Currently a Cum Laude student balancing a job, a sorority, and other extra-curricular activities, I understand the importance of managing my time wisely. Furthermore, the various jobs and activities I have been a part of have allowed me to continuously develop and advance my communication skills. Working for an accounting firm during tax season, I constantly dealt with clients both on the phone and in person. My responses needed to be quick and accurate while maintaining a patient and professional manner. Through my experiences I have honed both my time management and communication skills, and I am eager to apply and strengthen them at Ernst & Young. My work as an accounting assistant enabled me to expand my problem-solving and analytical
Time management has been both not an issue for me and also a very big problem that I have been trying to work on through this semester. This is currently my 3rd semester in college but by far it has been the hardest. I decided that I wanted to ease myself back into school this year after not having a good spring semester last year. I only have 14 credits, but some of those are 1 credit courses for choir ensembles that we learn so much music in and also had a lot of gigs lined up I also knew that I would have to work for a good amount of time from my week I just didn’t know exactly how much because I didn’t know how much money I would need. Well after discovering that I would have to completely pay for all of my own bills out here while going to school I started working on average 35 hours a week for half of September, all month in October, and half of November. I was working so much and I just felt so stressed out. Sometimes I just had to stop doing everything and relax by playing video games or hanging out with people on the occasional day off during the week I would get. I was barely keeping up with everything and I didn’t feel happy at all. I never once felt a release from any of the stressors I was facing and I always felt so behind on work. I felt like I just had to choose which class was my priority for the moment and just focus on that project or study for the midterm that’s coming up that week. Now,
“Time is like a sword. If you don't use the sword properly, you may hurt yourself”, a famous Arabic proverb. Most of us admit that there is enough time. some people wish a day is more than 24 hours. When you have homework, quizzes, exams, projects, and revision all at the same time, you need to be a pro in time managing. By being good at time managing, you will have more free time to enjoy life and be successful in your career.
It is rightly said "Time and Tide wait for none". An individual should understand the value of time for him to succeed in all aspects of life. People who waste time are the ones who fail to create an identity of their own.
1. List at least two specific examples of technological systems you will use to organise and prioritise tasks.
Managing my time was difficult on my first day as a freshman at San Jacinto College. Importantly, I needed to manage my time. Being a freshman student can be hard, because when I was a new student, time management was one of the challenges that I had when I started college was managing the time and stress.
Throughout years of experience with balancing school, work, and family affairs; learning how to manage your time effectively can become a bit time consuming. The benefits however are well worth the effort it takes to master time management. Time management consists of three major components motivation, flexibility, and organization. At times juggling these components can become overwhelming and stressful for those individuals who are not under usual time constraints. Although, managing your time takes a bit of extra work in the planning process, once you have an effective and detailed proposal in motion it will become easier to manage your time.
The following essay is a personal reflection of whether the issues that I entered this subject and course with have shifted or altered for the good or bad and how they have changed. There would be different ways of discussing and demonstrating different skills and attributes, also discussing personal experiences of communicating online and the different education and life experiences. During the duration of this subject covering all different components that would be useful within further studies or employment having obtained and utilized the different ways of looking at issues and how analyzing the studies have continued to be a useful study tool for the future.
To me, time management is one of the most important factors in having a successful college experience. The preceding sentence is an example of an epigraph. According to Merriam-Webster, and epigraph is “a quotation set at the beginning of a literary work or one of its divisions to suggest its theme”. On page 119, Rebekah Nathan uses an epigraph that is very meaningful to me; “A common way to regulate workload is simply to restrict the amount of time and effort one spends on a course by doing no more than is necessary.” Working while taking college courses is extremely stressful so having great time management skills is very crucial.
Proper time managment is crucil in developing your study habits. I like to stay organized to make sure I get my work done in a efficent, effective, and stress-free manner. I use a desk calendar to stay organized by writing all my due dates and test dates. I divide my workload throughout the week to make sure I have enough time to study and complete my homework. I also use a planner, since it is more convienient to move around. I like keeping all my schedules detailed and precise. This method allows me to keep track of all my assignments and upcoming tests, so I can properly complete and prepare for them. I can make sure I stay to my well planned out schedule and work productivly. Instead of spending 5 hours sudying for something,
It is known that maintaining proper time management skills will constitute into leading a successful personal and professional life. Time management is important but is often a struggle amongst professionals; me being one of many who are struggle. After carefully analyzing my routine, I’ve noticed that I often struggle with making it to appointments in a timely manner, completing assignments long before the due date, and committing to multiple engagements at the same time. At first, I would conclude that I was just overwhelmed with my duties but later found out that my time management skills were suffering.
When I prioritize my daily tasks and I am feeling particularly organized, I use the method developed by Stephen Covey, as discussed in his book on The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. Covey's method involves creating a matrix that is divided into four sections, each of which contains different time-specific activities (The time management matrix," Brief Group, 2012). The activities in the upper left hand corner are designated as urgent and important tasks. These are tasks that must be taken care of as soon as possible, within a short time frame. These tasks might include homework assignments due that day, studying for a test, getting to work on time, going grocery shopping, or getting the car fixed. The second, lower-left quadrant tasks are urgent but less important. These might include making plans for the evening, reading the news online, or returning daily emails to friends.
that many people lack when they come to college: time management. As I move on in a few years to life after my undergraduate degree, I know this skill of time management will prove to be invaluable and help me to balance what I’m sure will be a busy schedule.
It was a stressful week because it was ANZAC holiday. Usually, the residents were expected to attend the ANZAC ceremony at 0900. Thus the showering and the cares should be finished before then. However, the list of residents assigned to me was one of the hardest ones because 8 out of 9 residents on that list were for shower and clothing assistance and I only have 2 hours to comply. It was quite impossible obviously due to the number of residents to be taking cared of. Fortunately, I still managed to survive by doing the most probable ones that will attend the ceremony and do the rest later on. So I had surveyed them and there were 5 residents for priority cares. And so it became attainable for me to do it. After that, I do not need to hurry because the rest of my residents will not attend the ceremony anyway. I was able to use proper time management towards my duty.
Imagine this…. You start your day off full of optimism, ready to check things off your to-do list. However, half way through the day you begin to feel stressed and overloaded. The checklist that didn’t seem too bad this morning suddenly seems impossible to accomplish.
There is always an instance in which a student finds him or herself tackling a difficult assignment and in the end earning a poor grade. For example, I have experienced plenty of times in which I either procrastinate, do not understand the assignment, or just do not try as hard as I should on that particular assignment thus getting a D on it. However, worrying about the grade and crying over it will not help you do it right the next time and has no positive outcome. Going over steps and figuring out what you did wrong is guaranteed to prepare you for your next test or important paper and earn you a good grade. Studying, taking notes, asking questions, and completing the assignment a few days before the due date are a few ways to stay on track. Time management is a very important skill that teaches students how and when to approach projects and other tasks. Aside from the obvious ways to improve your work, there are a list of problem solving skills that everyone should utilize which can not only help them in school and work but also in day-to-day situations.
