When trying to understand what Evangelism I think D.T. Niles may have been close to the mark when he said “Christianity is one beggar telling another beggar where to find food”. Change the word Christianity to Evangelism, beggar to the sinner, and food to Jesus and I believe you have possibly the easiest way to explain Evangelism simply by saying “Evangelism is one sinner telling another sinner where to find Christ. However, over the past years Evangelism has been in my opinion misconstrued with many other Christian words and trends. For instance, I would be willing to bet that if you asked Christians what is the first thing that they think of when they hear the word Evangelism most would respond with the name of and Evangelist such as Billy Graham, Charles Stanley or even Joel Olsten. Of course the word Evangelist has had the same problem that the word Evangelism has had in regards to losing the true intended meaning of the world. It seems that Christians now days have forgotten that all born again believers are Evangelist, not just those who show up in a small town with a tent, a band, and a sign that says revival. Every soul that becomes saved becomes a messenger of the good news. In fact, I believe with all my heart this is the exact message the Jesus was trying to convey in his followers when he gave the great commissioning in Matthew 28:18-20 NIV 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make
In their book, The Great Commission to Worship, Vernon Whaley and David Wheeler takes an in depth look at commandment from Jesus for His followers to go out and spread the Good News of salvation. Today’s Christian seems to have a misconception about their role in evangelism. As the authors stated, “many times in Scripture it appears

Evangelism is described as a three-way cord; building relationships, sharing the gospel, and introducing people to community. The authors encourage the Gospel and the Word to stay central, as well as community involvement and helping the needy in the name of Christ. There is a great emphasis on home groups (the authors are themselves home-group leaders), and how this practice makes church planting easier. The togetherness of this practice aids in ones spiritual growth because one cannot become holy on his

Evangelism is a passion of mine and this semester has helped me to develop more as a person and strengthen my passion for evangelism. Usually when you hear the word Evangelism most of the time, you will start to fear because of rejection. During my Christian walk, sometimes I have experienced the fear of rejection as it relates to Evangelism. However, this semester has taught me not to fear." Evangelism is standing up for your faith even if everyone else remains seated 1(Earley and Wheeler
.... An evangelist is a proclaimer of the message of God’s love and grace in Jesus Christ and of the necessity of repentance and faith (Dayton and Strong 54 -55). The distinction between evangelism and social concern, with the prioritization of the former was typical of mid- to late-twentieth-century evangelicalism. Another example, the chapter on Jonathan Blanchard, he wrote, “still seeking a perfect state of society’ and a college ‘for Christ and his Kingdom” (Dayton and Strong 56). This statement is perfectly encapsulates Blanchard’s philosophy of social reform. Blanchard also said, “Society is perfect where what is right in theory exists in fact; where Practice coincides with Principle, and the Law of God is the Law of the Land” (Dayton and Strong 56). The perfect state of society is nothing less than the kingdom of God. Just as Jesus preached the perfect state of society, so must every Christian minister: “every true minister of Christ is a universal reformer, whose business it is, so far as possible, to reform all the evils which press on human concerns” (Dayton and Strong 56). Today, few would use the word evangelical inclusively with words like civil rights advocate, feminist, and peace
• Is Servant Evangelism risky usually providing only trained believers the opportunity to reach out to others?
Evangelism Explosion was designed to get the whole church working in community outreach through a training program and continually regenerating by teaching new members as they come into the Church. According to Dr. D James Kennedy in his book Evangelism Explosion, it is putting the laity to work. This putting the laity to work is one of the biggest advantages of the Evangelism Explosion as the church goes out it gains new members and they in turn go out the results is exponential growth. One of the disadvantages is the fact that the presentation can be unassuming and fails to present the Gospel with real conviction of sin and its ultimate punishment.
Program of Evangelism is the life blood of any organization. It is the communication of the gospel of
Randy Newman’s book, Questioning Evangelism, is a book about on how evangelizing is to ask questions, and therefore, letting people communicate with questions about their own truths about God. Newman writes this book hoping that anyone who reads it will gain a better understanding of what evangelism is. Newman’s book is divided into three parts: why questioning evangelism is needed, considering what questions non-believers are asking, and observing why asking questions and knowing answers doesn’t mean a Christian’s own problem like cold-heartedness or anger. Throughout the book Newman brings readers right back to bible scriptures. Even though he appeals to accounts of people like Paul in Acts preaching on Mars Hill, he also shows how the wisdom literature is applied to our evangelistic attempts.
The “Intellectual” method of evangelism that I chose to research is the Four Spiritual Laws. In summary this method is one of the simplest to use when you want to present the Gospel to someone. It was originally written as a booklet by Bill Bright, the founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, who was motivated by the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19) in 1952 as a quick and efficient way to teach people how they can be saved. The Four Spiritual Laws use Scripture to convict, convince and convert. They are:
Diane J. Hymans suggests that evangelism and education suggests a variety of meanings and that it is a matter of language that is clouding what the connotation of the definitions of evangelism, discipleship, and education are (Hymans). She states that evangelism is “making the gospel known in church and world”, while education “invites people to understand and claim their identity as baptized children of God and to clarify their vocation as people called by God to live lives characterized by love of God and neighbor” (Hymans).
Another way evangelism relates to the Christian walk is that we as Christians relate to each other. Wheeler and Whaley remind us that it is important for the members of the church to get along and love one another. I was going on a witnessing tour through our neighborhood and came across a home that was filled
Evangelism is a wide field of ministry that is captivating many, many ministers have been called into the field. It is one of the many fields we as believers are called into. We all have been given assignment before the beginning of time God knew what he would have us to do. Evangelist’s work in many different environments in their local community, nation, and abroad. We are being the hands and feet of Jesus. we should treat it as each and every person’s salvation is important to you.
