Cultural diversity has added to our economy in such a way that it brings innovated ideas and contact structures throughout the world. International cuisines have come to America through subcultures, have expanded the food industry, and have allowed English Americans to try new foods and flavors. Immigrants have brought with them religious values that greatly differ and vary from those at which were natural in the main stream American culture. The educational development through foreign nationals has led America, as a nation, to excel and be deemed one of the most intelligent nations in the world! The US takes about 70000 refugees a year from all over the world, and I was one of the many refugees that were living in place that was isolated place in Ethiopia. When I first knew that I am going to US, I was enchanted that I am going to have a prosperous future. I was also happy that I am going to have all the freedom that any human being wants to have. Additionally, I was delighted that I am going to meet my family after so many years of separation. Migrating to US is the best thing that ever happen to me at least for the first couple of years, however, my expectations were diminished when I experienced life is not easy or apparent like I expected it to be.

U.S. as an immigration country, has a long history of immigration. It is a complex demographic phenomenon that has been a major source of population growth and cultural change of the United States. People came here because of varies reason, the major reason among them are fleeing crop failure, land and job shortage, rising taxes, and famine. Nearly 12 million people immigrate to the United States between 1870 and 1900, making it the world largest immigrate country.

Today, the United States is a large country with a diverse population that creates a truly unique culture. The U.S. began as 13 small colonies on the Atlantic coast of North America. From there, the U.S. expanded westward to the Pacific coast, and beyond. The reason the westward expansion is such a large part of the American culture is because the expansion gave the U.S. four large borders that allowed easy immigration from almost anywhere in the world.

The United States is one of the most culturally diverse countries and when it comes to the healthcare system, the diversity becomes even more challenging. It is necessary for healthcare providers to be open and educated on the beliefs and values of other countries, not only to show respect but also to obey the patients’ civil rights. For instance, Japanese believes it is important for them to be in the right state of mind before death. Instead of receiving pain medication or any other type of analgesic, mediation and peace and quiet is what they prefer. It is important for health care providers to tend to a patients’ spiritualities because as in Japan, their are religious goals that have to be met when dying in order for the patient to

However, as a nation got a lot of races, there are some public opinion about a sense of national identity. Some say they will lose their identity, and some say not. But, in spite of doubt on the stability of identity, they will have an identity even in the next generation. In the United States, the Americas identity has evolved and will continue to evolve into the 21st century and beyond.

“A simple way to take measure of a country is to look how many want in and how many want out”. Most countries in the world wide perform a census every 10 years to know how many people live there. The Unites States of America is a country where diverse people from different places live, they include the refugees, lawful permanent residents, and the U.S citizens.

I decided to do my cross cultural report on The United States, Washington DC in relations to London England. The topic that I have chosen is Mental Healthcare. I have often witnessed our mental health people in Washington DC and believed enough has not been done in the to rectify this problem especially the youth. First let’s examine The United States Mental healthcare system and then London England. We will discuss the developmental domains of both countries, the laws and practices, attitudes as well as cultural influences. We will also point out some key differences and similarities between the two countries.

The United States of America is, “a nation of immigrants” as John F. Kennedy called it. Apart from the Native American ancestry, all others trace their culture back to somewhere else (Soerens, M. 2013). In my opinion, the U.S has increasing rate of immigrants, than any other country. It is also successful in providing facilities like education, employment and various career opportunities for global immigrants even today.

The United States is commonly know as a melting pot of nations, in which people from around the world have emigrated to form a homogeneous yet varied culture. Although we come from different ethnic groups, we are usually bound together through our common English language. This becomes an issue, however, when immigrants are not familiar with English and American culture, and instead attempt to keep their own heritage alive. They are often torn between identities through language, the one they speak at home which they are familiar with, and the one they must adhere to in public. This often leads to struggle and conflict on both sides, dealing with different cultures and how people react when assimilation occurs. Because of this, living in the United States often requires us to completely accept only one identity, even though hints of the other may spill over at times.

The United States of America commonly referred to as USA is a federal republic, comprising of 50 different states, Washington, D.C being its federal district. America stands at 3.8 million square miles with a population of over 320 million making it the fourth largest land area. This populous nation also ranks among the most culturally and ethnically diverse nation due to a high number of immigrants from various countries. Its vast land occupancy brings in a cocktail of different climatic zones that support varieties of wildlife. America is a developed country endowed with natural resources and a large productive workforce making it the world’s largest economy. The country thrives by being the world’s largest manufacturer of products. The diverse population hosted by America brings in cultural differences bringing in the question of blending in of minority populations such as African American, Asian Pacific American, American Indian, and Hispanics who mainly contrast with mainstream American culture.
