My mission for this center is to provide children to be part of a learning environment where they’re nurtured and they experience many opportunities to learn and grow, and to provide developmentally appropriate children activities, play, and projects to promote their physical, social, and emotional development. The community center will have programming for different age groups (youth, young adults, and adults). Youth- Introducing youth to basic financial concepts, beginning relationships with banking institutions (through savings), developing classes to teach youth about starting a business, and hosting challenges to have them start their own short-term micro-businesses. Young adults- Continued education on financial literacy and businesses, planning and savings for higher education, and a platform to begin their own micro-business. Adults- Financial literacy, business concepts, and work with them to develop new products and run the stores.

After receiving the blessing from their Pastor, Bishop Alphonzo D. Brooks, the first official gathering of Agape 1 Ministries took place in April 1998 at the home of Minister Howwin and Missionary Yvonne Carter. The gathering which was in the form of bible study consisted of a few individuals in search of biblical truth and spiritual growth. Over the next few months, the bible study gatherings grew tremendously along with Pastor and Missionary Carter’s heart toward expanding the ministry. God led Minister and Missionary Carter to pastor and holistically address the needs of the people.

The need for an Elder Youth program was identified through analyzation of BBNA’s existing services. It required thinking critically about what more could be done to grow the organization’s impact. It became clear that while BBNA does currently offer services for children, youth, and Elders, the existing programs could be further bolstered to create additional benefits. Suggested changes to existing programs will be discussed in the Proposed Program section of the paper.
