Abstract
Café de Coral Holdings Limited (Café de Coral) and Fairwood Holdings Limited (Fairwood) are two large catering quick service chains in Hong Kong. Since the lifestyle of Hong Kong people is working day and night, more people prefer having meals in quick service restaurants due to long working hours. The financial performances for the year ended 31 March 2011 to 2013 will be compared by using their annual reports.
SWOT and marketing mix analysis will be applied to analyze the two different groups and to explore the differences between Café de Coral and Fairwood. Based on the analysis, recommendations for Café de Coral and Fairwood will be provided.
1.2 The background of Café de Coral Holdings Limited
Café de Coral Group was founded in 1968. The chairman of this group is Michael Chan. At the beginning, the group just operate Café de Coral quick service restaurant in Hong Kong. The group was successfully listed on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited in July 1986. The Stock code of group is 0341
The operations were throughout Macau, Mainland China 's Guangdong province, and the United States, Canada, etc. The Group has Café de Coral stores, Super Super Congee & Noodles stores, Oliver’s Super Sandwiches stores, 85°C, Taiwanese style bakery café, Mixian Sense and The Spaghetti House in Hong Kong. In China, the Group has Café de Coral stores in major delta cities and Eastern China, and Spaghetti House across Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Foshan and Zhongshan updated as at 31 March 2013. Also, the group has Manchu WOK restaurant chain in the US and Canada as at 31 March 2013.
