Executive Summary
The focus of the project you’re about to read is on the recently phone hacking scandal of famous UK News agency, - The News of The World. The report include a brief explanation of what has happened based on pre-selected online articles, analysis of the scandal from Business Ethics point of view by using various CSR theories discussed during the CSR course in period four and provides conclusion and recommendations on what could have been done.

With its paparazzi style and delivering personalized news, the paper was selling over 2 million copies on weekly basis up until 2010.
Though the phone hacking allegations started back in 2006, accusations reached to its top level on the 4th of July 2011, when it was revealed that the newspaper staff had intercepted and deleted the voicemail of missing British teenager Milly Dowler, who was later found murdered. As a result of the intense allegations News International announced the closure of the newspaper on July the 7th 2011. However the scandal did not just end there by closing the company, it got deepened as the investigations got intensive. The most horrible news was that the company had hacked the phones of the British service personnel killed in action, their families, people who died during 9/11 and their families.
However ethical dilemmas do not just end by the phone hacking scandal, but also secondary dilemma starts with the speech of the owner of the News Corp. Due to the results of the Leveson inquiry, much has changed for the ways in which the British Press must work within the parameters of Media law. The inquiry has left much of the public untrusting and suspicious of journalism as a practice, and after the publishing of Leveson’s report, it is as though they are just waiting for another slip-up by media institutions.
Under this task I will explain the ethical issues that business needs to consider in its operating activities and how a business they could improve the ethical of their operations and also I will evaluate the influence of stakeholders exert in one company.

Adam Penenberg who was an editor for the online magazine, Forbes Digital Tool tried to investigate the scandal and was contacted by Stephen Glass. Many of those incidents didn’t stay secretly for long due to the change to modern day media. In this paper we have compiled together a few of those scandals to compose a writing discussing different cases of corruption and scandals within the government.

The first reason why I believe that this statement is completely wrong is that the company is not taking in account the whole picture of the newspaper industry. Maybe, the reason why this new competing company appeared is to satisfy an emerging market that is not willing to pay a lot of a newspaper and on the contrary prefer cheaper ways of interaction besides the traditional ones. It is a fact nowadays that people have a more effective way of communication, which is social media, hence people don´t want to pay an expensive newspaper that will provide the same information that a cheaper and faster ways involving technology already had.
The problem to be investigated is the application of business ethics. In the business world, ethics are extremely important. The case study that was analyzed is, “Unauthorized Disclosure: Hewlett-Packard’s secret Surveillance of Directors and Journalists,” by Anne T. Lawrence, Randal D. Harris, and Sally Baack. The ethical issues presented through the case deal with Hewlett-Packard Company (HP). HP is a major international company in the computer and technology market. The company describes itself as a “technology solutions provider to consumers, business and institutions globally.” Their credo is called “HP way”, which focuses on points such as trust and respect for individuals, high level of achievement and contribution, business conduct with uncompromising integrity, objectives through teamwork, and encouragement of flexibility and innovation (Newman). The problems faced by HP’s board of directors were a lack of accountability with HP’s credo. If the “HP way” was followed by them, these ethical issues would be avoided.
