Conspiracy theories are everywhere. It seems that for every event in to have taken place in history, there is a group of individuals saying that it is a government conspiracy. There are conspiracy theories regarding the 9/11 attacks, presidential assassinations, Area 51, Jimmy Hoffa, the English crown and Elvis. The list is endless. In this paper we are going to discuss the moon landing conspiracy. Apparently there are people who believe the entire moon landing was a hoax. They believe that we did not actually land on the moon, but produced the event in a movie studio so that we would be able to beat Russia in the great “Space Race”. These people have taken all the evidence from the moon landing and analyzed ever aspect and tried to …show more content…
Conspiracy theorists have also argued that there should have been a freshly gouged crater where the lunar module’s descent engine blasted into the lunar soil. However Bizony rebuffs this myth by explaining that the powdery lunar soil was disturbed by the downward pointing jet of the exhaust, but the thrust was not enough to create a crater in the topsoil, much less even be able to penetrate the hard rocky substrate (Bizony, It was all a fake, right?, 2009). The website, moonlandinghoax.org explains that the lunar module had six-foot long landing probes under the foot pads and when they registered contact the engines would stop firing and the module would fall gently the rest of the way (Moon landing hoax). Since the engines stopped firing approximately six feet before landing, there was not enough blast pressure to create a crater. The article stated that a firecracker would have more power than the engines did after they ceased to fire (Moon landing hoax). The conspiracy theorists have even gone as far to say that NASA even murdered astronauts in order to help keep this monumental hoax a secret. One of these instances included the accidental deaths of three astronauts; Ed White, Roger Chaffee, and Guss Grissom; that died in a fire while testing an Apollo spacecraft (Moon landing hoax). After the fire, investigations went on and it was determined that the fire was attributed to a wide range of lethal design and construction flaws in the
Maggie Koerth Baker’s piece titled Why rational people buy into conspiracy theories represents the reasons why rational people believe in conspiracy theories. Throughout the article Baker tries to explain the reasons behind the belief of conspiracy theories supported by research and evidence. This paper will review Baker’s article as well as her main arguments, will evaluate the quality of Baker’s writing and focus on any areas of weakness within the article.
John F. Kennedy once said, "No nation which expects to be the leader of other nations can expect to stay behind in this race for space...We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard”. The main motive for this quote was to ensure that the United States wanted to beat out the Soviets in the space race. Ever since the Soviets tried to advance on the moon, the United States wanted to be the first successful nation to accomplish the first ever moon landing. At the time, the tension between the United States and the Soviets was very strong because the Cold War just ended and neither nation wanted to lose to each other in the space race. Just as the
They found little to no evidence that an airline impacted the pentagon. How does a plane, which is 124 feet wide, and 44 feet high at its tail section, fit into such a small hole at the Pentagon (16 feet) and leave no signs of wreckage on the lawn?
Was the Moon landing real or a hoax? The moon landing was a major scientific breakthrough and a great day for America. The problem is, it might’ve been faked. There are many pieces of evidence showing that it could have been faked but there is also evidence showing that the moon landing could have also been real. I believe that the moon landing was not a hoax. The flag was blowing in the wind but how was it supposed to stop if there is no friction on the moon? The astronauts' shadows don’t match the lunar light source because there was a matte box on the camera . That there were absolutely no stars in the sky because the pictures were taken during the day.
Many people believe the moon landing never happened. The number one belief is that the photographic evidence is fake. The astronauts took thousands of pictures, each one perfectly exposed and sharply focused. Not one was badly composed or even blurred. In particular, there is one photo that is often mentioned, the photo of Neil Armstrong putting the American flag into the moon. The strange thing about this photo is that the flag is waving like it’s in the wind. “The obvious problem here is that there’s no air in the moon’s atmosphere, and therefore no wind to cause the flag to blow.” (Josh Fox, 2012). Theorists state that since the moon has no atmosphere, so if it was really on the moon there is no way the flag couldn't be waving
The Moon landings during the 1960’s and 1970’s were the largest world events at the time. Millions of people tuned in to watch them, but many believe that the events never even took place. For decades conspiracy theorists have been trying to solve the case, believing the Moon landing to be a total hoax. Statistics show that Americans between 18-24 years old are the largest percentage that believes the Moon landings did not occur (Why do People Persist in Denying the Moon Landings?). For those who do not believe in the Moon landings, Apollo 17 astronaut Harrison Schmitt says, “If people decide they’re going to deny the facts of history and the facts of science and technology, there’s not much you can do with them.
