Have you ever noticed that the book and the movie of the same story have many similarities and differences? Perhaps you have. Well, I am about to tell you about one that has some right now, called The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan. The book was published June of 2005. The movie came out February of 2010. There are many differences and similarities to this book and movie, and I’m about to tell you about them. (Warning: Spoilers!) One difference between the movie and the book is that the movie does not have all the characters that are in the book. In the book there are two characters named Mr.D and Clarisse. Those two characters are not in the movie. In the book, the main character Percy Jackson wasn’t at the flag in capture the flag, but instead was attacked by a large hellhound. He was also teamed up with another main character in the story named Annabeth. In the movie, He had captured the flag after he had met and fought Annabeth, without being attacked by any hellhound. In the book, capture the flag was at night. In the movie, Capture the flag was in broad daylight. In the book, Percy was positioned at the creek. In the movie, Percy …show more content…
In the book, there were no pearls to collect. In the movie, to find one of those pearls, Percy, Annabeth and Grover fought a five headed dragon called the hydra. In the book, there was no hydra. In the book, they were dragged down a deep hole by a shield that another camper named Luke gave them, in the underworld after visiting Hades, and catching a ferry. In the movie, Percy said a phrase to get into the underworld and a door of rock opened, so that the group could walk down a few stairs into the underworld and catch a ferry to Hades’ lair, without any hole. In the movie, Percy’s mother used a pearl to get back from the underworld. In the book, she came back in a
Comparing the book to the movie you can clearly tell what certain things are different. For example, Sydelle Pulaski worked for Mr. Westing in the movie but only talked over the intercom. This not only caused a lot of drama but more depth to the plot. Also, Crow didn’t go to jail but they did talk about most of the consequences of her going to jail. This made a little bit more serious and emotional instead of just letting it go.
When one hears the title I Am Legend being mentioned, they usually associate it with Will Smith and the terrific job he did in portraying the protagonist of the story Robert Neville. However, what they typically leave out is the equally terrific job done by author Richard Matheson coming up with the storyline and writing the original book version. While Richard Matheson’s post-apocalyptic science fiction book, I Am Legend, and Francis Lawrence’s post-apocalyptic science fiction movie, I Am Legend, both have similarities and differences, in the end, the original book version prevails mainly because the movie version alters the original storyline too much.
For instance, in the book Joppy knew Albright; Albright knew Todd Carter; Todd Carter knew Richard McGee as well as Matthew Terrell whereas in the movie every character denied knowing each other except Albright and Joppy. Another noticeable difference is that in the book Frank Green, Daphne’s brother ends up murdered and in the movie he lives and they both end up moving. The third noticeable difference is a character name change from the book to the movie; Matthew Teran in the book is Matthew Terrell in the movie and he ends up being murdered in the book whereas at the end of the movie he’s running for mayor. A fourth noticeable difference is the pier scene. In the book Albright and Easy meet at the Santa Monica pier and in the movie it is the Malibu pier. And the last most noticeable difference between the book and the movie is that Mouse knows Daphne Monet or shall we call her by her real name Ruby Hanks; however, in the movie the audience never finds that out. In the movie the only true thing you get to know about Daphne is that she is both black and white. Therefore, due to the many differences between the book and the movie it is confusing to the audience since it is almost like dealing with two different stories because of the plot inconsistencies.
Normally, when a movie is made about a story in a book the two stories are not exactly the same. The movie is adjusted by adding small details or leaving out some parts in order to make the story more
“The power of words, written or spoken, have life. They can change the world.” (search quotes). The power of words should not be underestimated. Liesel proves this to be true in the novel and the film The Book Thief. She uses words to develop relationships with her foster father, Hans Hubermann; Max Vandenburg, the illicit Jew in her basement; and her neighbours. In the novel The Book Thief by Markus Zusak there is much more relationship development compared to the film The Book Thief directed by Brian Percival. This consequently causes the theme of the power of words to be less prominent in the film.
