During the first round of data collection, 48 recording sheets were distributed over four work days, three shifts per day, and four work areas per shift. There were 109 restocking times reported on the recording sheets. The mean was 7 minutes and 32 seconds. The median was 7 minutes and 37 seconds.
During the second round of data collection, 48 recording sheets were distributed over four work days, three shifts per day, and four work areas per shift. There were 110 restocking times reported on the recording sheets. The mean was 7 minutes and 13 seconds. The median was 7 minutes and 16 seconds.
Employees who restocked the work areas were given questionnaires that asked about the perceived cleanliness of the stock room and refrigerator and freezer storage areas, the perceived workload, the perceived ease of finding supplies, and employee’s sex, age, and years with the company. There were 109 responses, but one questionnaire was omitted because it was incomplete. The first three questions used a Likert-like scale, where 1 is strongly disagree and 5 is strongly agree.
The mean for the first question, which asked if the stock area clean, was 3.22. The median was 3 and the mode was 3. The mean for the second question, which asked if the employee had a lot of supplies to gather, was 3.57. The median was 3 and the mode was 3. The mean for the third question, which asked if it was easy to find the necessary supplies, was 1.80. The median was 3 and the mode was 3.
