Humans’ contribution to Climate Change are constant, not ceasing or slowing down. Most anything in the modern society has made a contribution, whether it be the technology being used or the cars being driven. Climate Change is the changing of global weather and temperatures at an abnormal rate --- that many choose to ignore, proceeding with their everyday activity. Meanwhile, on a global scale, the rate of these changes is detrimental to life on earth. NASA explicitly addresses that these fluctuations of climate are natural, but the rate in temperature changes is quicker than ever before. Prior observations show that typically the changes last about a thousand years before the next period of changes, but recently human innovations have backfired with the earth at stake. With the advancement of a more technological society, comes great responsibility. Increased carbon dioxide emissions have played a massive role in the increased rate of climate changes. Though the Industrial Revolution or “Great Transformation” during the late 1700s appears to be the start of the trend. With the Technological advances of their century, these creators did not foresee the severe environmental outcomes that would come of it all, resulting in future centuries of unrest. “Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide have increased nearly 30 percent, methane concentrations have more than doubled, and nitrous oxide concentrations have risen by
Climate change is known as one of the greatest threats to the planet. It is not only a threat to the planet environmentally, but it is a threat socially and economically. As we all could feel, see, and know, the weather patterns globally and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere have been increasing over an extended period of time. Although it may seem like it’s not a dramatic change since it is data from over a large amount of time, it is considering the fact that the large amount of time is not that large as it should be. Climate change is nothing new to us. It’s happened many years ago in the past because a variety of reasons but as the years go on, the rate on charts are just getting higher. As much as I would like to blame this predicament on nature, humans has a fault as well. We release thousands of greenhouse gases into the air through many procedures, but there are things that we cannot entirely control. However, whoever’s fault it is to blame I believe that if we work together and think we will more likely be able to find effective solutions for this problem.
The world has many years existing in this galaxy and every day we see that is changing more and more but not in a very good way that it can end in the extinction of the planet earth. “Earth Hasn’t Heated Up This Fast Since the Dinosaurs’ End” (Lavelle). Carbon is growing so fast in the atmosphere faster than in the past 66 million years since the dinosaurs went extinct (Lavelle). All the presidents hold a position of power that could change this big problem that the planet is having, behind this problem there is other problems that are causing a much bigger problem in all the country. “By year 2100, the average temperature will rise by 5.8 degrees as a result of global warming. The Arctic ice is melting rapidly. By 2040 the region is expected to have a completely ice-free summer, or even earlier. Since 1880, the average temperature has risen by 1.4-Fahrenheit degrees” (Rinkesh). Humans are the one in power of this planet, they are often making some decisions, but they do not know if that is going to hurt the planet. Also, is because humans are selfish. These decisions often include manipulating the system of other country, how they work, what products they can make, how to get benefit from that country, and etc. Also, taking control and/ or credit over other countries work. Some countries are taking very serious the Global Warming problem, so the other countries want a prove of how are they helping to fix this problem. Many countries have agreements with other countries that
Climate change is something that affects us all as a human race, and we need to do something about it immediately. Ultimately, climate change is dangerous and upon us more than we realize. While there are some individuals who don't believe it exists at all, there are some who simply believe it is not caused by humans on this planet. My goal for this paper is to make aware the dangers that climate change poses to our planet and the human race. While doing this, I hope to provide fact-based evidence that supports the claim that we, as humans, cause the dangerous phenomena that is climate change and that we need to change our course of action before it is too late.
Despite the controversy that surrounds the existence of climate change, there is a high agreement among scientists that human-caused climate change in very real. Over the past two decades, surveys and studies have been done on climate change and the results have shown that the average global temperature has increased by about 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit. The sea level is also rising and heat waves are happening more frequently than before. These events could lead to an abrupt and potentially irreversible climate change but scientists do not know the tipping point for such an event. Therefore, the sooner the inhabitants of earth begin to take action against climate change, the less likely something irreversible could happen.
The studies of Earth have shown that in the last hundred years, the temperature has gone up one degree Fahrenheit. Even just one degree can make a big difference to the Earth’s natural form. The warming of the Earth has caused the snow and ice to melt much faster and the ocean levels to rise. In the next hundred years the effects will be more severe.
Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, the earth has seen a dramatic escalation of CO2 emissions of almost 12-fold, though large-scale fossil fuels burnings.
