in relation to the environment. Each theory is based on a set of principles and concepts that have been derived from observable behaviour. However, each theory has identified limitations and no single theory is appropriate for all clients or all presenting issues.
All babies and children show different rates of development, but some do so because of difficulties linked to experiences during conception, pregnancy and birth. We know that even before a baby is conceived, the lifestyle of the parents can have an effect on thier potential development. this is because men's sperm and woman's ova can be easily damaged. Parents are advised to think about stopping smoking, about taking folic acid supplements, cuttting down on alcohol and avoiding recreational drugs. They are also advised not to leave starting a family too late because not only does it become harder for a woman to conceive as they get older, but also the quality of a woman's eggs can deteriorate over time.
Human development will continue to accumulate from the time we are conceived until the day we die. During our lifespan we each change neurologically, structurally, and physiologically, and we each develop at our own pace. Our recent lab, Spring Olympics, tracked physical competency between myself and Jake Chastain. The results are evidentiary of our developmental differences. Herein, we will consider the shuttle run, heavy throw, rope jump, birdie bash, and balance events with respect to how mine and my partners distinct development differences contributed to our competition results.
Research on human development has been much devoted towards determining when one should expect children to be capable of certain skills. Every day, our communities develop as generations of individuals make choices and invent solutions to changing circumstances. Our ongoing daily activities, ranging from learning when to brush our teeth, to learning the numbers on a telephone. Barbara Rogoff’s The Cultural Nature of Human Development discusses cultural patterns as they relate to human development. Human development is a cultural process by which devices such as language and literacy are employed by means of learning from one another. To date, the study of human development has been largely based around research and theoretical knowledge coming from middle-class communities in Europe, as well as North America. Questions such as “When does children’s intellectual development permit them to be responsible for others?” and “When can they be trusted to take care of an infant?” are vital in recognizing cultural approaches among different cultural communities. Rogoff’s work discusses the importance of increasing the understanding of the cultural basis of our own lives as those of our neighbors and those individuals we do not know personally.
Cigarette consumption has many logical reasons to why women smoke also. Some of these reasons may relate to the influential reasons women consume alcohol while pregnant. Watt’s conducted a study on Indian/ Alaskan native women who smoked cigarettes and consumed alcohol while pregnant. Watts stated that “Indian/ Alaskan Natives have the highest rate of alcohol and cigarette use during pregnancy” (Watt, 2012, pg. 262). Based on these results it is assumed that the women who abused cigarettes and alcohol while pregnant has some similarities to why they consumed these liquids and drugs. Watt’s procedure was to measure the amounts of cigarettes and alcohol woman consumed in their body while pregnant. According to Watts results “30% of Alaskan/Native American women reported smoking during their pregnancy over the last 30 days” (Watt, 2012, pg.
Human development is a process that occurs throughout the lifespan, and lifespan development theories offer frameworks for which to understand human growth. Different approaches focus on specific aspects of human life to determine which has the most significant influence on development. However, one theory usually does not account for all variables of human growth so more than one perspective may be used to analyze development. Two such perspectives, the behavioral and the contextual, explain development in different ways. The behavioral perspective focuses on observable behavior, while the contextual perspective focuses on interrelated systems that influence development. When applied to the case study in the index, the differences in the behavioral and contextual theories become evident.
This part navigates into both scale levels of the model: A general landscape is provided by the dimension network analysis, and the bridge detail is delivered by the local scale analysis among subnetworks.
The interaction of the environment and genetic factors work to shape who children are and who they will become. The genetics a child inherits from their parents may set out the roadmap but the impact of their environment can determine how their development is expressed, shaped or even silenced. This complex interaction of nature and nurture is not a single event but is persistent through child development and through life. Genetic factors that have a major impact on child development can be caused by differing chromosomes in the child that can lead to learning disabilities; Klinefelter syndrome, Fragile X syndrome , Turner syndrome and Down syndrome. Children with Down syndrome experience some type of intellectual impairment, but the severity can vary dramatically and have varying degrees of impact on development.
There are three foundations of human development. The foundations are the biological development, psychological development, and social development. The concept of human diversity and cultural competences demonstrates how different people can be. General systems theory and social order are connected in some way.
The birth and growth of mankind are magical. During these eight weeks study, I found the huge interest in lifespan human development. This course taught me the “roots” of human beings. Until now, I realized how human was born, and I also learn a lot about human development and possible diseases in each period. Besides, I learned the research process. They are really wonderful knowledge and helpful to me!
Human development can be studied by researching both physical and mental development. It can be studied by focusing on the external human body, along with the processes and intricate systems that have been developed by our body. It can also focus on the human brain, specifically on the internal development of human behaviour and interaction. Consequently, I have built my degree plan to represent both viewpoints in development.
