Overview of company Tesco is the British’s leading food retailer and the third largest supermarket in the world which stock groceries and a much smaller range of non-food goods. It was established in 1919 by Jack Cohen in London and became a familiar feature of most UK high streets. Tesco provides the widest range of food of any retailer in the UK (Tesco 2015). Tesco is stated to be a leading global brand which is clearly illustrated by its expansion of operations into 12 countries including China, Czech Republic, India, Malaysia, Ireland, Hungary and Poland. This level of success does not happen by chance. Tesco’s leaders have always a high standards and clear goals. Moreover, leaders put customers, communities and employees as a heart of the organisation that has to consider through delivering a great shopping experience for every customer and generating the satisfaction for employees in workplace (Tesco 2015). This report investigates the different stakeholders involved in influencing the purpose of Britain’s largest retailer Tesco Plc, this will then be compared to Bonzers Farm, which is a successful local business providing fresh produce. In this report we will get to distinguish key stakeholders in both businesses, and their relevance and the part which the play within that business. I will then conclude my report by discussing conflicts of interest and the interdependencies with those stakeholders.
Tesco is a British multinational grocery and general merchandise retailer, it has stores in 14 countries across Asia, Europe and North America and is the grocery market leader in UK, where it has a market share of around 30%.
Tesco have been around from 1919 and has continued to grow and to expand ever since and is now a recognised brand nationally around the UK. Tesco was founded by Jack Cohen it originally started out with him behind a stall. The First Tesco store which opened was in 1929 in Burnt Oak in Middlesex. This expanded and became bigger by 1939 which led to over 100 Tesco stores across the country. Around the world there are 6,784 stores and Tesco have more than 500,000 employees all around the world which I am one of. From the 1990s Tesco’s became an international business of more than 3,200 stores. Tesco’s have become global white stores over 12 countries.
Also the managers are also stakeholders, because they cope the salaries and also the performance of Tesco. The standards of the business need to be achieved efficiently all the time in order to make sure Tesco be successful. The managers run the staff and make sure the name of the business is respectable by having good customer service. If they do not do their job properly, then something may could go wrong or not be able to make enough profit and in this way Tesco will not be efficient because of this the managers have a big importance on Tesco.

The statistics of the supermarket are extremely impressive with over 330,000 staff employed, being the third largest supermarket, over 16 million Clubcard users in the UK and it being said that one pound in every seven has been spent at Tesco. All of this used to just be a small stall in East London when it was created by Jack Cohen in 1919 simply selling groceries making a profit of just £1 on the first day. Five years later, Cohen purchased a shipment of tea and Tesco became a brand with its first store opening another five years later, in 1929, in North London. Tesco is now not only just a grocery store, it also sells petrol (becoming the largest independent petrol retailer in the UK), insurance, has its own bank, credit cards, loans along with products such as its own clothing line F&F, games consoles, televisions and sports equipment. However, in 2014 Tesco had a shocking downfall when it had been revealed that they had exaggerated their half-year profit forecast by a massive £250 million.
