Imagine a situation where a big event was taken place and among the many people a mass shooting breaks out killing hundreds until the police shown up 12 minutes later. Concealed carry laws save lives. To start off, it is an Americans constitutional right to bear arms for self-defense. Second, concealed carry is effective and proven to keep civilians safer. “In truth, the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun” (Chong 27).

The Second Amendment has given the right to individuals to keep and bear arms since December, 15th 1791. Even though this has been in the Constitution for 223 years, the issue of gun control and the right to concealed carry has been a growing issue in the United States. Whether citizens should be allowed to legally carry a gun has been a growing debate. In this paper, I will talk about the history of concealed carry, the different types of issuances among the states, and how to obtain your concealed carry license in Wisconsin along with providing concrete evidence with different statistics and stating the pros and cons of the issue.

Concealed carry has been in news for a while now and is a hot topic. Concealed carry means more guns around us. Those who not paying attention might assume that open concealed carry is something new, something rare, perhaps reckless at best and dangerous at worst, but that is far from the truth. In a nation that prides itself on protecting the rights of all citizens, one right is under a blistering attack. According to the second amendment the “right to bear arms shall not be infringed” but in every corner of America that right is getting closer and closer to disappearing. In the news, Americans only hear of the guns that kill, they don’t hear of the guns that save. The fact of the matter is, the right to carry concealed weapons has saved lives.

There are many benefits to having a concealed carry license. The main reasons are work, self-defense, hunting, and target shooting. For instance in February, a pharmacy in West Virginia was held up at gunpoint. The pharmacist acted to save the lives of his staff and customers by firing two shots into the suspect, with his own concealed carry handgun. No one ended up being robbed that day and the suspect later died in the hospital. (Owens, 2015). In another incident, a combat vet saved his aunt and her boyfriend from an estranged husband that came into the house and began shooting. The estranged husband’s life was ended and three lives were saved. (Chilson, 2014). In another incident a man in Alabama was walking home with his dogs and was attacked by a bear. He pulled his revolver and killed the bear before he or his dogs sustained injuries. (Learn About Guns, 2009). I personally believe that an armed society is a polite society. To begin, a large portion of people support the right to carry a concealed handgun, but there is still a portion of people that do not support it and for good reasons too. There is a small percentage of the population that has a concealed weapons permit. In that small percentage everyone is a law abiding citizen, except for a few here and there. They are a set of citizens hard to tell apart in a crowd because of their normality. This meaning that they do not plan on doing harm with their weapon. They respect the fact that having a concealed weapon is serious business. They are willing to go through the tests and classes that one must go through to obtain their permit. They know all the laws, which they must fallow, with that one could safely say that a concealed weapon would be handled safely by this set of people.

If someone would have told me seven years ago that I would be for the right to bear arms and oppose the idea of strict gun control, I would have said they were crazy. Most of my life I was not a pro-gun person and I believed that people should have to deal with only handguns for protection and the rest of the firearms should be saved for our military. While I do believe people should have to go through background checks to own a gun, because it is a big responsibility, I believe that everyone, within reason, should legally able to carry or have guns. With the violence in today’s society, it is a smarter move, I believe, to carry a handgun to stop those causing harm.

Many people do not accept that people can have a concealed carry weapon (CCW) with them at any location. Yet, the criminals that have a firearm ,use them for wrong, the people who have them for safety and protection obtain a bad name.Concealed carry firearms should be allowed everywhere because if there is more guns, there is less crime , It is safer for people to protect themselves then to have other people or law enforcements protect them, and there is a lot more gun carrying people then police officers.

Some people believe carrying handguns in public will help protect them in the long run if a dangerous situation occurs, while some others believe that many dangerous situations occur from those that carry guns, becoming the threat in public. This paper will examine the cons of allowing concealed handguns in public, along with analyzing/rebutting some pros identified with this health topic, followed by a proposed public health policy to address this important health topic.

According to United States’s current death toll So far in 2017 there has been more than 9000 people killed by those who have the right to be able to carry concealed weapons. If this issue doesn’t get stopped soon more and more innocent people will continue to keep on getting killed by guns. If enough people stand up for this law than people would not have to worry about letting their kids go to school without losing their life. Gun restrictions in the United States should be tightened because if not so more and more people will be killed due to people being able to carry concealed weapons. There are many reasons why gun restrictions should be tightened so are some examples on why they should be tightened. Gun control has been an ongoing issue throughout our nation for a very long time. Many places throughout Ohio have banned guns on their property and some has allowed people to carry concealed. Many places Guns that have been carried concealed have saved many lives because they have stopped people from going on killing streaks. Americans should have a right to bear arms because it is in our constitution. Walking around anywhere is dangerous because of how easy it is for anyone to access the use of guns. When I’m in class and someone walks in the room and starts to shoot up the class, how can I protect my classmates and I? Ohio State should allow conceal carry because it is our constitutional right as Americans given to us through the 2nd Amendment, right to Bear Arms.
