I have minimal expectations for the federal government, however, the federal government is expected to sustain protection, an education, and resolve national and global crises. The government is expected to provide national protection to ensure the safety of the nation's citizens. This includes protection by air, on the borders. Furthermore, an armed force is fundamental to assure safety. Likewise, the government is expected to provide a general education for all citizens. A surge of unintelligent individuals would lead to destruction among the masses. In like manner, destruction due to lack of knowledge should be circumvented by providing a general education on a nation level. Lastly, the federal government is expected to enlighten national
The words spoken by man have the power to shape and ratify everything in its path. These following questions will do just that. Is not the strengthening of our federal government essential to the maintaining of a stable bureaucracy? Must we forego the strong fundamental structure that will ensure that every man will benefit immensely from a nation governed by those of the utmost intelligence and experience? We as a nation must procure a stance that will enforce and implement the necessary laws by any means possible. This can only be obtained only if all parties are on one accord with an understanding that the rights of the people and their protection are our governments’ only concern. The strong structure of a government can only
Even though the Declaration of Independence does not mention education, our founding fathers did value education. Illustrated by the ordinances they passed “in 1785 and 1787 that granted federal lands to states to create and support public school- an institution that the nation’s founders viewed as essential to democracy and national unification.” (Jennings, p3) In 1959, the admission of Alaska and Hawaii into the Union reconfirmed the Federal government’s support of education. Three distinct elements that impact education are; laws that have been passed, the removal of the church from public schools, and the role of federal government that has evolved and changed over the years. These three factors have transformed education over the
Education is the key to our future and that is why it is such an important subject in the United States. Education relates to federalism by interacting with the national government, state governments, and local governments. Each level of government is responsible for improving education within their limits of power.
In the 1997 article, “Public Goods, Private Goods: The American Struggle over Educational Goals” by David Labaree, Labaree describes three goals that have been at the core of educational conflicts over the years. The first goal mentioned is democratic equality, which is meant to create good citizens and enable educational access to all. The second goal is social efficiency, which creates workers and is viewed by taxpayers and employers as a goal to prepare students for market roles. Lastly is the third goal of social mobility, where individual success for attractive market roles is the main purpose. This primary goal of education has been ever fluctuating. The argument of this essay is that social mobility has now triumphed over democratic equality and social efficiency as the primary goal of education due to parents. This view of social mobility by parents is negative to due its numerous consequences, significantly the growing disparity between the wealthy and the underprivileged, and additionally, the health of children, their behavior, and the degree to which they learn educational material are all affected.
The United States has many conflicts, one of them is funding on public education. Despite the fact that funding on public education will not help students succeed academically with the money provided to the schools, every school deserves to get as much money because students will receive more proper education and will be more successful students in the future.
Advanced technology and forms of communication have changed the way we look at our nation. The current political climate and the cultural movement that is happening in our nation is going to go down in history as a revolution. A revolution where news headlines are instantaneously on our phone screens, and thanks to our advanced technology, a whole world of information is a few clicks away. However, despite these advancements in technology, the cultural change in America is often slowed down because there is a general lack of education. In America, education is the one, if not the biggest barriers that economically and institutionally suppress an overwhelming amount of the nation’s adults. Majority of adults in America do not have basic reading and writing skills yet education is still not a priority in America. There is a crucial need for education in America, now more than ever. In my opinion, the only reason for the current political climate in America is the lack of education that brings basic awareness. The solution to what we are witnessing as a nation is an education that makes individuals aware of the reality of our circumstances and allows them to see a perspective from multiple points of views. In this paper, I will present my argument on why education should be made a priority in America.
The government should be should be looked to for focus and administration, however for a little our government was feared. “In the new two-level political federation created by the Constitution, the national government would exercise limited, delegated powers, and the existing state governments would retain authority over all other matters” (America 182). The constitution gave guidelines to follow to ensure freedom and justice for all. This is what America is all about, freedom to do anything and justice
Our founding fathers visualized a national government with specific and limited responsibilities. They were to mainly preserve domestic harmony, keep the nation safe, and have restricted intervention in the daily lives of citizens. However, with wars, depressions, and rights movements, citizen’s fears and anxieties grew. American citizens turned to the federal government for help.
A reason to have a federal government is because it will educate everybody. It will also be a benefit to help our future generation. Our future generation should not have to go through life being uneducated to be honest no one should have to go through that. the reason why i say these things because I George Read had to go through these things this is why i say a federal government is the best government that you all should vote
Federalism involves the sharing of powers between different levels of government. In the United States this relates to the government at national level (the federal government) and those at the level of the state. The United Kingdom is not a federal state instead it is a unitary state where power is held in one place (parliament). Federalism is the process of sharing power between a central government, in America’s case Washington, and the States. The US Constitution dictates what areas the Federal Government have control of and the areas that the States have control of. Amendment 10 of the Bill of Rights dictates that any area that is not a power of Congress, President or Supreme Court it
Our current government is an intricate and well-thought-out process that is corrupted by self-centered, cynical people. The government has been through many events and obstacles, including the previous time when we were under the Articles of Confederation, which were proclaimed to be too weak. The Great Depression was also a dark time, under the leadership of Franklin D. Roosevelt the county was able to find its way out, and revenue generated from the war helped enormously. The amount of leadership changed both has helped and occasionally hurt, no matter how qualified the people in Office were at the time. Of course, the government hasn’t always had virtuous people solely participating, but with the right moves the people of this country can change that.
During the 1980s, various issues are likely to emerge concerning public and Federal interest in education. These issues include the extent of education to be provided at public expense; the relative share of the education fiscal burden to be borne by local, State, and Federal revenue sources; public funding for nonpublic schools; equal access to education for all students; national performance standards; declining rate of growth in resources; and competition for funds among various social service
My expectations of our federal government is as follows: first thing is that all three branches of the federal government remain in charge of the subject they are entitled to. The first branch is the legislative which is when the congress makes the laws. The second branch is the executive which is when the president, vice president and cabinet carry out those laws. The third and last branch is the judicial which is when the Supreme Court and other courts evaluates the laws. The Federal government provides certain safety and regulatory and educational services for the people. The first main important thing that the government does for us is the national security to maintain our rights to freedom. Another important thing is that they provide
We live in this country for the land, and the for the free as Americans we rely on many attributes in this world in order for us to live our lives. Our government has supplied us with many great things for us to be proud of. Our government is “the institutions and processes though which public policies are made for society.” (Edwards, Wattenberg, and Lineberry, p. 7). With all these institutions which includes the President, Congress, the courts and all the federal administrative agencies. These are the institutions that make up public policies for us, and to shape the way we live as Americans. The way this system has been operating through all the years has been
I expect the government to be dynamic: multiple party system, no dictatorships, and all that good stuff. A government’s job is to keep the government changing. It needs to adapt and change with the times; like Roe v. Wade or the decision to legalize gay marriage. It’s important for a government o constantly reevaluate itself and its values. Another one of its jobs is to keep the country a place of lively political debate. George Washington may have warned us about falling into political parties, but they keep government a changing and turn it into a series of modern policies as opposed to an out dated philosophy. Of course there are also the simple things a government should do such as keep people safe, impose laws, fix debt etc. When you really
