The Hunger Games is a book that can catch the attention of anyone, but should it be taught at the middle school age level? I believe that The Hunger Games should not be required to be read because of the media. The media can be used for manipulation of people. The second reason why I think this is because of murder. Children are being brutally murdered for the entertainment of the people in the book or film, but also for us. The last reason why I think this is a lie. Younger readers and viewers are being exposed to lying, which isn’t a good thing. In my opinion, The Hunger Games should not be taught at middle school age level. To start, hunger games shouldn’t be taught at ages 12 and up because of the media. The media can be used to manipulate …show more content…
An example is, in the text, it states, “The Hunger Games are a reminder that all of us eventually have to measure our conscience against very tough decisions. And that we had better be ready for them.” This shows how The Hunger Games is a book that can show or teach children about making tough decisions. It will also prepare kids for when they have to learn about violence and murder. Although some may believe that The Hunger Games is a book that is fine for 12 year olds to read, they are also shown to the topic of lying. According to the text, “When he presents a “fake” story of a burgeoning love for Katniss for the viewing audience to obsess over, Katniss is forced to lie about feelings she does not yet have for Peeta, all to win the support of the viewers.” This shows how Katniss is being forced to lie for the support of the viewers to survive The Hunger Games. And also when reading or watching the movie you are viewing people lying which younger readers or viewers might find okay to do. In addition, lying is the final reason that The Hunger Games is a film and book that should not be taught to middle school age
How would you feel if young kids became murderers for the entertainment of people? The Hunger Games is based on this exact idea. Kids in middle school get to watch this in school and learn about it. It is a movie that teaches kids to lie, cheat, and get violent. This is inappropriate and not something kids should be watching at a young age. Violence is shown in the hunger games throughout the movie. This is not okay for kids to be watching as it teaches kids bad lessons throughout the movie.According

about what my life would be like if I was the protagonist in one of these stories. By the time the first Hunger Games movie came about in 2012 I was in the sixth grade and absolutely obsessed. I had all the books, magazines, posters and even pillowcases. Naturally I started to compare all of my school experiences to the Nation of Panem and I was protagonist Katniss Everdeen. Unfortunately, school has all the same horrible trials as each contestant went through, much like the citizens of district 12

If I were to be asked today when the last time I read a book willingly, with absolutely no attachments to a school assignment, I could safely guess it has been about five years. Throughout my history of living, there has been a decreasing trend in books I have read for pleasure. I can remember being read stacks upon stacks of books and poems, biographies and autobiographies, short stories and even the entire collection of the Junie B. Jones series by my mom who was probably more obsessed with the
better the world around me. My father, for one, has been my literary sponsor for the sport of softball. This type of literacy is one that is mostly for fun, but it also gave me incentive to spend time with my dad. He was the one who taught me every aspect of the game (how to swing a bat, pitch the ball, and catch a pop fly). When I wanted to work on hitting, he would bring me to a batting cage and pitch to me for as long as I wanted. When I was in the mood to pitch, he would take me out in the backyard
Teaching Forward: ED 105 & My Middle School Field Experience Introduction My strongest belief is that education is the foundation for success. Knowledge opens so many doors and opportunities that would not exist without it. The American education system should be no exception to the notion that we live in the “Land of Opportunity,” and each child should have the opportunity to receive a quality education equivalent to their peers regardless of who or where they come from. Through the ED 105 course
Introduction Childhood obesity is an epidemic that goes on throughout the United States. Studies have shown how obesity in children may start, and how it affects each and every child in America. Childhood obesity has been getting attention in the media from famous celebrities all the way to the First Lady of the United States. There are many things that cause childhood obesity and very few ways to stop it. However, there are people out there who are trying to help by getting children active, eating

It means people should eat what they want without caring about what other people will say or think about them. As much as what you eat is your business, people should consider the health effects of what they eat to avoid the obesity issue or other bad eating habits related diseases. The advertisements of snacks and junk foods tend to attract people making them forget the staple food from the firms and adopt the new food stuff. The advertisement of these snacks makes the school going kids to have
The French classroom buzzes with chatter. Today it’s Crêpe day. Madame will show us some of the foods relished in France. For many of us it’s a day of relaxation and peace. Madame has hinted that we might go to an authentic French restaurant and this excites the classroom. The chances of being able to practice our French there is slim, but still intriguing. She teaches us slang and idioms from France in hopes for us to create a deeper connection with the culture. We struggle with the pronunciation
