The Ming and Ottoman Empires arose after the Mongols in the mid-14th century. These two empires undertook massive renovation. Although there were some broad, common goals in their re-building, the Ming focused inward, while the Ottoman focused outward in building their empires, which reflected in their trading techniques. The Ming dynasty focused on internal trade and restricted external trade; the Ottomans however, mainly focused on external trade rather than internal. Trading across the ocean led to the Ottoman Empire becoming tolerant of ethnic religious minorities due to their large landmass, whereas the Ming dynasty’s geography caused them to become isolated, therefore leading them to become selective of their treatment towards ethnic

During their time period the Ottoman Empire and the Ming dynasty were two powerful states, they both had a view of itself and its place in the world. Although they were both significantly powerful the Ottoman Empire was superior compared to the Ming Dynasty. Important aspects of their states such as religion and trade played a role in both States, but in a long run had a greater impact the Ottoman Empire, for they were much more powerful than the Ming Dynasty.

The post-classical era in history (600CE- 1250CE) saw the rise and fall of many great empires. In the early part of the era, the Islamic Caliphates acted as a core region in the Middle East, heavily influencing the region around them. On the other side of the world, the Aztec Empire rose to power in the later part of the era with minimal trans-regional influence. Although on different sides of the world, both empires found similar ways to adapt to their diverse environments. In the post-classical era, the rise of the Islamic Caliphates and the Aztec Empire were similar in that they established cohesion through their respective cultures and used military conquest to come to power. Although there are similarities in the rise of power in the Caliphates and the Aztec Empire, there is a difference in the speed of expansion given that the Caliphates were located in a central trading region while the Aztec Empire was not.

The Ottoman Empire and the Qing Dynasty both had their chance at being a world superpower in the eighteenth and nineteenth century. Like all empires, there were times of prosperity and times of despair. In 1908 and 1912, the Ottoman Empire and Qing Dynasty began to deteriorate, losing their dominance over other rising dominions through internal and external conflicts. Although both powers had similar patters of decline, it was the differences that distinguished the fall of the Ottomans in the west and the Qing in the east.

As these empires started expanding they gained new things. They gained new land, goods, services, people, food, animals, and more. With these things the empires became stronger and more powerful. They gained animals such as the Turkey. They gained foods like sweet potatoes, avocados, squash, pineapples, peppers, cassava, cocao beans, peanuts, potatoes, tomatoes, corn, beans, and vanilla. With more options of food it was easier to get food making it easier to things instead of worrying about getting food. They also exported food which was good for their economy. With gaining this they gained more power. This gaining of power was something all empires wanted, this is why they built their

People, places, and/or things come and go, changing from one thing to another or none at all. In other cases, it is just not people, places, and/or things, it can also be generations or empires. Empires are known to adopt similar traditions or beliefs from other empires. In addition, some empires have similar, but slightly different laws and/or goals. Two of the empires that were similar, but different is many ways are the Ottoman and Mughal Empires.

The decline of the Mongol Empire laid ground for the Ottoman, Safavid, and Mughal empires. These three empires all had military strength, Sovereign Pride, Religious commitment, and Aesthetic sophistication in common to varying degrees. The Safavid and Ottoman empires are usually compared because of the wars that broke out between them and their similar attributes. However, this will be a comparison of the Safavid and Mughal Empires.

The Ottoman, Safavid, and Mughals were all gunpowder empires. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast the differences between all of these empires mentioned. Each fall into five different categories.

The Ottoman, Safavid, and Mughal societies all relied on bureaucracies that drew inspiration from the steppe traditions of Turkish and Mogol people and from the heritage of Islam, they adopted similar policies, they looked for ways to keep peace in their societies which were made up of different religious and ethnic backgrounds, and they were associated with literary and artistic talents. Since the beginning, all empires have faced change in many ways, declining and rising in status. Many empires have collapsed, only to start again under a different name. Like all empires, the three Muslim Empires, the Ottomans, Safavids, and Mughals have faced this inevitable state. Although each individual empire is different, they each have similarities in their reasons for decline. Whether it is social, religious, economic, or political reasons, the empires, like many others, have fallen.

In this week’s chapter, it discusses a lot about the rise and fall of the Ottoman and Safavid Empires. In many dynasties, it is critically important to have a well balanced society and economy. Anderson displays many of the reasons why these two empires were so great during their time, but evidently loss of power and control of government can be a major turning point and, eventually, led to the decline of these empires. This specific chapter focus on the systems of governance that was established in each empire.

The rise of the Ottoman Empire started in Turkey and spread through most of the Middle East. Their military practice and successful transition to the use of gun powder made them one of the most successful ruling bodies in the Middle East. The Ottoman Empire which ruled until modern times had great influence on the Middle Eastern world. Their political and economic abilities astonished the western world. Their religious views and fears were instilled into any non-Muslim and helped the western world to find new trade.
