In the inspirational autobiography, I am Malala written by Malala Yousafzai with the help of Christina Lamb, Malala takes the reader through her journey of peaceful protest in the hopes of gaining education for middle eastern women even with a gun to her head. As the Taliban started to take control over Swat Valley they began to remove the signs off school buildings and even bombed over 400 schools. Girls, like Malala who craved education continued going to school while supporters of Maulana Fazullah leader of the Talibs congratulated the girls who left and made fun of the women who stayed by calling them “buffaloes and sheep”.
