Oregon is divided by mountains which give the state two completely different climates. West of the Cascade Range the weather is cool in the summer and mild in the winter because of the Pacific Ocean. Western Oregon gets about 60 inches or more of rain and snow per year, especially the western slopes of the Coast Range that exceed 150 inches of rain and snow per year.
