There are so many different superheroes but the most popular are Superman and Batman. These two characters are the best American superheroes of all times. Superman and Batman are both extremely courageous and from each we can take something to inspire us. We do not live in a perfect world. As the story of Batman shows, the challenges in our lives make us to become who we are. Superman, who is not a human being, reminds us that the world can be better with the help of all of us. We have to be better people in order to help others. Winston Churchill once said, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give”. (Gunderman, 56).

Superman skills came naturally. He can carry heavy things. He has superfast speed, bulletproof body, supersonic hearing, laser and x-ray vision and cannot be bruised easily. The only thing that can kill Superman is kryptonite. For Superman to do good and save humans is a calling. He fights to serve the world and to protect his city, Metropolis. Superman is a character of light as the colors on his costume are light colors, red and blue. He fights his crimes in daytime and that makes him visible most of the time. Gary Engle describes Superman as the ultimate American, “Superman is the greatest American hero” (Engle, 1).
Batman was born on planet Earth as Bruce Wayne. He is a human being who decided to become a superhero after the killing of his parents. After the death of his parents, the family butler raised him in a rich environment with good education in a big city. Bruce Wayne does not need to work because his parents were rich and after their death, he inherited their company, Wayne Enterprises. Batman hides his identity in order to protect the real Bruce Wayne. He is a handsome, millionaire playboy that likes to show off. Wayne likes to live his real life on the edge. Coming from a rich family, he has access to anything. Batman does not inherit his power naturally. He is a superhero without superpowers. He had to work very hard for all of the skills that he has. He learns how to become strong through martial arts and the use of
Superman is intelligent but not a genius. He has a photographic memory. Both Batman and Superman has a hidden identity to protect their love ones. Batman wears a black suit, cape, and mask he also changes his voice when he is Batman. Superman suit is red, blue, and yellow and his cape is
In the 1930s two characters appeared in comic literature that became icons of pop culture. Batman and Superman are the golden boys of DC comics and are considered the most popular of all superheroes. Being around for over seventy years these two have acquired a near endless fan base of all ages. The two kings of comics have often been portrayed as allies, though they have different views on situations. The argument of who is truly the better hero has been around since their creation. To compare these two juggernauts we must look at their defining traits; origin of the hero, their alter egos, and of course their strengths and weaknesses.
Heroic heroes, Batman and Gilgamesh, perform numerous brave deeds. Before Bruce becomes Batman, he receives expert training from the League of Shadows high in the mountains where he learns how to disappear, face his fears, and become more than a man. In the Iliad, Achilles has the same concept of a special weapon, his armor. In both of Batman and Gilgamesh’s’ lives, they experience a tremendously traumatic event that changes their outlook on the world and life. Batman, Bruce Wayne, watches his parents be murdered in front of his own eyes as a young child and then blames himself for their death for his entire life, until he is taught to forget the past and make the future. Gilgamesh also had someone close to him die, his best friend.
Though Batman tries to be portrayed as a hero, he is only a vigilante since he helps the law, but is not a part of it. This means that he fights crime, but is not a member of the police force or other civil duties that
But whence digging past the loud colours and the "it's-a-bird-it's-a-plane," generic, one realises the true face of Superman. He isn't super for his inhuman abilities or his capricious appearance, he isn't a true man for his strong build and his appealing features: Superman is super because he's what everyone should aspire to be, and he is a man because he melds the world in a form of good and good only. For if Superman wanted to, he could rule the world and no one would be able to stop him. Superman is, literally, a god among men. He has the power to sink entire continents and kill millions of people with ease, but he chooses to protect everyone, good or bad, no matter how insignificant and tiny the life is for nothing in return. Superman is a hero because he's there for everyone, never compromising his ideals and taking the high road to support those in need. This is despite the fact that he could basically be a god lording over others without much trouble, but instead chooses to serve and inspire. That is why he is a hero. Superman is the ultimate hero, and not just because he is the most powerful being on earth but for his integrity which sets him completely apart. One could constantly remark on how Superman looks for the best in everyone, how he is ultimately loyal and selfless, not even considering the fact that he could rule the world but chooses to serve is the greatest compliment you can
The main factor that tells me that Superman is a better Superhero is that fact that he actually has powers whereas Batman has to rely on money. Superman has many powers such as: Extreme strength, invulnerability, heat and x-ray vision, super breath, and flight. Batman on the other hand, has no powers and without his billionaire status, would
This source discusses relation between crime and justice in two of most popular superheroes Batman and Superman. The article talks about the different societies and environments that the superheroes reside in. Batman belonging to a large crime invested Gotham city and Superman residing in New York City after coming to earth after his home planet was destroyed. This article also is quick to point out these two characters were brought about
Beowulf was a brave and strong hero. He feared nothing. Superman is much like Beowulf in this sense. Beowulf did not have super powers but he had no fear of death. He didn’t go out to fight demons for gold. He fought for glory. Superman was similar. He fought to protect. He did not want anything in return. The thing that makes these two men heroes is that they would lay down their life at any moment to save another. The both faced their “demons”. Superman fought crime day to day as Beowulf went around the world to fight demons and prevent them from harming villages. Although both of these heroes were great, they both had their weaknesses. Beowulf could not resist the beauty of Grendel’s mother. She was too beautiful for him to resist.
