The situation that brought me from my first internship to the second one was frustrating and difficult. Nonetheless, it provided me with beneficial learning experiences for my career and life in general. One of the silver linings of interning at these two considerably different internship experiences was increasing my knowledge of two different types of business. The first of these areas was in the Non-Profit organization at PACS, where their mission is to empower individuals who are struggling. The nonprofit industry has always deeply interested me, and what I learned at PACS only fueled that interest. The time I spent at PACS was brief and ended abruptly. Nonetheless, I learned valuable and significant information and gained an understanding of the various business characteristics that are essential in nonprofit organizations.

Throughout my undergraduate career at the University of South Carolina, I continually found myself drawn to internship opportunities

My internship at UCLA California Teach involved an education seminar and volunteering experience. During the education seminar, I learned about classroom management, learning assessment, and curricular planning. I also worked closely with Lead teachers and other students to addressed different issues in the classroom in order to provide better education experience for the students.

An internship can also heighten the awareness of community issues, motivates to create opportunities, embrace new ideas, and give direction to positive change. A successful internship can provide valuable information in making decisions about the direction of future studies or employment. An internship is an opportunity to not only use and develop industry-related knowledge and skills, but also to enhance some of the skills that are transferable to any professional work setting. For some people, the internship is the first introduction to the world of work. No matter where the skills and understanding of professionalism lie, internship is a chance to develop them even further.

By doing this, young adults are able to better understand themselves and truly discover their unique identities. A career is a very important part of someone's life, so by exploring various fields, individuals are better able to come closer to finding their passion or "dream" job. An internship can also build valuable connections that can be utilized later in life. The world is filled with different kinds of people who can learn information in different ways. Many people can learn simply through being taught in a traditional classroom with the help from textbooks. Of course, there are many other ways to learn new material. However, I strongly feel that actually observing work and seeing all the angles of work being performed can be more beneficial to a person. Internships can help people or students see and learn what they could not in a traditional class setting. They can also give students a better understanding of what their future profession might involve. It is very difficult to learn concepts until a person is able to see or experience them for his or herself. I chose to undergo an internship at a chiropractic clinic because chiropractic is the profession that I am striving to reach in my future.

Facilities benefit from the opportunity to participate in and improve the formal education process. The internship was a channel to direct my passion for helping others; my supervisor assigned me numerous projects that involved communicating with community leaders. One project was a collaboration with the U.S. Probation Office to reduce recidivism, and it allowed me first hand encounter on how to create policies and procedures to promote community and individual growth. This insight has inspired me to attend law schools to influence legal policies. After the internship, I continued my involvement in the community outreach through the Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters and The Females' Center of Excellence & Leadership, Inc. by mentoring at-risk youths and providing learning opportunities to the youths.

One experience that made me glad that I did this internship is that I was really touched when a lady was saying goodbye to me after I drop her off at her home. She told me to take care of myself and to be a good girl. This experience touched me as someone I just met gave me some good blessing.

In order to better prepare myself for applying to graduate school and gaining as much experience as possible I will be dedicating Part II of my paper to researching multiple internships and job opportunities offered in the Baton Rouge area. I feel that, as a sophomore, finding work experience and varying the different internships and volunteer positions I undertake will help make me stand out during the application process.

Internships are becoming more and more popular with college students in today’s world. An internship is basically when a student in college goes to a company or business and works while they are still enrolled in school and still getting academic credit. The main purpose of the internship is for the student to gain valuable on the job work experience. But there are also other things that a student can get from internships. Internships help the student decide whether or not this line of work is correct for them. Since the student works in an occupation in which they are highly interested in it really helps
