A house should be a love of labor, not something that does everything for you. Although having everything done for you is nice, there is no satisfaction in it. Doing chores and keeping a clean house is fulfilling and can help children develop responsibility.
There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury, 1950 is an exceptional example of “A true piece of writing.” Therefore, it must be thoroughly developed and ingeniously provocative; furthermore, the text shows real emotive language to describe its realistic and stylistic themes which can potentially change the readers mind state on the topic of the text.
Technology is both a blessing and a curse. It can make the lives of people better or it can completely make everything inconvenient. Technology has gone from something that was once complex to something used on the daily. It, in fact, may be destroying and taking over society. This idea is proposed in both “By the Waters of Babylon” by Stephen Vincent Benet and “There Will Come Soft Rains” by Ray Bradbury. Bradbury, however, presents the most disturbing and cruel views on technology and society.
In the poem “There Will Come Soft Rains”, Sara Teasdale reveals the idea that humans are insignificant compared to nature. In the first few lines, the author describes the beauty of spring, “And frogs in the pools singing at night / And wild plum trees in tremulous white” (Teasdale, 3-4). Further on, Teasdale continues to remark the beauty of nature and how humans have no affect on it. Concluding to the end of the poem, it states, “And Spring herself when she woke at dawn, / Would scarcely know that we were gone” (Teasdale, 11-12). Here the author explicitly states that even if all humankind were to go extinct, it would have no affect on the general harmony of nature. Therefore expressing the idea that humans are insignificant to nature.
When looking through the years technology has benefitted society countless of ways. An example from the book would be the “seashells” that they have to put in their ears, which are basically bluetooth headsets that we have today. “And in her ears the little Seashells, the thimble radios tamped tight” (pg 10). This quote shows how the radio works and it’s helpful because being able to be hands free gives you the opportunity to do other things as well, and being able to multi-task. Looking at today's society there are countless benefits from technology some including medical advancements, research, and time management. A large one would be communication in the article it says; “Social media, texting, and long-distance phone calls has allowed us to contact with others from however far away we are from each other.
“The story of humankind and are relationship to the Earth may be seen as a continuing adventure or a tragedy shrouded in mystery. The choice is ours.”- Al Gore. The story of “August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains” by Ray Bradbury starts out that humans wanted to make the world more advanced. When the power is passed though, humans are destroyed. This leads to Mother Nature killing “the creation” through fire and then despair begins waiting to be filled by new life.“August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains” by Ray Bradbury explores the theme of despair that ends life and opens up a spot new life.

“‘Today is August 5, 2026, today is August 5, 20206, today is…’” (Bradbury 7). In Ray Bradbury’s short story, “There Will Come Soft Rain” The House is very high tech, efficient, and helpful. The story takes place in August, 2026; and shows what life could possibly be like if we do not take care of our enviroment.
Technology, is it a killer of our society, or does it give society life? In the movie WALL-E, the writers explore a futuristic universe where earth is no longer inhabited by humans because of over consumption. To survive, the remaining humans live in a utopian spaceship where everything is done for them by robots. In the short story “There Will Come Soft Rains,” a technologically advanced house fulfills the everyday needs and tasks of a futuristic family even after they are gone. Through their literary works, both Bradbury and Disney-Pixar demonstrate that technology can have both positive and negative effects on society.
In “There Will Come Soft Rains” Ray Bradbury suggests that technology is very destructive and dehumanizing. Bradbury shows this through talking about a house in the year 2026 that does everything for the humans that live in it. The house makes their food, cleans the dishes, cleans the house, and even reads to them. To some people this may sound like a good thing, but Bradburry shows how the house is not a human and it just is not the same. These are things people are meant to do and can have some meaning. Having a house doing nearly everything for you truly is dehumanizing. When he describes the houses jobs he makes them sound useless. The movements are useless because there are no people in the house, due to what Bradbury suggests was an atomic bomb by writing that the house was the only one not destroyed in a whole city, and there was a green radioactive glow throughout the city. Another way bradbury showed the house was destructive was when
Technology has created shortcuts in working and made tasks easier to accomplish. Technology may have caused our life to be faster but it made it easier also.