Superman, also known as Kal El, has shown many different powers since his first debut in 1938. This paper will discuss various topics about four of his major powers and explain why they are all impossible for anyone to achieve in real life. Superman’s four major powers that will be discussed in this paper are X-ray vision, being able to fly, super strength, and invulnerability. The X-ray was first discovered in 1895 by a German physicist named W.C. Roentgen (“The Discovery”). W.C. Roentgen was working in a lab one day in 1895 and decided to send a high electrical current through a cathode ray filled with special gas.
While Batman was still Bruce Wayne, his parents were killed by a soon to be supervillain, this caused him to have an alternative motive to become a “hero.” For example Captain America fight crime and serves the city for the people not for his own benefit. Batman might seem like he is doing what hero is supposed to do, but he is merely trying to avenge his parents death. “ Police are perplexed, worried the group will turn into vigilantes and doubt that the superhero policy is ever stopped any crime,” (source A). This is the same with Batman; the police do not know what to make of him but are worried that he will get himself in trouble. Batman might seem like he is doing things for others, yet he does them for himself.
He carried his victims to safety and used his body to stop a train. His powers were endless it seemed. There was one thing that could make Superman as weak as a baby. He would lose all his powers if someone brought Kryptonite near him. Superman worked alone.
The poet, David Meltzer once said: "Superman came not out of our strength but out of our vulnerability." Superman became a symbol of hope and a reassurance of safety. Superman represents the way America was supposed to be. He portrays someone who could save the lives of the innocent and yet be kind enough to spare the lives of the criminals; Someone who could've saved Siegel's father.
I believe Superman is the most tremendous DC Comics superhero out of all of them. First, he is a alien from a planet that has been destroyed. Saying that he is very comparable to The Doctor from Doctor Who, because there is only two of them left of their entire race. Both of these heroes never use violence. I say that because neither of them ever really kill anyone. Indefinitely they are really the best heroes in the end because nobody ever dies.
Now in these days everyone one likes to read comic books since they became part of our society. What makes them interesting is how entertaining they could get giving us different points of views on different stories of superheroes. Many of us believe that “Classic superheroes stories are wildly fun, suspenseful and exciting” (Tom and Matt Morris) forgetting the idea of what really makes a hero. Different perceptions of superheroes are considered based on their wrong actions and way of thinking. Frank’s Miller Batman: The Dark Knight Returns is one of the comic books that make us “rethink the conception of the superhero and press each of us to reconsider some of the fundamental moral principles
When you think of a superhero one normally thinks of Spiderman, Batman, or Superman, but there were superheroes long before these characters were created. First one must understand that the basis of this name is hero. What is a hero? A hero is a person who does something special or out of the ordinary in order to help others. It could also be someone who is admired for a characteristic about them, be it physical or mental. They are individuals that normal everyday people can look up to. This being the case, a superhero is nothing more then someone who is a hero, but not just that once and for that one person, but someone who helps many people, or leads them. As time went by the number of people who were true heroes diminished and just
