For a kid that usually beats up a lot of people (not anymore), it would be hard to get friends. This is because everyone would be scared of you. Also almost every else has friends in the school, even if they don`t know it (Mouth). Throughout the book Wesley and Scott started to become friends and by the end of the book Wesley had two good friends (people that were not scared of him), and in this quote you will see that, “ I can`t long because Wesley and Lee are waiting for me downstairs. We are going out for pizza.” (Lubar page 277). For you that do not know this was taken out of Scott's journal, and Scott was writing this. As you can see Wesley had Scott and Lee as two good friends and this could have been hard for him to do. Read to see why some other people think that characters have changed, and why they are
was deeply in love with her. It was then discovered that she loved him as well; this displayed one of Wesley’s characteristics. Wesley has a lot of pride, and he felt the needed to earn Buttercup the lifestyle that, in his opinion, she deserved. When he appeared in the movie again, he had developed a different set of characteristics. He was very cunning in the ways that he outsmarted the men who had kidnapped Buttercup. He also changed the representation of himself as being the Man in Black/ Dread Pirate Roberts. While he was taking Buttercup away from Prince Humperdinck, he shows bravery as they go into the fire swamp, which are full of dangerous creatures. He is very protective of Buttercup throughout the story, and is willing to sacrifice himself for her. Also, Wesley believes strongly in true love, and that is a motivating factor in a majority of his decisions. One of these situations was when Wesley survived being murdered by Prince Humperdinck. In comparison to
In this report, I will be summarizing the book, Lying on the Couch by Irvin D. Yalom. I will also be giving my personal opinions on this book and its ethical implications. In addition, I will be giving examples from National Association of Social Workers code of ethics, National Association for Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Counselors, and National Human Services ethics and how they were violated in this story by the characters. I will also touch on the importance of self-care and creating clear boundaries in the helping profession.
When High School comes around, everyone goes through changes to their life. In Sleeping Freshman Never Lie there is a boy named Scott who is starting high school, and goes through many changes with his friends, family, and life. He meets up with his friends from middle school in the beginning of the year, but soon meets new people and has new friends, in this book many of the characters change and experience some of the same things as Scott. This book is a journey through his high school experience, and all the changes that happen in his life during his freshman year of high school. Wesley changed the most in Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie because he switched from being mean to a nice guy, and
Wesley is also a new friend Scott gains and is an upperclassmen (not a freshmen). He’s strong and intimidating even keeping Vernon from beating up Scott at one point. He started out as a bit of a bully, but is surprisingly much friendlier than expected.
Changing from beating people up and stealing their money, to being their friend, is one of the biggest changes that can be made. In the book Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie, the character that changed the most, was named Wesley Cobble. Wesley changed the most for multiple reasons. One of the reasons is that at the beginning of the book, Wesley stole money from Scott and other kids. But later on, Wesley stops stealing people’s money, and even becomes friends with Scott!

Perhaps the most obvious difference in their challenges was that the other Wes lacked positive role models in his life. While the author Wes had the role models of both his grandparents and fellow students at military school, the other Wes only had Tony, his drug dealing brother, to look up to. This can be seen by Wes’s motto, given to him by Tony, “Rule number one: If someone disrespects you, you send a message so fierce that they won’t have the chance to do it again,” (33). This motto played a role in the poor choices that Wes made, especially those involved with violence. Whenever Wes made the choice to either physically attack someone or attack someone with a weapon, the motto ‘send a message’ was mentioned. Tony’s negative impact on Wes affected him by allowing Wes to justify his actions and choices by saying that he was ‘sending a message’. In addition to this, despite Tony’s efforts to keep Wes out of the drug game, Wes was involved in the drug game before his teenage years. His choice to become involved in the drug game led to a crime-filled life, in which “getting arrested was starting to feel routine,” (114). This apathy towards getting arrested exemplifies Wes’s bad choices and the impact they have on his
As he got new friends, and went to a completely different school then he was used to, his personality starts to change. He does not know how to act because the two worlds of his home and school life are two completely different environments. For example on page 53 of the book, Wes says “ I was becoming too “rich” for the kids from my neighborhood and too “poor” for the kids at school. I had forgotten how to act naturally, thinking way too much in one situation and getting tangled in the contradictions. My confidence took a hit.” In this quote, you’re able to see how his two worlds between his home life and his school life are really impacting him. He can’t decide how to act, in fear that he won’t be able to fit in with any of the kids. Wes’ role models like his older brother, Tony, are a big external factor because Wes looks up to Tony and wants to be like him. Even though Tony wishes more
After following the robbery story, Wes wrote a letter to the other Wes, who was now serving life in prison. Basically Wes just asked questions that the other Wes was hoping he wouldn’t ask. This letter led to a long lasting relationship. After a few more letters and prison visits, Wes realized how both their lifestyles were different. Both grew up in similar neighborhoods, same childhood troubles and faced with similar moments that decisions had to be
From this description, it is obvious that Wesley surrenders and caters his father’s wish accepting everything his father requires him to do: like to be a sheriff, which even is a struggling occupation for him. The job “Sheriff” likes a burden for him but he still chooses it because the job is what his father designates to him, and until Frank dies, after he moves out of Montana, gets rid of his father’s control, to the extent, he dismantles his suffering a little from his father’s autocracy.
This showed how much she changed because she was considered to be a bad lady or evil. Finally another person that changed in the book was Freak, he went from a know it all child to a young caring person. Before Freak met Max he would walk around always correcting people and never thinking twice about it. But in the end of the book he learns what boundaries are, and thinks about how what he says will affect others and how it will make them feel. These were a few examples of change in the
According to Oxford’s dictionary, deception is the use of trickery or cheating to deliberately cause (someone) to believe something that is not true, especially for personal gain. But many people seldom lie to others for no reason at all, so there is a motivation, a lasting feeling to pressure them in wanting to do that and a lasting impact. Throughout Chandler’s The Big Sleep and Ford’s The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, there is a direct link to the theme of motivation to the ultimate impact to deceive others where characters deceive for the greater good, personal gain and to strengthening relationships.
