In the grand scheme of the Creation of the Lord lies a very interesting, detailed, and in-depth culmination of personality in human beings. God created each and every human being to be different, in their own regard, each having their own distinct personality. The uniqueness in which one can find a person’s temperament is almost astounding- as no personality is like another. Each personality contains traits specific and true to the person and not the type. Not only this, but each person defines who they are by the way they deal with outside influences and internal conflict. As each human being is privileged by God to be able to create their own personalities for themselves, they often falter when they choose to do something wrong, as it can affect their personality based on the consequences they undergo. The Myers-Briggs personality types are sixteen in number. Each type covers a very general area of temperament in a human being and it allows people to do their best and try to understand the motives and behaviors of that specific person (Truity.com). This particular approach to personality types is a way to take a deeper look into the behavioral and moral makeup of the person as it allows intricate study of emotion and motives that are driven by those emotions. It is quite entertaining to research facts about a type that pertain to one’s self as they quickly find out the shocking accuracy it poses (Cook, 205). The one problem about these personality types and tests is
4. Describe the eight preferences of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. How does this instrument measure Carl Jung‘s ideas?
Studies have been done that resulted in the development of several different personality tests that would indicate a person’s primary traits and characteristics. Jung’s work on psychological types based a person’s personality on eight different preferences. Myers and Briggs further developed Jung’s work and developed a combination of these preferences resulting in 16 different personality types that would indicate how a person perceives themselves and their awareness of other things, people or ideas. These preferences include orientations of energy (extroversion, E and introversion, I), processes of perception (sensing, S and intuition, N), processes of judging (thinking, T and feeling, F) and attitudes towards dealing with the outside world (perceiving, P and judging, J) (as cited in Hautala, 2006).
The Myers and Briggs Analysis is a series of questions that when answered are examined and grouped together in order to determine the personalities of those taking this test. This particular test can result in sixteen different outcomes or types of personalities, which is determined by four different categories that judge if you are introverted or extroverted, use your senses or your intuition, your choice to think or use your feelings, and finally if you are judgmental or perceptive. These series of questions are designed to judge our personalities and help us to determine which career pathways we will be most suited for based on our personality traits and abilities to work well with others, which is important
Everybody has his or her own type of personality. We all act in a certain way that makes us who we are. It is believed that our parents, peers and, the environment we grow up in, shape us. Personality is describes as a combination of emotions, attitude, and behavioral patterns of an individual. There is a reason that we are the way we are and there are many theories that go along with that. Different theorist present their own definitions of the word personality based on their own theoretical positions. Which brings us to discussing Carl Jung’s theory of analytical psychology and Harry
Although this was not the first personality assessment that I?ve completed, after reading this week?s study material, I can honestly say that I have gained a more expansive understanding and perspective on the subject. First, I had not considered the correlation between our covenant with God and the responsibility that we should maintain a similar engagement with one another on a day-to-day basis (Presentation: Lesson 1 ? A Worldview Perspective on Organizational Behavior, 2012). While I knew that our personality type could provide context to how we
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) “is an introspective self-report questionnaire designed to indicate psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions” (13). It is one of several personality assessments that is popular among modern mental health experts throughout the world. Currently, it is estimated that the MBTI is “taken by more than two million people per year and is translated into 16 languages (10). “The purpose of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator personality inventory is to make the theory of psychological types described by C. G. Jung understandable and useful in people 's lives” (4).
During the power point on the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, as the instructor went through the different types of personalities, I was able to recognize which subcategories I fall into almost instantly. When my computer personality test results were returned, I was correct. As I read the type descriptions of Extroversion, Intuition, Feeling, and Judging- ENFJ- I quickly recognized myself within the descriptive words.