The Air Force investigated the incident by sending soldiers onto the rancher’s land. They too discovered additional mysterious debris, they gathered it up and took it away when they left the ranch. Four days later, the Air Force announced that a Flying Saucer had landed, then one they changed their story and said that a weather balloon had crashed. The surrounding community did not believe this to be true, and neither did the rest of the people in the nation. Americans alike, were not satisfied with these findings. They believed the government was trying to cover something

Many accomplishments throughout the years, in the United States have formed our country to a nationalist society. On July 20th, 1969, the Mission Control Center in Houston, Texas received the call, “Houston”, which confirmed the landing of these three astronauts on the moon. Recently though, many discussions of the Apollo 11 mission have astonished thoughts of many Americans. Conspiracy theorists are looking at the Moon Landing as a hoax and one big set up that Americans were fooled into believing actually happened. In 1974, Bill Kasying wrote a book entitled We Never Went to the Moon:
Conspiracy theories have been around since the beginning of time. When NASA sent the first landed on the moon, there are people who believed that NASA faked the moon landings. Men, such as Bill Kaysing, the Flat Earth Society, and Davie Groves, and Bart Sibrel, have written books, delivered lectures, and made videos about why they believed NASA faked the moon landings. Based on their observations which include no stars in their pictures, NASA's drive to beat the Russians to the moon, and a way to distract people from the Vietnam war, the group believes that the moon landings were faked.
It wasn 't until I really sat down and thought about it that I realized the moon landing was questionable. As a kid I always thought it would be amazing to be an astronaut so the thought that maybe there is no real astronauts at all had me concerned. On July 20th 1969, the Apollo 11 with astronaut Neil Armstrong and his crew, guided by thousands of NASA technicians, supposedly landed in the surface of the moon. This landing at its time was considered the most amazing technological advancement in the history of mankind. The moon landing is something that everyone knows about but as it turns out about 20% americans and 50% or Ukrainians don 't believe the moon landing really happened, here 's why.
There is physical evidence that can prove on how the moon landing is a hoax. One of the popular evidences that it is a hoax is that in the videos and pictures of the men on the moon, in the distance of space there is absolutely no stars in sight. “The photographs on the moon don't show any stars in the sky,” (5 Goofy Moon landing Hoax Theories, 2017 p.30). That is why a lot of people believed this was faked and filmed in a studio. The second piece of physical evidence is how when they stuck the American flag in the ground it was waving like there is wind in space. “There's no wind on the moon, so how come the flag was blowing in a breeze?” (5 Goofy Moon landing Hoax Theories, 2017 p.30). On the moon there is no atmosphere like here on earth so there can't be any reasonable explanation as to why the flags moving but NASA has tried. The final part of my physical evidence is one of the most famous. In a picture from the astronauts there is a moon rock
The Apollo 11 mission of 1969 marks the biggest leap in technological advancements for humanity. Neil Armstrong is seen taking the first steps on the moon forever making his mark in humanity. However, theories surrounding the moon landing have come to light. Conspiracy theorists say NASA, the National Aeronautics Space Administration, have faked the Apollo 11 moon landing. Yet, present evidence can support the authenticity of the moon landing. Evidence such as photos, rock samples, technology, and computer monitoring support the moon landing. The moon landing of 1969 did happen.
In conclusion, one who reads this can clearly see that, by these terms, there is clear evidence that we did in fact walk on the moon. The exact evidence of the mineral makeup of Moon Rocks is convicting and practical evidence. Also, there is the common sense part. If the United States didn?t go to the moon, and produced fake moon rocks, Russian scientists would have a say about it, saying as though we went to the moon at the height of the cold war, and produced Moon Rocks that could be tested by any scientist.
Now, do you need anymore evidence on how the moon landing was hoax, maybe from a source you can trust? Well you can find that source at science.howstuffworks.com. In the article, “Why do some people believe the moon landings were a hoax?” you can find the evidence. This article resembles that of what was stated in the last paragraph. Some topics reasons are the same as well. A new one is the difference in shadow lengths. “Some people point out that some of the shadows given off by the
