The Importance Of 4H

4H has made some amazing changes in my life and continues to change it in so many different ways. I am not the person I was 6 years ago when I joined 4H and it has made me the person I am today. I continue to learn new knowledge, make new friends, and make new memories.
Many leadership experiences have helped me become who I am today from running meetings to teaching showmanship to other members. The 2015-2016 year is the first year I have held the position of president in my clubs, and I am currently president of 5 clubs. I have grown so much already just by leading meetings and putting the learning activities together. Showmanship has helped me to gain the goal of public speaking, practicing in front of my clubs have helped me gain more confidence in public speaking. I have been able to use my knowledge of public speaking in many school projects and have had my confidence show through in my work. I have relied a lot on my fellow 4H members when I have questions about one of my animals that I show. In addition to using my fellow member’s knowledge, I do research on my own in order to gain more knowledge about my rabbits, guinea pigs, dog, chickens and goats. My goal every year is to learn at least one new fact or even a method of training with my animals each year in order to grow my knowledge. I would like to own my own ranch that may hold special programs like “A Day At The Farm” where schools and the public come and I teach them about agriculture and gardening and bring in some local 4H’ers to talk about the program and agriculture as well. I have been involved in many different community service projects from animal shelter collection drives, to collecting food for soup kitchens, doing many projects that involve the military, and many more that I feel like have made a change in my community. I have also been taking my animals to nursing homes for 5 years now and Fluff-n-Stuff has also become involved with that service through an organization headed by one of our member’s grandmother called Miracles on Hooves. I will continue to help my community in the years to come both in big and small
