The Importance Of Differences In Education

Although the lack of data concerning the impact of separating twins in the classroom, this study proves beneficial in the continued search for information. This survey of school personnel indicated “80% of the participants had received no training concerning twins…98% did not know whether any information or material was available” (Nilsson, Leonard, Barazanji, & Simeone, 2010, p.13). This lack of knowledge corresponds with the findings of Hay and Preedy (2006). The deficiency of educational material for teachers and counselors remains stagnant. Another Australian study examines how parents make the decision about classroom placement, and what differences are in the rationale about separating the children or placing them together (Staton, …show more content…

Over half the principals in favor of separating believe twins achieve more academically when separated, this “fact” is not evidence based (Gordon, 2015, p. 603). Again, this information highlights the need for research to educate school administrators on the best methods to educate twins. The data collected by Gordon proves useful in understanding the considerations behind the decisions made by educators, teachers, parents and twins when deciding how to place them in the school; however, it is deficient of the results of separation. Education on the influences of separation should have these administrators reevaluating current decision on classroom placement (should this go here?). A paucity in existing data remains. As can be seen, most research on multiples in the classroom has been conducted overseas; present research finds few studies performed within the United States (Beauchamp & Brooks, 2003). The nature of the studies completed abroad continues to provide invaluable information to supplement any continuous research into the subject matter of the education of twins (Beauchamp & Brooks, 2003). The previously discussed articles jointly admit there is a problem of educating twins and knowing how to place them in the classroom. The surveys of parents,