The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) enables an individual to gain a deeper insight into their inherent personality traits. For some people, they have had prior knowledge or underlying assumptions about their personality, but this test provides clearer information about each of their identifiable traits. According to the MBTI in Human-metric personality test, my scores were 22% (E) extroverted thinking more than introverted, 9% (N) intuitive as oppose to sensing, 16% (T) thinking more than feeling, and 12% (J) judging as compared to perceiving. Thus, my personality type is ENFJ. The ENFJ personality group is described as a minority group that consists of natural-born leaders, and people filled with passion, and charisma for example, Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey; they are notable members of this group, also known as the protagonists (16personalities, 2016). The protagonists apprehend pride in providing guidance for others to improve individually and to improve the community at large (16personalities, 2016). The protagonists find it naturally easy to communicate with others and excel at communicating with other people in person (16personalities, 2016).
The personality assessment inventory tests provide results on my individual personality, values, motivation, decision making, communication, team skills, conflict skills, organizational structure preference, and stress. These results are broken down briefly in three parts and do not include any personal speculation or analysis as to their meaning. The application of these results are further applied and explains how the results noted from the tests and in the first step will make me a better employee, co-worker, and manager within my organization. These tests mentioned above are applied in conjunction with particular examples on how I can achieve becoming a better employee, co-worker, and manager. An explanation of how my personality and experiences were affected by the Holy Spirit is also discussed. Particularly, how potential weaknesses have become strengths with the guidance of the Lord.
What is a personality type? A personality type is an acronym given to someone after taking one of many tests either in person or online. That acronym is only limited to sixteen combinations, like “ENFJ” or “ISTP”. Each letter in that acronym means something, like “E” is for extrovert, or “J” is for judging. There are also pairs of letters, called temperaments, that describe how you function based on those two letters alone. Earlier, I mentioned “ENFJ”, that is my results for the test that I took online at “16 Personalities”, the Myers-Briggs test, or “HumanMetrics”, three reputable test taking sources. But that is not the only personality type in my life, there is my respite provider,
Human nature, the essence of what makes a human person what they are, is something that everybody has. Every person is innately a person, but how they put their personhood into action is the biggest indicator of their character, or the projection of a person’s human nature. At their core there is human nature, but their actions are what direct this source of humanity. The quality of someone’s actions is shaped by their environment and sometimes their biological makeup as well. Human nature does not have good or evil characteristics. It is how a person thinks and acts that is the true factor in the shaping of their character.
Based on the work of Carl Jung, Isabel Myers and Katherine Briggs developed the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator, a self-inventory geared toward helping individuals determine their personality types and individual areas of strength. “By helping people understand themselves, Myers and Briggs believed that they could help people select occupations that were best suited to their personality types and lead healthier, happier lives” (Cherry, 2015). This test, through helping me explore my own personality, likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, and various preferences and compatibilities, has been instrumental in affirming my
Everyone has a different personality that determines their patterns of behavior, thoughts, and feelings. Myers Briggs have determined that there are sixteen different personalities among people. Upon completing the short questionnaire, I have been assigned the logistician, or ISTJ, personality type. In the past, I have completed other personality tests when I was trying to decide on a major that most fit me. These other quizzes also resulted in this personality classification.
Personality is a topic that has interested the human mind for millennia. As early as the fourth century BC, Aristotle was writing about the differences within individuals based on “determinants of moral and immoral behavior (Matthews & Deary),” which he identified as cowardice, vanity, and modesty. Aristotle’s student, Theophrastus, continued this thought process through a book detailing thirty personality traits, thus bringing forth the idea that an individual’s personality could be broken down into smaller, more manageable parts that could then be studied individually in order to better understand what makes humans unique.
Personality is something that humans take pride in having. Being that it is one of the most difficult things for researchers to study due to its complexity and its habit of changing, but for everyone else, it can be carried around with ease. Sometimes it is treated like an accessory, something that is shown off or it inspected by other people. Personality is also how one person is described to another. Being the social creatures that humans are, being able to describe people to each other requires the entirety of a personality to be subdivided into specific tendencies that a person may have. The subdivision of person’s personality leaves cracks in how it is understood, but it allows people able to more efficiently describe personality as well as study it.