When the socs and the greasers are going to have the big rumble in the book Darry asks if anyone wants to fight him but in the movie the person that he fight in both the book and movie says he will fight him. After the big rumble Dally and Ponyboy go to see Johnny who is almost dead and after he dies Ponyboy freaks out in the book and thinks he's not dead but in the movie it is only Dally. In the book Dally goes and robs a grocery store but in the movie he robs the gas station. When Dally leaves in the movie the guy shoots Dally and injures him but in the book he never had a gun. When Dally is shot by the police he is shot at the park in the movie but in the book he is shot in the street under the lamppost. There is so much more differences in the movie but it would be impossible to say them all so that is all of the differences i found from the book and
The book and movie are completely different. It 's like comparing apples and oranges. (I 'm assuming that you used the newest version with Guy Pierce). The biggest difference is probably the ommision of Haydee and Maximillien and Valentine (three of the main character) and the addition of Jacapo. Jacapo does is in the book, but he is never a large character.
When adapting a movie based on a book, there will be parts that are left out in the movie. These changes can either be good or bad, depending on how its executed. Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief fits under the latter category as the changes made were glaringly bad in my opinion and noticed by the fans of this book. In Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, I found three key differences compared to its film adaptation: how the journey started, the characters and their characterization, and missing plot points.
When comparing the book Twilight, written by Stephanie Meyers, with the movie Twilight, screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg and produced by Catherine Hardwicke, there are multiple visual differences between the two. Some important scenes were changed or even omitted from the original text, leaving noticeable gaps in the movie’s plot. There are big and important differences, which are obvious, while there are also less important differences between them such as names and small missing details. The most important differences between the book and movie were when Bella tells Edward she knows he is a Vampire and when Edward saves Bella from Tyler’s van in the beginning. In reading the book before seeing the movie
Some things are different in the book and movie. Like Sunset Towers and Money in both versions. Sunset towers is luxurious in the book but a bad place to live downtown. The money the will was worth 200 million but in the movie it is worth 20 million. Another difference is that the Wexlers moved to Sunset Towers because they had no money, but in the book they moved because they had money. In the movie Jake Wexler is paying off his debt though they have money in the book. Jake Wexler is a
Is High School football a sport, or is it more than that to some people? I’ve learned that the book is more sociological, which means that it focused on our human society of racial issues and also emphasizes the economy and the divide between the wealthy residents of one city versus the more working-class denizens of another are all subjects that are given an in-depth examination. This is more of the main or focal point of the whole book and in not so much in the movie. Although Bissinger's story is a true-life recounting of the 1988 football season of the Permian High School team, it reads like fiction and even though I believe his book is superior, the theatrical adaptation still stands apart as one of the great
There are other significant similarities between the movie and the book, so if I overlooked or forgot any extremely crucial points, forgive me.
Stephen King’s The Shining has maintained its cult status since its release in 1977. The Shining begins with Jack Torrance receiving a position as the winter caretaker for The Overlook Hotel, an isolated hotel in the Colorado Rockies. Jack hopes the stay will be therapeutic and allow him to focus on writing, family, and less on alcohol. As time progresses, unsettling events begin to transpire for Jack, his son Danny, and his wife Wendy. The intensity of the gothic novel came to life by the legendary Stanley Kubrick in 1980. The book was admired by fans, but Kubrick’s reimagining made it the iconic classic that it is today. Stephen King was not as fond of the movie. Although some of Kubrick’s take on The Shining complements the book, King
The first pearl being a floral shop that is abandoned that turns out to be Medusa’s layer. After the three defeat medusa they find the pearl and move on to the next place where there is a pearl was located. This was at the Parthenon replica in Tennessee. Once the group gets here they discover the pearl but have to wait till the park closes to retrieve it. Once they enter the Parthenon they retrieve the pearl but then meet a problem. A hydra sent by Hades enters and they have to battle the hydra. This was a very hard task because Percy being new to the supernatural world did not know about the hydra and chopped off its entire heads for two more to grow back in each of their places. In the end they used Medusas head to turn it to stone. The last pearl was located at a hotel and casino in Las Vegas, the Lotus Casino. Once they reach the hotel they are constantly asked if they would like to try a Lotus flower. They take some and continue to eat them. The flowers kept them at the hotel for many days which gives them time to either find the lightning bolt or convince Zeus that he does not have it. With a little help from Percy's father they eventually escape the hotel with the pearl.
There are plenty of differences in the two books one being the fact that the people that want Percy dead are monsters but the people who want Katniss dead are monsters on the inside. Percy has powers so, yeah
