Physical environment Care. Physical environment care includes an environment that is clean and comfortable and that includes both work and home. I currently share the office with a colleague however; I take care and make my space comfortable an organized environment can impact how I feel both positively and negatively. I will continue to improve and maintain the self-care practice that I have around physical environment care because it aids in decreasing anxiety knowing that one is in control of the environment and life (Ivker, Anderson, & Trivieri, 2000; Moore, 2014). As such, I will spend sometime everyday in cleaning my workspace and home environment.
Critique and Support

Then my muscles become tensed around my shoulder and neck, and oh boy I feel very cranky, and often blame others unnecessary. Taking this trauma course has been an eye opener to me because I grew up in culture where taking time out for self-care when other important things that need your attention may be frowned upon. Seeing how not having proper self-care has lead to procrastination because of my super woman attitude. What I have noticed is that I just seat for days staring at my books and can concentrate or retain any reading, and then I watch movies back to back while snacking on unhealthy snacks late at night and I cant sleep. What I feel maybe symptoms of burnout. According to Sansbury et al (2015) burnout is a gradual in nature and includes exhaustion (emotional), depersonalization, and a declined in personal
Every business must have a risk assessment in the salon to abide with health and safety regulations, which is required by the law. By doing this the manager or owner must control and assess the risks in the workplace. You need to consider what might cause harm to people and decide whether you
When identifying uses and meanings of ‘self-care’, I first looked in a dictionary. The concept was defined in the Shorter Oxford dicitonary as, “Self-care (noun) taking care of one-self; self-interested behavior.” I searched the internet to get a generalized view of how the concept was being used and it was defined on Wikipedia as, “Self-care refers to actions and attitudes which contribute to the maintenance of well-being, personal health, and promotion of human developent.” I searched data bases for scholary peer reviewed articlew and retrieved limited amount of English articles on self-care. Key word searches consisted of self-care, self-care maintenance, and self-management. The definitions and uses of the concept were fairly broad. I narrowed the search to post-op patients and self-care. The two uses for the concept in the post op patient would be self-care of the post op patient and also supportive care to promote self-care of the post-op patient. The supportive care could be from a nursing system or a family member.
Self-care maintenance is operationally defined as “those behaviors used by patients with a chronic illness to maintain physical and emotional stability” (Riegel et al., 2012, p. 195). An expanded definition used is that “Self-care maintenance refers to those behaviors performed to improve well-being, preserve health, or to maintain physical and emotional stability” (Riegel et al., 2012, p. 195). The operational definition of self-care monitoring is that it “refers to the process of observing oneself for changes in signs and symptoms” (Riegel et al., 2012, p. 195). Another definition of self-care monitoring used is “a process of routine, vigilant body monitoring, surveillance or ‘body listening’” (Riegel et al., 2012, p. 195). “Self-care management is defined as the response to signs and symptoms when they occur” (Riegel et al., 2012, p. 195). The expanded definition of self-care management is “involves an evaluation of changes in physical and emotional signs and symptoms to determine if action is needed” (Riegel et al., 2012, p. 195). While the differences in these definitions are minor, semantic clarity requires semantic consistency in the theory (Fawcett & Garity, 2009); therefore, the definitions should be the same throughout. The precise goals of self-care maintenance or self-care management are not identified; however, the goal of self-care monitoring is

Individuals with mobility issues such as back problems or arthritis, may not be able to get in and out of showers and baths with ease, in this situation, individuals should be supported and assisted when required, using aids such as grab bars and slip proof mats.
The work environment :- GITS The work environment plays a significant role in our health. Workplace fatalities, injuries and illnesses are high and lead to an enormous health burden, suffering, and economic loss. Which is why, a proactive approach to health and safety at work can help employers achieve healthier employees, low absenteeism, fewer injuries, lower long-term risk, and lower payouts for disability and health care costs. A Ward Nurse is a nurse that works in a hospital setting. It’s important that nurses are caring, compassionate and have a genuine commitment to helping their patients; however in order to work as a Ward Nurse, a degree in nursing is needed and you must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Ward Nurses can work long hours that while flexible, will mean that a lot of time is dedicated to the job. Ward Nurses often do shift work to provide 24hr care for someone.
The setting in which the activity will take place is a nursery and it will take place within the baby room. There will be 2 other members of staff present and the number of babies varies.
The environment has been described according to Bender and Feldman (2015) as “man and environment are in continuous, dynamic, interaction and will always influence a patient’s wellness. The environment is more than just the physical surroundings but also where a patient receives care. It includes the physiological and psychological state of the patient, as well as hospital policies, management, and the culture in which a nurse practices.
These aspects include; professional, physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual and relationship (https://schools.au.reachout.com/articles/developing-a-self-care-plan). These self-care aspects should be taught to nurses. After looking at multiple nursing programs at numerous universities, I found that only one University had a self-care program. This is problematic because without self-care programs, nursing students enter the profession without any sense of self-care. When I research nursing courses at Western University, they have one course called Health Promotion and Caring for Self, Colleagues, and Clients. I completed this course myself, and examining the syllabus I discovered that out of the 72 hours of the course, only 6 hours of it was devoted to self-care, and how to perform it

3. Make self-care an appointment and make it a standing date. Mull it over. If something is tricky to do, why make yourself "reinvent the wheel" and start anew with doing it every time? When you can, it is often best to make self-care a ritual.
needs continuous guidance in self-care. This is the science of self-care (Fawcett, 2001, p. 35).
The Merriam-Webster dictionary (2016) defines self-care as “care for oneself: self-treatment.” In the 1980s support groups were formed to try to meet the needs or the self that were not being met through healthcare. The founding of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) spurred this self-help movement and was an impetus for the development of the concept of self-care and the idea that the individual had the responsibility to care for oneself. Psychology has labeled the concept self-efficacy and includes the patient’s willingness along with confidence to do life-sustaining activities in their definition of self-care.
(2012) define self-management as an active process in which an individual engages into the management of the chronic illness. Self-management process allows patients to manage the chronic disease by focusing on illness needs and utilize available resources to minimize the disability. Stroke is one of the major causes of long-term disability and the treatment of stroke patients requires a holistic approach (American Stroke Association [ASA], 2017).
