The Educational Philosophy I Will Incorporate in My Classroom
Education serves as the foundation to a lifetime of learning. Since every child is unique, I believe that it is important for them to learn in an environment that is both secure and stimulating. By creating this type of atmosphere, the students will be able to realize their intelligence and use it constructively. As a future educator, it will be my goal to establish a classroom that is, 1) non-authoritarian, 2) student-centered, and 3) focused around student experience. These three elements are part of Progressivism, the educational philosophy I plan to incorporate in my classroom.

I believe this type of environment will stimulate students and make learning fun and enjoyable for them.
In my experience, I believe that knowledge is best learned from real life situations. That is why student learning should be focused around real life. When students are able to relate to information from their own experiences, it allows for the environment to evolve in which the students feel free to express themselves. I plan to use a wide array of learning styles and activities to accomplish this type of learning by including group work, dramatizations, and out of class projects in the curriculum. I think that when students are exposed to information they feel relevant to their lives through different types of learning, they are able to expand their knowledge because they already have the information from their experiences.
For me, teaching provides the opportunity to share my passion for education with my students. It has been said that teachers should not be allowed to develop relationships with their students, because it interferes with their learning. However, I believe it is the relationship between the teacher and the students that sets the groundwork for their learning. When students feel as though they have a purpose for being in the classroom, and that they have a teacher who cares for their well-being, it gives them the confidence and motivation they need to continue with their education.

It is my sincere hope that every student should look forward to coming into the classroom ready for new adventures and a whole new world of information every day. Education continually brings us new adventures just waiting for us to experience its wonder and possibilities. I believe that students, when presented with a wide variety of interesting lessons, can become interested and motivated in a way that they never have before.
Through the classes I have taken at Wilmington University and my experiences in the classroom, I have developed a personal teaching philosophy that will be implemented into my future classrooms. I chose the teaching profession because I understand the challenges and responsibilities that come with teaching young minds. Children are our future and I am confident in my ability to help students reach their potential both inside and outside of the classroom.
I believe that I should be prepared to inspire my students with an environment that is conducive to learning. My classroom will be bright and colorful with words and pictures throughout. My goal is to provide a safe environment for learning, exploring, and self-expression. Children learn better when they feel that they are safe and cared for. I strive to make my students feel comfortable in my class.
2) I believe sharing support of ELLs and ensuring an inclusive approach relies greatly on the teachers themselves, specifically the classroom and ELL teacher. Fairbaim & Jones-Vo mention two things that I believe would work these are collaboratively planning lessons and co-teaching. By planning lessons together, both teachers are on the same page, They each understand the respected needs of their students and able to work together to create ways in which lessons are excited to optimize student success. I also think having another person perceptive is beneficial as their teaching experiences may offer you some guidance. In terms of co-teaching, I think this directly benefits the students. We all have different ways of teaching and I think students
Students will be given ample opportunity to interact with the text, and each other to strengthen their learning. The lessons in my classroom will be student driven, so that each child knows they matter and that they are valued when they walk in my classroom. I will facilitate trust building activities appropriate for my students, so they can begin to see each other as support system instead of competitors. The norms and rules for my learning environment will be Do Your Best, and Have Fun. These two rules are vital because they do not expect students to neither act a certain way nor conform to societal expectations. The rules will hold students accountable for their learning. With these rules, every student plays an authentic role in co-constructing the rules since they are given the opportunity to do “their” best.
The fundamental purpose of our education system is to produce more creative, intelligent, and self-sufficient members of society. I believe that in order to achieve such goals it is essential to create a strong classroom environment in which students learn. A strong classroom consists of four major elements: health, respect, support, and challenge. There are various ways in which I would use my developmental knowledge to create a classroom environment that is healthy, respectful, supportive, and challenging for all types of students.
This classroom learning experience allows complete freedom for the students because, instead of listening to the teacher or professor lecture all day, the students get to voice their opinions about their point of view about the lesson. With this, they can speak more about it or ask questions. And the more they get to learn something new, the more they can develop a critical consciousness for what they learn.

We, as adults, have a responsibility to teach and protect children. Teaching is one of the most crucial jobs an individual can have. Not only does teaching give students material to succeed scholastically, it helps apply knowledge and skills necessary for success in life. I want to teach so I can better equip children for adult life, while allowing them to be individuals and form their own personalities. At the core of my philosophy, there are four essential themes to teaching children: Emotional Development, Curriculum, Art, and Building Relationships. Albert Einstein once said, “It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge” (BrainyQuote). Knowledge opens the door to the world while closing the
All students have a different learning style and can benefit from hands on or real life activities in the classroom.
I also believe that besides providing a safe, self-confident classroom environment that promotes critical thinking skills and problem solving, it is important to show my
An effective classroom is the key to students’ learning. In my future classroom, I want to apply these theories and keys to effective teaching in order to be a successful teacher. I feel it is important for a teacher to have that connection with their students, as well as the satisfaction received when their students understand and enjoy the material. I want my future classroom to be a comfortable environment for learning, and draw them into a world of learning. I plan on teaching the upper elementary and middle level grades. As a teacher, I will use my
I believe students learn best by having someone or something they can relate to. This allows the learning to be more meaningful to them. Learning can be a very enlightening experience and when given the proper tools the sky can be the limit. As an educator I plan to make my classroom very warm and inviting. I plan to provide my students with the skills and knowledge they need to not only be successful in my classroom, but to be successful as lifelong learners. Education means something different to everyone, but it can be a very empowering process that allows and guides students to develop their passion, critical thinking, compassion, and orientation to compete in a global marketplace. Education and learning should prepare young people for
One of my goals as a teacher is to create environments where students feel challenged and have the opportunity to self-assess their knowledge. I believe that by creating
Teaching is difficult, requiring teachers to know a lot about their students in order to provide them the education they truly deserve. It is important that educators enjoy teaching and are willing to know their students personally, but it is more important that teachers are aware of their students’ cognitive development in order create meaningful learning experiences. While my students are reaching a point of semi-adulthood, they still require a large amount of guidance in order to effectively complete classroom tasks. Much of how we learn as humans is connected to our experiences and how we feel while we are receiving information. I have been teaching 9th grade for two years and many of my students’ richest learning experiences are rooted in meaningful activities and atmosphere. Although students may come from similar backgrounds, it is important that teachers are consistently providing the space for students to meet high standards. Additionally, effective teachers must then provide students to benefit from the experiences and cultures of their peers by allowing for individual and collaborative learning experiences.