Current data reveals that the concentration of Carbon Dioxide in the earth's atmosphere is approximately 387 parts per million, which is roughly a 31% increase in the period 1750 to 2009. Consequently, it is evident that such increases in temperatures have caused a warmer planet (7). It is also evident that it is impossible to reverse the developments of industrial revolution. This means that as the advancements of industrial revolution continue and as energy demands increases, it is possible that this trend of climate change will continue for decades to come (McAloon, 8). The consent of the climate research community is that it most likely already affects climate noticeably and will compel significant
In this paper, some of the growing threats to the environment and ideas of achieving sustainability is introduced. The threat arising from human induced climate change, summarizing its scientific basis and the most significant impacts is broken down into detail. The information proceeds to outline the action that is necessary to halt climate change especially in the energy sector. Overall, the information provided puts emphasis on the moral imperative for action and suggest how people in particular should respond to the effects of climate change.
The amount of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions that are produced and released in the atmosphere from Canada, the United States (U.S), and many other countries, is a big issue for the planet’s health since it causes climate change. Climate change has various damaging effects on the earth. It can cause severe weather such as floods, droughts, etc. Some political parties agree that a carbon pricing policy should be implemented, like the Green party, New Democratic Party (NDP), and the Liberals, while other parties think that it isn’t worth implementing, like the Conservatives. Implementing a carbon policy will take a lot of time, effort, and money, and might unfairly target those who are at a disadvantage, like low income people or those living in remote areas, making them pay more taxes. But to avoid the harmful effects of climate change, Canada needs to implement a carbon pricing policy—a method that has made a significant change in many countries that decided to tax or cap carbon emissions.
Through various scientific researches, it has been confirmed that human influence on the climate system is clear and recent anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases are the highest in history (Climate Change 2014 Synthesis Report Summary for Policymakers, 2014). The earth has become successively warmer over the last three decades since 1850. Both scientific and observed evidence have shown
Since the Industrial Revolution began, human activities have significantly contributed to the changing climate by emitting high concentrations of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Over the past couple of decades, there has been climate change controversy concerning whether climate change is occurring, how much has occurred in modern times, what has caused it, and whether the effects are significant. Although some believe that it is due to natural causes and is not a significant topic, climate change is a phenomenon that has a dramatic impact on human health, disrupts natural ecosystems, and can increase the intensity and frequency of natural disasters.
All that needs to be done for a person to see that climate change is upon the world is to look outside. The seasons that used to be defined by their drastically different weather have started to blend into a year-long battle for hot and cold, along with unusual rainfall during typically dry spells. Climate change is the change in global or regional climate patterns. Global warming is the idea that the world is being heated by a few degrees every year brought on by an increase in carbon dioxide levels from the growing use of fossil fuels. Together these two things will begin to change the habitats as we know them and could devastate the world as we know it. There have been many studies on the changing climate, and people have begun to realize how significant of an issue this is in present time. The government and the EPA have released many bulletins on changes that are currently taking place, and have projected that it will only continue to escalate to the point that humankind will have a minuscule chance of survival. There are those who do not agree that people are causing the shut-down of the climates, or adding to the breakdown of the ozone layer that protects us from radiation in the atmosphere. Some scientists refuse to accept that taking any preventative measures will have any impact on the climate changes, in lieu of the astounding evidence that points to us being the major contributors of the carbon dioxide buildup in the air. Despite what some scientists believe,
Recently, global temperature is without a doubt increasing, and there is a very powerful chance that the reason for the heat range change is man made pollution. The alleged cause of this climatic change is the development of carbon dioxide, which blocks solar heat and keeps it from radiating out of the weather.
“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately…and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived” (Thoreau, 66). In two decades of life, I have struggled to find anything superior to a forest path for the endeavor of self-reflection and growth. I have been awestruck at the vastness of the Blue Ridge mountains and entranced by the moon’s gentle glow permeating a midnight canopy. Although I treasure these sublime experiences, they do not motivate me to advocate for a sustainable society. Climate change is a byproduct of humanity’s unprecedented impact on the planet and it threatens the sublime natural spaces that many environmentalists hold dear. With the impending threats of sea level rise, super storms, food shortages, and extinction, environmentalists must find a new course of action. If the worst manifestations of climate change are to be prevented, the movement must more effectively engage the public and facilitate a reduction of carbon emissions and material waste. At the root of this issue lies environmentalism’s failure to embrace a single conception of nature. As the movement lacks a consensus on “nature,” it has no uniformity of rhetoric or singular goal. Some environmentalists wish to preserve sublime wilderness, others fight to prevent ecological collapse, while still others wish simply to save nature. Whatever their motives for participation, environmentalists must unify behind one conception
The Earth is slowly dying and we can save it, however, it requires some initiative. Global warming, or climate change, is a very real problem that may soon wipe out the Earth’s resources. Some of which include necessary items such as natural foods and water. This problem doesn’t just happen in some third-world country no one has heard of. This is happening right in our own back yards. This problem has a very simple solution: conserve energy, cut down on Carbon Dioxide emissions, and focus on developing technology that utilizes clean renewable energies.
