Although the american dream is not as achievable as it once was, the american dream is still accessible for every american. America is still the number one nation that thrives in having a system that any american can speak freely and be able to have an equal opportunity to be successful. America is one nation that people think of, that will better their lives and will give them a better life than their previous country couldn't provide.
The american dream back then was when our founding fathers created a system in which people were created equal and everyone has opportunities to become successful. Today this system still exists but some people believe that the dream is dead and is no longer available. This is not true. The U.S. is one of the best nations to become successful, it has all the essentials for someone to become successful. In this day and age, the american dream is being able to go to school and getting a good education to be successful when they grow up.
“At sixteen, i worked after high school hours at a printing plant...sluggish by 9pm, the hands would slide along suddenly sharp paper, and gather slits thinner than the crevicesof the skin hidden...glue would sting, hands oozing… ten years later, in law school, i knew that every legal pad was glued with the sting of hidden cuts…”(Espada 83-84). This infers that in high school he had a job and that job and him being in highschool taught him that not taking advantage of what he is provided would leave him with a boring and job thus made him work harder to get into law school and experiences with the printing plant helped him with him being in law school. The american dream is something that any american can achieve if they are determined to becoming a successful individual.
Since the constitution was passed every american is granted certain rights that no one can take away. It is what makes America suchs a strong and independent nation that people want to come to because of the rights and the opportunities it provides. In the text “The Four Freedoms” by Roosevelt, he talks about how the american dream operates and how it can be applied to every american citizen. “Equality of opportunity for youth and for others. Jobs for those who can work.
